Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

  1. Non topologically equivalent orientable surfaces in R3 The classification of all closed orientable smooth surfaces in R3 is a very well known result, the genus (or equivalently its Euler characteristic EC) of the smooth surface determine completely the equivalent class, the very first cases for that classification are: the sphere (EC 2), the torus (EC 0) and the double torus (EC -2), this is an image representing the three: image-01-non-equivalent-surfaces.jpg The fact that these closed surfaces are not topologically equivalent means that there is no homeomorphism ( a one-to-one smooth application(transformation) ) in R3 that can transfor…

  2. I was watch a documentary recently on human evolution and one of the scientist proposed that speech was likely a product of sexual selection. His theory rest on the idea that the utility of speech for activities like cooperative hunting seem dubious in it's early stages. He went on to explain that human speech more closely resembles bird song than the sounds animals make in cooperative defense or predation. By extension the suggestion is that music or rhythmic vocalizations precede coherent sentence structure. The utility then becomes attracting mates, soothing infants, and reducing aggression.

  3. Van de Graaff device and common sense in physics …. The working principle for Van de Graaff device is analyzed again in this material: http://elkadot.com/index.php/en/books/electromagnetism/van-de-graaff-device The actual explanation contradicts all we know about triboelectricity. It is impossible for the same belt to come into contact with two identical rollers and to deliver a positive charge to a sphere and a negative charge to another sphere. Either triboelectric series, either actual explanation for VDG device is nonsense. More than that, it is impossible to transfer a same type of charge from a body carrying a smaller charge to another body carrying a greater c…

  4. Tons of people have said that black holes completely defy physics and reroute what we have discovered as humans over physical science. Some people even state that black holes don't really exist, except that they do. People tend to think that a black hole is a point of infinite gravity, therefore creating the theory of no physics. That isn't the correct answer..... I've done math and came to the conclusion of a black hole not having infinite mass but rather something completely different. When sucked into a black hole, everything is rotating meaning that you will be going in circles around a defined point, but you will be going millions of light years per second m…

Here is a comment I wrote on a YouTube video, but I wanted to check with a science forum to see if there is any merit in my fictional imaginings of HOW THE DOUBLE SLIT EXPERIMENT WORKS: It turns out that subatomic particles are contained within an external bubble of thicker spacetime fabric, which is temporarily borrowed from any area surrounding it within the continuum. This fabric bubble prevents particles from disintegrating in slight friction. Fabric bubble surface tension is more repulsive with certain particles, so will allow some particle types to travel directly through dense matter (consisting of particles with their own bubbles of spacetime fabric). Bubb…

  6. This idea has little chemical/biochemical brain research behind it, and is more of a guess, and the patterns I see might be a result of confirmation bais, but consider this. Guess 1. There should be a mechanism that would cause an organism to "want to" survive and pass its pattern on to the next generation. Something that would reward the organism for "getting it right". Guess 2. Since smoking cigarettes, makes you feel good, for no particular reason, because Dopamine is released in your brain by the nicotine receptors, the release of dopamine for particular reasons may be associated with "getting it right" from a survival perspective. That is, feeling good abo…

  7. The magnoflux spin effect is a new physics explanation of how a magnetic field will spin if activated by a voltage at right angles to that field. In classical physics the ions would be attracted straight toward the anode or cathode but the magnoflux spin effect as demonstrated in the salt water cell shows that the deflection is accompanied by an extra un-accounted for spin. Watch the effect here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dllAJzPI0LY

Because information/intelligence will evolve. Anyone who reads this would not like to evolve? The Universe is evolving and that evolution´s starting point is most likely nothing. But can we count nothing as starting point? I mean this nothing has no space, time, energy, matter, information. It´s proportions are immeasurable. Than the first step of existence is something, everything in proportion to nothing but infinitely small in proportion to the currently observed physical reality. I would say that the first physical steps of the Universe has to be very delicate ones to support the process of evolution/evolving of the system. Otherwise we would observe reorg…

I came across this video while looking into île amsterdam and came across this article. It said that scientist are doing experiments to control the weather. I couldn't find any other evidence of this anywhere else. So I am bringing this to a more experienced person to hear your thoughts. Is this guy making all of this up or are there people trying to control climate there? If they are attempting to control the weather wouldn't this be more harmful than good? (As everything human creates is lol) Here is the site this guy made http://chemtrailsplanet.net/2014/10/26/conductive-aerosols-used-in-elctromagnetic-climate-change-experiments/ So let me know what …

  10. Hi. Thought of using the politics forum, but perhaps is safer here... All the fight of rebel/mercenaries/fighting groups filling the news, is it in pursuit/dream of some type of living ? Like waking up at seven, in an airconditioned house, birds singing by the backyard fruit trees; taking a shower with abundant clean water, having a good coffee, prepare a good breakfast for the kids, watching them walking away to the school bus, compliment the wife under the new burkha, helping her to make a supermarket shopping list, lend her your new car and she drives away for shopping... Get out to mow the very green lawn and tend the garden, pause for the morning pray…

  11. A body with relative motion (transitional not vibrational motion) to the Earth's frame of reference, got going in a certian direction by having a force applied to it, different than the forces being applied to its surroundings. This force had a vector quality associated with it. A magnitude, and a direction. Momentum is thusly outfitted. But kinetic energy is stripped of its direction and is a scalar quantity only. Just an amount, with no direction. There might be definitional reasons for this, but my speculation here is that the two, kinetic energy and momentum are related, and are not unrelated concepts. That is, when energy is added to an object or mass, by a for…

  12. Thermal Expansion due to energy in the nucleus: Energy/friction of nucleus causes heat/repulsive/expansive force that pushes against electrons (or otherwise smallest stable particle in the atom [consistent with gravity in general]). The position an electron lies in orbit clouds is due to the balance between this thermal expansion, and the attractiveness of the nucleus. There are many implications from this (and I'm still looking to see if certain tests have been performed, with their results). Avoiding other implications (for now), to the topic of energy and gravity. I believe gravity, as observed, described, and commonly understood, is Not true attractiveness, …

  14. S=ct/4 S - distance between observer and rotating object c - speed of light t - time of period of rotation of the object S is minimal distance till object when its kinetic energy completely is gravitational. When object moves to observer it radiates something at c, then the observer reflects the something and when the object is already escaping from the observer and recieving the something from the observer then gravitational interaction exists between them.

Now I made up a formula that might be mathimatically correct. This formula is about the creation of Gravity. This formula makes perfect sense and might solve some problems that can't be easily answered. Here it goes: V ÷ e = f = G Let's use the earth for example: 1.08321×1012 km3 ÷ 4,300 °C = 251909302.3 F in N = G So we use the earths Volume and divide that by it's Temperature to find out that this doesn't make a lot of sense. On a chart it does, so im not really sure if I can say this is correct or not. You guys can argue about it. I have a bold feeling, if it is correct but it might be possibly wrong... I thought about, the earth's volume and how t…

  16. Posted today 31st March 2015 Through the General theory of Relativity ,produced by Einstein , we have learned that MASS produces a distortion in space in a proportion to that amount of mass involved. As other fundamental forces have opposites . Eg Electrical positive charge has negative charge as an opposite . Magnetic fields appear to have North and South poles as opposites. If Gravity is a fundamental attraction towards , caused by a certain type of distortion in space as Einstein indicated. ( A ). What is a possible opposite force or repulsion ? ( B ). How can these counter distortions be achieved ? ( C) . Can Centrifugal forces be utilised…

  17. I have written my understanding of gravity into an essay , here is the abstract, "Velocity of an object can affect the gravitational acceleration. Black hole is an example where the light can form a circular orbit in the strong gravitational field. This light is moving around that causes the observer where is not in the path of the light orbit see the black hole as total darkness. In addition, when there is a high velocity of an object has been interacting with the gravitational acceleration, the object is in the micro or zero gravity relative to massive object therefor the gravitational acceleration does no longer exist." You can download the complete essay here …

  21. Hello All, Recently I came across the writings of Paul Eno, famous paranormal researcher, about his experience of how shamans can bring "dead" from another worlds. Here is the link: http://www.newenglandghosts.com/articles/backfromthedead.html And here is the article: "Nearly four decades of "in the trenches" research has led me far away from the two-dimensional, 19th century vision that most people cling to when it comes to the paranormal. For example, I don't believe that ghosts are spirits of the dead. I don't believe in death at all. When I deal with the paranormal, and ghosts in particular, I experience a vast "multiverse" in which we (bodies and all) function on m…

  22. If climate change is really a serious thing, then the biggest barrier is making it clear to people how series it is. I was reading up on the raspberry pi and learnt that it can record temperatures, so then i thought if we had every person recording the temperature with just a raspberry pi, surely thatd be useful for research or something? maybe temperature is not really that usefull... but, if you could get a good few million people recording some sort of data on our climate, what would be most useful for research? if any? thanks

First introducing the concept of Generating force from nothing If we have two opposite equal forces that affects an object so that the forces does not make displacement , i.e. No work is done then the forces can increase continuously without limit and without any external force just by itself and from nothing!! This is the concept of generating force from nothing. Proof: This experiment shows that the above concept is true, it uses the idea of canceling one force of the two mutual attraction forces between magnets : 1, 2 , 3 ,4 are identical magnets, 5 is an ideal spring , that conserve energy without loss ,the distance between magnets 1 and 2 equals dist…

  24. Let's say I've witnessed an event to where I've seen general relativity and special relativity falsified. Knowing that these theories are false, how is that useful? Would that mean there is another theory if not paradigm shift to discover? At the same time, however, I continue to believe in the paradigm of thought that anything can be mathematically described; however, the mathematical universe hypothesis is not absolutely valid.

A black hole can be made of an infinite amount of matter. So is it possible we live in a black hole? I think we might. The universe as we know it is constantly expanding. Or is it just a trick the distortion of space plays on our eyes? We could have fallen inside a black hole a long time ago. Way before the sun was even made. And here we are now, hurling around this gigantic black hole bigger than any super massive black hole recorded. As we gradually get closer to the center then space stretch's Exponentially. Causing the illusion we are getting farther from everything. If this were true then there. Could be millions of universes in a multiverse. What are your th…
