Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.

Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

Post reply Jul 27 (3 days ago) I've decided after much thought, that to integrate Gravity with QM you have to get rid of General Relativity. Combining GR with QM is just not a viable possibility. Space-time has to be the flat space-time of Special Relativity. Now every successful theory to data has involved some sort of unitary representation, SO(2), SU(1), SU(2), SU(3). SU(4). and even higher for QM in general. All of them are some sort of Lie, division and/or Clifford algebras. So when Gravity gets merged with the rest of physics, it has to be in that form too, whether it's considered to be quantized or not. And there's a…

This brief paper describes how and why (credible causality) Sir Isaac Newton's gravity force can be described as a simple force of electromagnetic attraction; that is not only compatable with Einstein's gravity and relativity, but actually provides credible causality for it... Seeger Carbajal ElectromagneticGravity 1)… Introduction… Sunlight (the speed of light) takes approximately 8.3 minutes to reach the earth, so that when we see the sun in the sky, we are not seeing the sun where it is now, but we are seeing the sun where it was 8.3 minutes ago. Sunlight does not point back to the sun's true center of gravity, whereas gravity always points ba…

  3. We all know that NASA will announce the discovery of life on mars during their Curiosity expedition. I bet it will happen within the next 2 months and that it will be some nasty looking creature in an attempt to recruit more Starship Trooper knuckleheads. Roll out the aliens already. Lets get this show on the road.

Conclusion It is essential to conduct the J.P. Cedarholm – C.H. Townes experiment (1959) on a moving vehicle relative to the Earth’s surface in order to establish whether the Theory of Relativity is accurate or not. Otherwise, we will never be able to say with certainty that the Theory of relativity is true, no matter how many experiments are performed and verified. Consequently, if the J.P. Cedarholm - C.H.Townes experiment (1959) is performed (using an experimental device that is in motion relative to the surface of the Earth) and it yields a POSITIVE result, then the Theory of Relativity (Special and General) is 100% FALSE!!!! Thank you.

Hit on head from parallel universe? Parallel universes have been turned down before on this forum. Here is a different, rather radical approach. How many times have I heard on TV that there could be a parallel universe only inches from us. I would always like to ask the lecturer how comes a carpenter in such close parallel universe, carrying a 2x4, does not hit me on head when turning around. So what is a universe exactly? Surfing for a definition found a great variety of them. Most loaded with lots of gobbledygook. IMO definition of a universe should be: It must have 3 linear spatial dimensions xyz. Throw in time and any number of hidden dimensions t…

I have been on a roller-coaster of bizarre events but just recently came up with a new String theory that incorporates distance Squared and Energy squared... Explained in two video.. One last night and one 3 days after the Sister Theory of everything was released... Sep 28 2012 Sep 5 2012 I know it sounds crazy but It is a theory and that is what they sound like at first.... I personally think it is a leg point leg but I have not gotten the Idea down to that point yet... ENJOY!!!!

I've noticed this nearly all my life. The Moon at night appears to be a Yellow-Gray. But when the Moon and Sun are both up, the Moon appears to be White. It doesn't depend of the phase of the Moon or the location of both in the sky. It's not Yellow-White, or Blue-White, it's just pure White. There can also be clouds in the sky. I've chosen to post this at a time when both are in the sky together, so you can see this. In case you want to know, this is posted in the right forum, this does involve Quantum Mechanics. I have at least a partial explanation but I'm not entirely certain it's correct. Have fun with it.

The Higgs...the Higgs the Higgs the Higgs! So what? Well, we've topped off the Standard Model. At the same time, the Anthropic Principle is gaining ground. The uptake? People are starting to shift their spirituality to science. Many of us feel God and science are becoming good bedfellows. In the field of medicine, Carl Jung showed us that we need the spirit in the same way children need love. We just wither internally without it. Materialism takes over--a dangerous substitute for spirituality. Many people will say, "I believe in something," without naming anything. At least atheists take a stand by actively disbelieving. But by the 1930s we knew statements of absolute…

  11. Ok here is an idea I've been throwing around I'm going to keep it pretty basic, makes it easier to describe,Supermassive black holes appear at the center of every galaxy, they consume massive amounts of matter, now if each supermassive black hole was a potential big bang I'm sure we would have seen evidence by now,and thy would happen more often. Now take supermassive black holes sharing one singularity, they fill it to critical mass and boom big bang,Keeping in mind this is just an idea I've got no figures or formulas to prove this theory, was just looking for some criticism

So, I have read about something called polyphasic sleep, and I'm going to try it out, I think it's really something interesting worth charing with the rest of the world, so I will fully document my polyphasic sleep experiement and I would be really happy if you could follow my experiment and discuss some interesting facts about it. In my opinion polyphasic sleep is something that isn't given too much attention, but could easily change our world and our society. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UM4sEb9p9Xw&feature=plcp

  14. Hello! I apologize for my poor English. New proof of Hubble's law. Is space really expand? ---------------- I. Introduction ~~~~ 3. We have never observed the expansion of space. 4. Expansion of the universe and expansion of space are not the same concept. The fact that the universe expands shows that distance between galaxies become further. This can be explained from the expansion of space between galaxies, but this can be explained even when galaxies have +r direction initial speed in condition where space doesn't expand. II. Proof of Hubble's law through dynamics 1. After accelerating expansion(such as inflation) of early universe has almost…

See video explaining topic Several related concepts are embedded in this topic: It is assumed that inflation theory in one form or another is correct (even though it's still a subject of debate). During inflation, all matter and radiation are pushed to the outer edge of the cosmos, forming a skin, somewhat like a soap bubble (purely speculative, can somebody make it look plausible?) As soon as inflation stops, the skin slackens, and matter and radiation expand within a shell around the void in the middle. (speculative). The universe still drifts outwards, but also starts falling back into the void (speculative). The falling back into the void c…

hi the question is why should we use a hypothesis? is it necessary to use hypothesis in every situation? in ancient times natural philosophers use question-answer method to know nature. they do not use hypothesis. in early modern ages, baconian method ( sir francis bacon) were used by sir thomas brown, issac newton, john stuart mill etc. also emphasizes that no hypothesis should be used. sir issac newton said in his principia that "hypotheses non fingo" (I don't make hypotheses). in his optiks he said "hypotheses have no place in experimental science." but in modern science hypothesis is the starting point of research. why it is so? who started it? why no…

Isn't it? not understanding simultaneous phase of the total event led us to hypothesis as there is need for algoritham that fulfill both simultaneous & sequential event with precision as many good s…

When I was a kid the Sunday paper always had a little quiz problem. It would have a picture with all kinds of things messed up in it, with the question 'What is wrong with this picture?'. Quantum theory was invented when Max Planck solved the first Black Body problem. In a fairly short paper filled with a beautiful example of 'reasoning among the facts' he laid out a solution, that he later interpreted as energy being in the form of Quanta. Make a little ( hypothetical ) metal box painted black on the outside and inside, and with a small hole so that you can observe the inside. Now heat it to the surface temperature of the Sun which is 5800K. The reason it's hypo…

  20. Retro Physics, is the simple concept that if we can record the entire state of a closed region of space, and then simulate 100% accurately cause and effect in either direction, that we would then be able to simulate time travel 100% accurate on said space, by rewinding or fast forwarding physics. In theory, on a fast enough supercomputer set up, is that we could do a few wonderful things A) Time travel into the future or past, without any fear of a paradox. B) Time travel into the future with it, and use it to obtain obscene amounts of unique technology. A Virtual tech sing universe, or technology advancement system. C) Stop all crimes from happening by cr…

CHARGE EXPLAINED v2.0 Charge is another one of those things you learn about in physics. Well, you think you do, but you don’t. Not really. The textbooks don’t explain it, and they shrug off this omission by telling you it’s fundamental. It isn’t. It’s as fundamental as mass, which is not very fundamental at all. The thing is this: if you understand mass you already understand charge. But you probably don’t realise it yet. So I’ll explain it. Let’s start with the easy stuff. We know that we can rub a balloon to create an electric field. It can pick up a piece of paper or make your hair stand up. We’ve all seen and felt a spark of static, blue and crackling as …

A recent vision: The farther the electron travels away from mass the less twisting and turning happens. After all, isn't it gravity which induces this effect within it's field? More so, if a galaxy is quadri-polar, and an electron crosses over the galactic plane does it twist the other way? Any thoughts? Anybody know of similar current studies on this?
