Speculations
Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.
The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:
- Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
- Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
- Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.
The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

About 10 years ago, I came up with a theory that got rejected from every theoretical physics journal that exists, and I got shrugged off from every Theoretical Physics professor that I could contact. Nobody has every agreed to even hear the theory. So I recently posted a description of it on YouTube. Maybe someone can look at it and tell me why people are so against hearing new theories. Part 1. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=997N_QRUCG4 Please start the video at 6:40 minutes, that way you can skip the clumsy introduction and me just getting my bearings straight. Part 2 answers a few questions that I got so far from my Father. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=…

I posted this in the physics section, but it probably fits here better. I would like to post a few questions and offer a thought experiment or two. I do not have a background in these fields, but I enjoy reading and watching science shows. First, there is widespread agreement on the Big Bang Theory and the age of the universe The age of the universe is largely based upon the residual microwave radiation that is thought to be the oldest observable portion of our universe. We are surrounded by this radiation and it is the same in all directions. First question. In some respects, that seems to put us at the center of the universe. We can see the same distance…

SO people, despite our scientific understanding, there was still huge investment and some irrefutable evidence surrounding the topic or remote viewing.. do you believe in the possibility of this ability? i dont class this as a nonsense question and the sheer scale of government funding spent on its investigation (supposedly stopped, although i think not) would suggest it holds some water

Hello the forum. I would like to introduce myself by way of a challenge. Make water move uphill Create a fountain that takes an initial short input of kinetic energy and runs for a few minutes or a few hours or whatever. Rules: No electricity Magnets are allowed Gears are allowed Gears and springs only as a last resort Passive solar is allowed To give a bit of context : I have been working on this project for two decades and can tell you that your initial assumptions may well miss the mark (judging from the many conversations I have had with scientists over the decades). My hope is that the challenge I present you is worthy, illuminating or b…

1 in 36 South Korean babies are now deemed to have some form of autism. 1 in (48 - 50) in the UK. Three decades ago the US figure was ? 1 in 25,000. (The drugs used to treat autism, atypical anti-psychotics, are frank neurotoxins - so if the autism does not create a Patient For Life the drugs probably will). 54% of US children have chronic illness.

Although we can treat any object we lift as a blob and say that the planet acts on the blob with an equal and opposite force to the one we exert, let's define our blob a bit more precisely. Let's say we have 1 gram atom of Gold. This is the relative atomic weight of gold in grams. Let's call that weight x so here so far we have mg gold=x. Let's take the weight of the earth as X. So we have Mg earth as X. So in terms of equal and opposite force we have x=X. But since 1 gram atom of gold equals (N) atoms of gold or Avogadro's number. We have the resistance of (N) atoms of gold equal to the resistance of all the atoms in the Earth. Where it appears to me that the resi…

How does it work? From what i understand it still uses the 2nd law of thermodynamics? I can see how it being colder would reduce the half-life and how the "energy" will not dissipate as fast because the molecules are closer together. But wouldn't it take more energy to produce enough cold air sinking to turn a turbine?

THE ZERO THEOREM, i.e you would agree with me that our mathematical system operates with the presupposition that at dt=0 nothing exist. But the truth is that given absolute relativity, and the fact that dt is strictly dependent on gravitation (twin paradox and all of einstein's codswallop), outside, and far from, earth, somewhere, there exist manifold variation of gravitational force and its effect on time space (though its space geometry and complex space geometry remains the same - somehow!). Adding all of this up, the zero theorem is simply saying that at earths dt=o, there exist, somewhere, where dt is not equal to zero. Then all our mathematical zeros becomes arbitra…

E=mc^2 Mass can neither be created nor destroyed. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. And we know from observation of an object exploding that there is less mass after a release of energy. From this can we assume mass is stored energy? Or is mass transformed from this abstract substance into another abstract substance? Are they equal in value or two forces interacting? Before you respond let me ask you a few off topic questions. what do the curvature of a circle, the parallels of a right triangle, and many other observations of existence have in common? How do they differ from Euler's identity? E=mc^2 expanded or the theory of movement. relativit…

If Higgs field really exists, we can imagine these Universes. Super Higgs field universe It contains particles which have a speed above C(the speed of light). It has a field that determines the property of other element particles, which have very high speed and not interacted with Higgs field. Twin Higgs field universe It contains particles which have a speed within or similar than C. It has a field that determines the property of other element particles not interacted with Higgs field. Above element particles have not found yet. But during LHC experiment, much energy is disappeared to somewhere.

Hi All, Recently I came across Ron Pearson's theory about physics of survival. He reject Big Bang,General relativity...actually I'll copy and post it from the link: "Pearson’s theory is rather obscure and convoluted to read, as evidenced by the fact that his theory has been rejected by most of the scientific community; throwing out benchmarks of physics, such as constant speed of light, relativity, the cosmological constant, etc., and instead utilizing the invention of numerous types of hypothetical energies, e.g. 'positive and negative primaries', 'breeded energies', etc., said to existed and interacted at the start of the universe, along with other mathematical cont…

Emotions Have aided animals in their survival. Anger will give an animal the courage to fight. Fear will keep the animal out of harms way. Greed will make the animal strive to sustain ones life. Love will make the animal find companionship and work together to sustain life for each other. Emotions have played a major role in our survival. How exactly we came to evolve them. what came first the chicken or the egg? I don't want to argue this. If you think emotions haven't aided survival, I will respectively listen to your argument. Side Note - I think were way more likely to survive loving each-other than we are hating each-other.

I'm writing for a sci-fi comic, and we'd prefer to be reasonably scientific, so I and a friend of mine decided to run some stuff by you folks who know what you're talking about. A few of our aliens are (roughly) humanoid insectoids. As a rule, insectoids don't get above a certain size in an Earthlike atmosphere because they would need extremely strong winds and/or very high concentrations of oxygen to breathe. Any suggestions as to how a very large insectoid might evolve to breathe Earthlike air (with reasonable accommodations like an artificial respirator, that isn't too unsightly?) One hypothetical creature in our universe is a VERY large moth that lives on a …

As human, the main reason we study on the human sex positions is only for baby conception. Today, I want to stand in the prospective of evolution to have a look at the animals' sex positions. First, we have to know how many sex positions animals have on the earth. One is rear entry (doggie style), the other is face to face. 1, Rear entry In this position, male have the penetration into vagina behind the female. It is also called doggie style, because animals mostly have sex in this position as same as dog. Of course rear entry has lots of variation, such as the standing canine, spooning, the cuissade, and so on, but the core of these positions is penetration from the…

Throughout life, there are many things that give one pause, things that have an achievable answer, but require one to think about certain things differently. when most people approach "evolution" or "natural selection" , etc. , one tends to "in error, of course", think of these changes as being orchestrated by the complete "organism", per se. One also tends to "believe" these changes are done with only basic "instinct" and "chemical reactions/processes", etc.. But if one really approaches the "process" of actually re-coding the DNA to produce an "offspring" that "has a good chance" of dealing with the said "instance" that caused these changes or change to be initi…

Well now our earth is doing all kinds of crazy shenanigans like having a hole in our ozone, which will end up hurting us. We can sustain life on this planet forever. So are we going to stay on this planet and go with it, or try to see what else the universe has to offer us? Living in space will ultimately be very hard on reproduction. a woman birthing a child for 9 months in 0 gravity doesn't sound like it will go very smoothly. So I don't think were going to one day just be able to say " hey lets go live in space " its something we must prepare for, and if we don't start soon it will never happen. step 1 - Living in space will give us almost no access to sunlight…

Ozone is O3, a powerful oxidising agent. What is the cause of northern leaching. Why the southern hole, when over two thirds of humanity is in the northern hemisphere? It has been blamed on halogenated carbon compounds like freon, a refrigerant, which now attracts a tax like carbon tax for CO2 emissions. Yet carbon tetrachloride, once used extensively as a dry cleaning fluid, was also used in fire extinguishers, being non-combustible, and creating a heavy vapour to smother fires. That was until it became known that, with alcohol in the system, breathing the vapour caused instant fatal renal failure. These substances do not occur naturally, to my knowledge. Why are they bl…

Albert Einstein (1879–1955): Zeit ist das, was man an der Uhr abliest. ''Time is what a clock measures.'' How Time Comes About I have found that there are two reasons why a sense of time may come about, a quantum field theory answer and a less fundamental answer lying within biological systems. The first quantum field theory principle which allows time to exist can be thought of the precurser for all systems, even those which have no biology to act as clocks. There are for this discussion over several topics for time - each unique and different to the next, some may exist within the context of science and others which do not. We will quickly …

What if the Earth is growing? As in increase in mass, total size of earth overall through time? Objects hitting Earth from space all the time can be a source of growth, or what if the Earth just grows naturally, kind of like an organism..
