Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

  1. Hello all! Total amateur astrophysics question here, so bear with me. But since I had heard about what's been called "The Great Attractor", I've been unable to shrug off the possibility that the universe may not be in a state of increasingly rapid expansion after all. My idea goes as follows: Because most astrophysicists have observed redshifting light being emitted from the vast majority of distant galaxies, most believe that the universe is in a state of expansion... However, there appears to be a huge fixed point in the observable universe where our local cluster and 'nearby' superclusters are racing towards -known as The Great Attractor... So, cou…

  2. Gravity2.pdf Interested in comments please. Is Gravity Mass induced Time dilation within a quantised space? and not gravity waves but time dilation percussion across the quantised field? What is Gravity? Mass curves Space Time which means Time has to travel a greater distance along the curved space then at flat space. Time always travels at the same speed (always the same from the perspective of the observer). Because space is quantised and there is a greater distance to travel along curved space then flat space, it takes longer for time to travel along the greater distance of curved space which causes time dilation. There is a fixed amount o…

IF gravity is largely resultant from the distortion of virtual particle orbits, then a manipulation of these orbits, singularly or by multiples could have gravitational effects leading to, with precise orbit modifications, generation of a gravitation vector force, directable and controllable. It also seems possible to create "hawking radiation" using the same idea in the lab...these ideas should start off with microscopic size areas being manipulated as each pair will have to be accounted for and biased accordingly with the desired orbit shape within a shielded vacuum.

  4. An interesting thought, since one dimensional motion and two dimensional motion can be represented in three dimensions, can three dimensional motion not be represented in four since a fourth dimensional object is always going to be composed of three dimensional components? An interesting thought is that if we exist in four dimensions is that once we exceed the speed of light time will move backwards, (Because citation counts: according to wikipedia: In 1908, Hermann Minkowski presented a paper consolidating the role of time as the fourth dimension of spacetime, the basis for Einstein's theories of special and general relativity. But the geometry of spacetime, being non-E…

  5. Well, energy is defined as change is space2 per Change in Time2 for a unit of mass which velocity increases mass via relativistic mass at increased rate of travel through space, So it is safe to say that Mass is compressed energy and the increase in velocity somehow increases the amount of energy able to be stored in the mass field due to Time Dilation or Length Contraction probably by increasing the time experience by the particle, so that would mean that Mass is a reaction to time increasing as Space Decreases and since Mass increases as time does we can say that Mass allows time to move more quickly and is somehow more stable with increased time rate and has decreased …

I've been googling this to death and I can't find any info on this so it might be possible it's a new concept. But here goes! What if the status of the cosmos at T=0 was an all encompassing now. Time was just another spatial dimension and time did not pass. At the moment of the Big Bang time symmetry was broken resulting in the release of energy bound up in that static time dimension. This break in symmetry resulted in time as we know it and time's arrow. But, and yeah this is pure speculation, if the expansion of the big bang resulted in two universes expanding in two opposite time dimensional directions? Matter goes in one time direction and antimatt…

Has any research been done, experiment or attempts of any sort to transfer the knowledge and experiences from the brain of a sixties lucid person to a twentiesh year old ? It is usually called teaching, but in a more technological and quick way. Short of implanting a USB socket under the hair... Would such be happening in 100 years from now ? Implications would certainly be impacting.

Bees are probably using a simple algorithm to solve the travelling salesman problem. We know that when bees get back to the hive after discovering a new group of flowers, they do a little dance. The length of the dance represents the distance to the group of flowers, and the direction they are pointing indicates the direction to the group of flowers. The bees could be using a spiral pattern to find the flowers. They would start at the middle group of flowers, and work their way outwards in a spiral pattern. That's just a guess. They could be using some other algorithm.

Gravitons are the theoretical particles of gravity that work by exchanging themselves with other masses thereof creating an attraction between masses but lets look deeper on how they could work. 1)gravitons could technically be aligned in a formation we call a field and this field when in contact with a mass exchange and cause the pull basically fussing the idea of a field and a particle 2)if gravitons do exist it could be possible to isolate a mass form the formation of gravitons of earth or other celestial objects, then therefore causing new space tech and conventional labour tech 3)maybe gravitons are connections of energy between matter therefore making…

  10. I'll let you know I understand energy. If I take relativity seriously, then they are both the same thing, but in what way do we mean this, really? What does [math]E = Mc^2[/math] actually mean, in this context? Or as you ask, what exactly is energy: 1) energy is nothing but a diffused form of matter 2) matter is the physics of condensed energy From this, many have concluded, matter is just a trapped form of energy, quite possibly light since most particles can and will reduce back to photon energy in matter-antimatter collisions. This may be a non-trivial relationship of light to matter. A group of Glaswegian scientists show…

  11. We all are familiar with the theories of the universe being higher dimensional I assume. There has never been any proof of this, bit I'm going to go ahead and add another probability level to them being true by explaining them with simple logic. But first, I'm gonna 'prove' something else which leads to this point. Let's start with the 3 dimensions we know of. Width, height and depth. We are able to see all of these dimensions, and that has led people to assume that this world is 3-dimensional, and we living here also are 3-dimensional. And this is a valid assumption... except that it logically doesn't make sense. Why? Well let me explain. …

  12. I know what your thinking "uhhh, another crackpot theory" but if you understand 'velocitas' like this you will begin to understand this concept, but hold on this isn't evidence its merely in easier way to understand it, now lets begin... Velocities is like a battery, you can charge it (to gain more potential energy form external forces like gravity) and it will hold the energy until it is used for charging a Xbox controller or tv remote(kinetic energy, chemical energy etc). Now with this basic concept I wish for people to comment on this and give me ideas and maybe even math or evidence for my idea but remember this is only a theory and I will keep n posting new par…

So, I've heard this many times: "Those who believe in the multiverse theory either come from a non scientific background and are usually crackpots." But I want to say this: I don't believe in anything. So yes, the multiverse theory has no where near as many points of evidence with it as against it, but I'd like you to look at a few points I think are relevant to the theory. Steven Hawking has theorized if not nearly proven that the universe once existed as a black hole, this raises many questions on how this black hole came to be, namely where did it get all that mass from? Matter doesn't simply pop into existence and for as much matter as we have in our…

  16. sorry if this isn't the right area to post this I wasn't sure where it should go. (I didn't want to post in math or something which might have content which the community might think of as more respectable so I put it here so it can be moved somewhere nicer if the admins think it is worthy.) so recently I've been thinking about the gamblers fallacy. the gamblers fallacy is the idea that things become more or less likely based on previous results which to most people seems obvious. you can't flip a coin and keep coming up tails forever. at one point I thought I discovered why the gamblers fallacy is a fallacy that is that any particular combination of 100 coin flips…

  17. So, I deduced this neutral system over a 3 year period. When you pair a larger and smaller Field coil, charged particles are trapped around the smaller field coil in a toroidal vortex when DC current is applied. I think this is what Harold White was stumbling upon with the Warp Drive research he has been doing. I think Normal matter and Dark matter are coupled by gravity, and collecting Dark Matter into one spot with a toroidal vortex is brilliant. That way you can control the localized gravity shift made. I'm not a science major, just a normal Joe with a knack for pattern recognition. I'm open to questions, because if it is an ACTUAL unifying theory of gravity it woul…

The Apollo 11 lander did not land on the moon. In the descent of the Apollo 11 lunar lander, the lander begins to descent onto the surface of the moon and achieves a velocity of 550 mph at which point the lander's rocket engine is activated and produces a thrust of 10,000 lb until the lander nears the moon's surface at which time the thrust is reduced to 3,000 lb. At the moon surface, the lander's rocket engine's thrust would result in a blast zone and the accumulation of rocket smoke at the moon's surface caused by the push back of the rocket smoke from the moon's surface yet the lunar descent film does not depict rocket smoke. The lack of the moon's atmosphere is used …

  19. I have been turning over some ideas for a while and have come up with the following which could be useful ontologically. It have gone to effort to make it simpler than my previous attempt, and to correct any obvious errors I came upon. We know the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate and the acceleration is ubiquitous throughout the universe. We know matter doesn't seem to undergo this same spreading. Such a uniform acceleration of expansion brings is typical of the forces a wave would exert as its wavelength increased. Fig 1. In a sine wave both the trough and the crest undergo expansive geometric forces, causing a shift in wavelength as they propagate…

There is no dark matter. One only has to apply General Relativity correctly to have the galactic orbital velocities we see. Flattened spiral galaxies and spherical stellar systems have different shapes and different shaped time dilation gradients. Within a stellar system, all events appear to accelerate increasingly as they approach the center of the dilation "pit", where the dilation gradient only equalizes in an infinitesimal point within the star. At his point, where ∆D = the difference in the rate of time between frames (designated proper and coordinate times) the math is determined by the following: as ∆D→0, ∆Y, ∆X and ∆Z→0 This impedance to the …

My theory is that the asymmetry could be best explained as TWO infinite points instead of one. Like binary stars spinning around each other getting ever closer until they collide. The two points would collide and explode. Such an explosion would be massive enough to annihilate anything. My theory is that in the explosion, there was more anti-matter destroyed than matter creating the asymmetry and causing matter to be more abundant and creating the universe. This would also allow for the singularity as the Big Bang would still appear to have come from a single point.

I've posted two topics this one and one on Dark Matter on a few forums and everyone seems to go quiet. They don't do it with my other ideas and I can't figure out if it is because it is rubbish or because I have something. I'm guessing you guys are the experts, so please indulge me and tell me why these two posts just can't be right. Post 1 · Dark Energy The previous post spoke about the inwardly curving gravitational space. It is not unreasonable to assume that if space can curve inwardly into high density regions, it also curves outwardly into low density regions (an inward curve and an outward curve). In fact, in true wave fashion, they both mu…

The CHSH Inequality is valid. The logic of the experiment is correct. The alignment of the physical experiment is wrong. The alignment of the 2 polarizers is from a angle of zero from vertical. The incoming photons must be aligned with the vertically polarized photons at zero degrees and the horizontally polarized photons at 90 degrees. That is NOT the way the experiment IS ACTUALLY DONE. There is a ton of information about the alignment of the 2 polarizers but there are really 4 alignments. The 2 polarizers can be rotated to set the alignment. The BBO crystals can be rotated to set their alignment. The Quartz Wave Plate can be rotated to …
