Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

  1. Before arguing that it's possibly the most intellectual theory, and I should shut up or shut it, then just hear me out. Parallel universes are thought as infinite, and as it could go on forever and beyond space and time are other universes that perhaps defies the laws of physics and logic cannot be. Pigs shall fly in one universe, so on and so forth. But what are universes in? Are there a spheric figure or cubic shape that stands on time and space itself? Universes are actually thought to be infinite and is creating several stars and is expanding, and is actually incalculable of its diameters and shape due to our current technology, but if there were universes and they be…

I don't know if this question belongs on this forum so feel free to move it to the Trash Can if you want but I have often wondered about this: How would have our history (especially the history of space exploration) have been different if the Earth had a moon with a breathable atmosphere? I think that would have changed it dramatically.

PHYSICS OF OPTICS AND TIME Any corrections, different point of view and criticism will be appreciated pls. ABSTRACT: A brief proposition on the nature of light waves and how it affects the measurement of observers. For example, when a disturbance is created in the waves of light due to the motion of an object, this disturbance does not just die out of existence. It goes on to affect the observation and measurements of all observers who depend on the light waves for their observation and measurement. This change in the physical property of the light waves can make physical measurements of different frames to appear relative depending on the magnitude of the disturbance …

when an object moves from point say A to point B , it disappears at that position which is A and appears in position B, it disappears to become energy and appears again as mass, this process is not noticeable because atoms disappear and appear in sequence, if we think of motion as above , i.e an atom moving by jumping from point a to point b, it will change into energy = mc^2 adding to it the energy which it possesses by force. friction: I said above an atom will change to energy at each jump and to mass again , and the total energy will be: mc^2+ 0.5 m v^2 , we notice that the kinetic energy is only (0.5*m*v^2) the quantity (mc^2) appears and disappears in something …

  5. The positive mass is how much matter there is and the negative mass is how much energy disappeared from vacuum to form mass , it is possible to have negative energy , in relativity energy comes out of mass by the square of speed of light increament here I would like to present the equation in opposite direction i.e huge energy produces little mass by the reciprocal of the square of the speed of light factor , by the idea that mass was obtained by making huge work, then the same energy is released by the same equation. by the arguement above when mass was made by work done , something left which is the negative mass qauntity, it is the same as when collecting heat e…

  6. A new study by Oxfam found that the richest 1% of the world's population will own 50% of the planet’s wealth by the year 2016! It shows the ever widening gap between the rich and the poor in capitalist countries. This contradiction is prevented from exploding through the following means: 1) an abundant technical capacity that is spent in the production and distribution of waste, planned obsolescence, environmental destruction, military products, space junk, cheap gadgets, low-cost technology, and affordable luxury goods that are spread to the broad strata of the Earth’s population, thereby increasing the overall standard of living but at the same time concealing the radic…

  7. Do you believe it possible for human technology one day in the distant future to be capable of preventing the heat death of the universe? I personally see no reason why we could or would not. Likely, humans will eventually understand how/when/why matter and energy initially originated from without breaking the first law of thermodynamics (perhaps by starting their own Big Bangs in sub-universes).

  8. THE HOLE’S “FOOT-PRINT”, GO BACK IN TIME! EXISTS ANY RELIABLE DETECTOR WATCHING THIS PHENOMENA? The aim of this post, for me is to grasp the “natural concept”, caused by the ” weirdness “ of moving “things” back in time. As this thing (Hole) is positron, an antimatter particle, some other questions derive: 1- Is it “moving back in time”, “a mode of movement” for whatever antimatter particle? 2- The its given name--- “hole”--- has the same natural meaning as hole = emptiness, nothingness. 3- The DIRAK’s sea, is full of positrons, does this mean that space is charged only with positive charge, or I am wrong? How is it linked (or has it any link) with electric constant…

  9. I wanted some insight on mmy question, i joined a forum just for that, sorry if im off subject......... So im a newbie. My question is about the quantum entangelment and how it corelates to the multivers theory. the theory of a parallel universe does make sence to me, what doesnt make sence is that there is an exact opposite of me, in that universe. the quantum entagelment shows that 2 particles can be connected even at a vast distance and each particle does the oposite or an alternative to what the other particl does. So, since my body is made up of millions and millions of these particles, what explains how my particles are assembled together in the paralell univers…

Hello to everyone This is my first time here (or anywhere for that matter) as an observer of our science community. I crave for knowledge, develop my own theories, and I am certainly curious about what the general circulating beliefs are in relation to what surrounds us. So I will start by saying, that my intention is to start a thread on a very controversial subject (in my perspective) theorized by Newton. And I aim to smash the idea that you can not travel faster than light, and the association of light-speed to time. This may be an extended discussion, so I first want to know if there is interest to get into this before I spend any time on it, so I don't en…

I was watching Suskind (string theory and M theory, lesson one) describing a Feynman diagram of the collision of two pi mesons into a Rowe meson, then a quick decay back into two pi mesons. Then he described a single pi meson changing into a Rowe meson with another quick return to the single pi meson. He went on further to explain the math describing the second reaction was not a lower-equivalent of the first to the degree one would have expected. If this is a correct interpretation of the lesson, does that indicate the 2 pi mesons of the first experiment merge and become a single "double" Rowe meson? How does this square with the uncertainly principle against two particl…

I believe that we are in half of a double universe. That we are in something like a ball. If one side of the ball is squeezed and there is a rubber band on the middle, one side shrinks and the other side expands. When one universe shrinks, it compacts together and eventually gathers enough energy in one place to cause what we call "The Big Bang." Once the Big Bang happens, the universe that shrank begins to grow with the force of the explosion. This process takes billions of trillions of years to complete in this theory of mine. However, if this is incorrect, how did the universe have enough energy to cause the Big Bang to begin with? This theory is likely as far as I am …

  13. I think to start off I should introduce myself and the reason why I'm here, the proceed to explain as best I can what my brain decided to think off. My names Ryan, I'm 18, living in the UK and attending College studying Software Development. I have been interested for a very long time in Quantum Physics after studying a little in school and later watching many video's. After time away I always seem to find a new video, article or something related that brings me back to looking at it again. And well 2 days ago I got drawn back in again. I was on youtube watching some technology video's and saw a quantum physics video. After about 20-30 minutes it finished talking about d…

  14. If Dark matter accounts for the majority of space, can we theorize that matter within this space are in analogy, "like a gas bubble in water". Contained fields of matter, held in place by dark matter. And that this containment is inverse, Thats to say that instead of the force being from the core of the matter outward (Gravity), it is inverse, from the borders of it's interaction"s with the surrounding dark matter, inward. All planets and it's various materials, are but bubbles of elements and compounds and other forces like electromagnetic force, contained in the fabric of dark matter. Their particular inversion force, can be directly attributed to their…

I believe that the human made math is undefined, flawed, and tethered to a system that we have manipulated enough for it to be questioned by math students. If math is based off of logic from human minds, how is it perfect? I realize that we're still developing new concepts of math but I believe that math nowadays is flawed at certain parts. If I am incorrect, I would rather be given an example why I am wrong than have people yelling at me for my "ignorance" in this topic. If you agree, please give reasons why you believe this as well. I have many people who agree that math is flawed. Now the reasons I give for math being flawed. 1. In my theories of the universe that…

  16. Hello Science Forums! So here's my idea: a high resolution 4 dimensional scan of the body to be uploaded into an extremely powerful computer for the purpose of things like diet optimization and drug trials. Rather then testing new drugs or diets on living beings we could test them on the computer which feels nothing. You could use this for so many other things I'm suprised I haven't heard of this idea before. So what do you think? I know this might not be plausible in the next few years but maybe in a few decades.

  18. Hello, A few years back I had the idea that the topography of Mars could have been largely created by a close encounter with Jupiter. I posted it on several forums and got some great responses. (And some angry trolls, but hey it is the internet so what can you do) The introduction video to this idea is here: http://youtu.be/mGOsw8CLxmE This is a flyby that tears out the Hellas basin. I found that a great many people thought that it went by the Roche limit. I'd just like to point out ahead of time that Mars has a fairly high density so the Roche limit does not come into play. I made a video showing the location of some things around Jupiter because of…

  19. Started by JCJ Barnard,

I have my own theory how it’s created and how it works. The speed of an electron in an atom is key. Due to the field between the proton(s) and electron(s) in combination with the immense speed of the electron, it creates vortexes within its atom. These vortexes are expelled from the atom in any and every direction probably at about the speed of light. When a gravity vortex pass threw another atom the field between the proton(s) and electron(s) of that atom gets distorted a little. The best way to describe the distortion is to compare the gravity vortex with a tornado. A tornado sucks in air one side and expel it the other. The gravity vortex does the same with the fie…

  20. Let's begin with a review of intelligence. I think, in its strictest form, intelligence is the ability to discern two different phenomena. This, taken at its most literal level, would suggest that leaves are intelligent, however with that perspective, this spiel would risk becoming absurd. Continuing, there are technological systems founded on the ability to differentiate. We see them in our phones and in our computers and they continue to proliferate our lives. In addition, we see collaborations of electrical logic systems producing what is, at least, perceived as a greater type of being, founded on the synergy of the collective. Intelligence is distinct from sen…

  21. Professor Barbour of Oxford supports the theory that an antimatter universe is travelling away from ours in time. I think that should be phrased as 'away from each others space' because time is a construction of momentum. For me this provides a model in which antimatter filaments are intertwined with our galactic filaments but cannot be directly observed because of the uniform acceleration between the two. I would illustrate what I would consider dilation disparity between the two by proposing that the conditions measured in the great voids in the interstellar medium may be the closest to a white hole that the relativity of a duel matter/antimatter universe would allow. I…

I'm sure everyone is familiar with the popularized model of gravity and general relativity that features a "latex grid" with a round object "sitting" on it, presumably being pulled down by gravity, stretching the latex and changing the geometry of the grid. The first question that pops into mind is, if this effect is creating gravity, what effect is pulling the ball down into the latex sheet? It would take gravity to make gravity. The second question would be, What is the latex representing? Or, if you are bending something, what is being bent in space-time? The statement "you cannot bend something without it being some thing" does seem to make sense. So we have a mo…

UPDATE: After receiving information from Mordered, I've concluded that this is incorrect. My original thought was to go with bosons +w -w and z, but I am not familiar enough with bosons and their calculations to draw such a conclusion. GUT predicts that at the physically unattainable GeV limit; quarks, electrons, and all matter are the same. This solution is like working backwards, using speed of C instead of energy acceleration to attain the same effect. 1 Red, blue, or green quark = √E/M = C, where C replaces the energy needed for the GeV limit of a particle accelerator @ the plotted point of Zz, (49th reflection when traversing through parallel glass), tho…

  24. Hello everyone, TJ here after a long vacation of study and speculation. I came here to ask a simple yet deceivingly complex question, Does general relativity Really agree with reality? Well before everybody picks sides or starts stating that Einstein was a brilliant man far above my level in learning which he was, I will present a few of my findings here. 1. In reality mass does affect the universe, but why then should mass effect the "fabric" of space when the universe is actually a dimensionless multiverse? Is that just our way of thinking of it or is the theory flawed at some specific point or is the entire universe actually limited? 2. In equation he account…
