Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

William Kelly 1 November 2015 (Particle Scale: Infinite) Dominant Particle is relative to dimension LAW: multiple particles can and will co exist on the same point in space at any given time(dimension). The dominant particle is the one that is being reflected by light waves, takes up physical space and is furthermore dominant to human biological senses. Dominant particle is relative to dimension. Recessive Particles or non dominant particles in the human dimension is portrayed as black matter or “nothingness” or what lies beyond the universe “darkness”. It is possible for particles to co exist and no dominant to exist in the 3rd-1st dimensions. Outside of th…

The ability to recognize patterns seems to be one fundamental capability of neurons, neural nets, and brains; a second is remembering things. We remember original sensations and patterns that we have recognized. These two capabilities are Turing equivalent, except for infinite memory. Pattern recognition is essentially recognizing correlations. Within the past couple of millennia we recognized correlations cannot always be trusted, and developed the scientific method to avoid falsely recognized patterns. That people believe false patterns is understandable. Humanity thrived for a few hundred thousand years without the scientific method. That scientists think rati…

It's not easy for a no one to state something and have anyone listen. Maybe some one will read my assertion and champion it on their own. The Van Allen Belt is clearly electro magnetic. Naturally occurring in its origin or seeded and put there deliberately - might anyone speculate that the metals - especially the gold in the earth - perhaps the silver - taken from the ground of the earth might have an effect on the belts phenonina? The answer seems elementary. I wonder if others think I'm sleep deprived or have a genuine thought? Thanks for your thoughts. jerry

Introduction The complexity of the universe is possibly beyond the grasp of the human brain, as for your dog, your cellphone is just another thing to play with. A sign of this is when physics resorts to complex mathematical models which do not tie into a human way to visualize or understand. These mathematical models may not picture or explain how things work, but they do serve as important tools for performing certain calculations and predictions. They can also be important as names and placeholders for phenomena not yet fully understood and explained, temporarily allowing science to get around them and continue. A couple of examples are Relativity and Space…

  5. Dear Science Forums users, I'm writer from Finland and I'm doing my next work based on a world where the sea level has risen about 1000 feet. Is there any situation/natural disaster that could cause this kind of situation and if there is what kind of damages would that disaster make when it would happen. If there is even any wild suggestions that could explain that kind of situations, I would be grateful:) I would of course like to add you to "thank you" section if I can get somekind of help here from somenone. Thank you in advance!

Strong Force In today’s Standard Model, Strong Force is considered one of the four fundamental forces in the universe. Strong Force is described as the strongest of the four forces and as having the shortest reach. The composite dipole hypothesis described below suggests that Strong Force is the result of a multitude of dipole force vectors. These force vectors are both attracting and repelling. The fact that these different dipole forces are based on different dipole distances creates a complex resultant which is highly dependant on the distance between the particles. Let us start with two free protons placed in the vicinity of each other. Looking closer …

Here's a theory I made. Thoughts. Can you help with ideas. I also came up with a theory on electroms which was said to only need a Princeton backing by a physicist. My Theory talks about the infinite and how it can be located at a point. At a point it can be found but at no other place can it be found. Infinity at a point is infinite at all points but the point it's located making it about infinite. I will explain more in the paper why it's about infinite instead of infinite. A large piece of my paper is that infinity is everything . I talk about this throughout the paper. Here is my theory Part 1-discussion of infinity Infiniti goes on forever. It has…

Simulations suggest a model for gravity based on the ES charge of the individual constituents in atoms and neutrons. Said simulations show a possible ES mechanism for neutron gravity. 2D Charge Posturing and Gravity between 2 neutrons with trapped quarks: 3D Charge Posturing and ES Gravity between 2 neutrons: Recent calculations also suggest an experiment: Proposed neutron gravity experiment: Place a negative charge of 2*10^-18 Coulombs (=13 electrons) above a source of neutrons. Stir up the neutrons and see if they defy earth gravity by gravitating toward the charge above them.

So I came up with a theory to explain space expansion and I was hoping to get some feedback on it. I'm no expert by any means but I put in a lot of research and time so I thought I might as well see what people think about it. Please be kind with your feedback though, I'm already ify about sharing it, thank you. Fluid Mass Pressure Theory My theory is space and dark matter work like water. Imagine a bathtub, filled half way up and you get in it and the water rises to the top because of the added mass. What if, as planets and stars are formed, its increasing the total mass the universe, causing it to fill and expand? During my research Ive learned there are rough…

  10. Hey guys, I was just wondering what do people mean when they say "what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger"? And is this always necessarily true? In what situations is the statement true and in what situations is the statement false? When people say this do they mean "what doesn't kill you (but almost does) can only make you stronger"? What's the meaning of this? Has anyone ever heard of this common saying? If so, do you know what it means? Thoughts/opinions would be welcomed and appreciated! Thanks, Clara Tanone

  11. About radius of “electron particle” and the possibility of having it a structure. “ The Standard Model of particle physics is known to be incomplete. Extensions to the StandardModel, such as weak-scale supersymmetry, posit the existence of new particles and interactions that are asymmetric under time reversal (T) and nearly always predict a small yet potentially measurable, (on electron particle ?), of electric dipole moment (EDM), in the range of 10^-27---10^-30 e*r.” This extract is taken by the link given by moderator, in the case of one of my closed post. I am confused because, didn’t this means that range of radius of particle is r = 10^-8----- 10^-12 (cm?), and …

  13. Given only a single discrete object, is it possible to describe that object solely in terms of its structure? Let us define a discrete object P as an arbitrary piece of matter. What it is is unimportant. Let P constitute a matrix P' propagating infinitely in every dimension. Let us define each point in the matrix P' as P'(x,y,z,t, ...). Further, let every point in the matrix P' constitute a second similar matrix, P", also propagating infinitely in every dimension. Let us define every point in the matrix P" as, e.g., P"(x',y,z, ...), wherein x' denotes the x component of the previous matrix P' is being expanded upon. Let this pattern continue infinitely for…

  14. The conservation of energy implies an absolute reference in the universe. In SR, there is a relativistic mass term, which is connected to the energy balance. Space and time, apart from an energy balance, may appear relative. The relativistic mass term is often discounted and never used as part of relative reference because this is the thorn on the claw of the relative reference assumption. As an example, say we have two space ships in outer space, one with mass M and other other with mass 2M. While all the crews were sleeping, we gave one of the two ships velocity V using energy E. When they awake they see relative velocity V between them but can't tell who is who. W…

faster than light travel is possible by spacial dimensional manipulation. although this technology does not allow you to physically travel faster per say than light it simply allows you to take shortcuts in space. this works by generating an incredibly high density electromagnetic field, to where the flux lines of the magnetic field are incredibly close together. to generate higher density fields you simply have to increase the input volatge or current/power or energy. and inorder to do this you need a custom piece of technology called a vaccuum coil. a vaccuum coil uses tungsten based electron aura technology to focus, compress, and accelerate free electrons injected int…

Inside Gravitons This is a hypothesis which claims that the Graviton is a name and a placeholder, not for an autonomous particle, but for a mechanism which is the result of composite electrostatic forces between electric charges in particles and bodies. The diagram below shows two hydrogen atoms and illustrates the mechanism of dipole formation producing dipole gravity. The electrons orbiting the protons of the two hydrogen atoms have some freedom to deform their orbits depending on external influences. In the case of the two atoms below, each proton attracts the electron of the other atom while also repelling the proton of the other atom. …

  17. Hello! Just would like to share an idea about measuring variables in the social sciences (especially in psychology) more efficiently. E.g. let's try to measure the extroversion trait in a group (or in the population). Today our method is to construct a survey, which tries to measure the various aspects of this characteristic numerically (e.g. with the help of 1-5 scales). Then we apply a numerical model to the results, and get a final value for the extroversion quality of each individual. The problem with this approach is, that the end result is too closely attached to the actual survey and numerical model, and it cannot be generalized easily. Furthermore …

Imagine a big bang that occurs forwards and backwards in time from the origin, much like the mirror universe model. Now let's suppose both halves expand normally until later when they reach a critical point for selection as a stable half universe. One of the 2 halves fails, it begins to collapse backwards to the origin and deflate. In doing so like a balloon deflating it expelled some of its contents back through the origin (forward in time relative to the survivor). This action directly causes inflation in the remaining more stable half universe, now the whole. Some or all of the properties of the physical laws of the failed universe are also combined with th…

  19. The electron particle must have three electric charges! (A speculation from a layman) The energy of a “static” electron particle is equal: Ee = (-e) * (-e) / (4*pi*ε0* Re) =8.187104679*10^-14 joule …… II-1 “Re” is classic radius derived by Compton wave-length of electron. Am I wrong? My friend S… will say: Yes you are, I see only two electric charges in your formula. And “electron particle” has in fact only one electric charge. Let see the physic’s unity in my formula: Joule = C * C / m *F*m^-1 = C*C / C*(U*m)^-1 *m = C*C*C^-1*U*m /m= C*U The speculation consist: 1- The third electric charge…

Einstein's "On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies" (https://www.fourmilab.ch/etexts/einstein/specrel/www/) draws its conclusion based, at least in part, on Einstein's interpretation of simultaneity (generally, the point from which seemingly simultaneous events are observed dictates their perception, e.g., as simultaneous or "not simultaneous"). Einstein never explicitly defined simultaneity in this paper, but rather merely analogized to the arrival of a train when the hands of a clock were at a certain point. The problem that I see with this is the degree of imprecision implicit in this definition (e.g., when does "arrival" occur, how is the position of hands on a cl…

This is not a theory just a question, I was wondering about relative sizes. People often talk about what was before the Big Bang, Or what our universe is expanding into. if our universe was a virtual particle expanding into another universe just like a virtual particle that pops into existence into our universe, I was wondering how "entities" in this newly expanding universe would see the universe they were expanding into, while not realizing their universe was expanding into another universe. If from their view point a atom of "our hydrogen" was a star, how would they actually view "our" planet/stars/galaxies? what if this newly expanding universe was…

Just a question. I just seen Nobel awarded for neutrino oscillations. http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/physics/laureates/2015/press.html Wondered how this effects the missing mass in universe(dark matter) If a neutrino is now thought to have a mass of a billionth of the mass of a proton, There are 100's trillions of neutrino's passing through us every second, 100 billion per square cm, Even at these levels there must then be the mass of 100 protons passing through every square cm, But the density of space is worked out at 1 hydrogen atom per cubic cm? . But if the weight for neutrino's is correct, every cubic cm of space would always have the mass o…

Pulled over from a thread in philosophy, where this is OT I disagree that Einstein though time was a substance or essence. He held that because c must be invariant for E&M to work, if one applies that concept to a kinematic system, one finds that time and distance have to be frame dependent. The ether was a purported medium that was the preferred reference frame. That defined where the laws of physics held, and was the frame from which you would e.g. measure the speed of light. But nobody has been able to measure our speed with respect to the ether. Or that any particular reference frame is the one where the laws work. I can't make heads or tails of the diagra…
