Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.

Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

I have a theory that teleportation can be achieved by creating a point of infinite mass. I believe that the universe is just like Swiss cheese. Black holes are the holes. But all the holes are connected. If two people can coordinate and time it so one person goes though a black hole by using a black hole generator and the hole seals itself by sucking in itself. then the person who went in can come out a weak black hole by having a strong one suck him out as it closes itself.

  2. WHY THE FALLING MAN FEELS NO GRAVITY The ultimate unification of physics balances being and experience. The falling man feels no gravity but is experiencing acceleration. The man standing upright on the Earth/ground experiences full gravity as it is seen, felt, AND touched. This involves fully visible space and full distance in/of space as it is seen, felt, and touched. So, gravity and inertia are balanced in each case; as the gravity is understood as the acceleration is. Accordingly, the feeling of gravity is also understood as a balanced inertial resistance. The balanced inertia and gravity are understood as having increased together. This means that the experience of …

i have a power supply that i use for electrolysis and it's only DC. what if i was to try an AC PS for electrolysis? what would happen? (couple of shots at google revealed that this would apparently not work) my guess would be - nothing much, not that i tried, but there should be something happening there no? i'd be thankful to anyone who can explain the effect in a bit of detail.. edit: title meant to be 'electrolysis with/by AC'

  4. Saw this article on the web today. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/our-planet-is-among-the-first-of-many-many-earths/ar-BBmzHNh?ocid=spartandhp From what vantage point are statements like this made? For instance, if the entire universe is currently 13.8 billion years old, then Earths that developed at the 13.8 billion year mark are already "present". Which would make another Earth like planet, that is sitting on the other side of the Milky Way hundreds of thousands of years older than it looks, and would make the status of halos of dark matter around a distant galaxy 100 million lys from here, rather old news. The "Earths" that are about to develop…

  5. An innocent child would ask: I think we all agree that life is all about chemical reactions at the end. So lets make an effort forget everything for a moment and focus heartlessly only on the reactions part of the organism. Moreover, there is no reason to believe that these reactions are not arbitrary. Chemical reactions and Aging. If the phenotype of an organism is the sum of its chemical reactions, one thing is obvious. That these reactions become different as we age. However, we don’t know whether the initial reactions are programmed to change and lead to the latter ones, or the transition is a result of other events. In other words, is it possible to main…

I apolagize for my previous inability to explain my model of the universe in the past. it is very large, precise and dynamic. I've decided to focus on a single experiment that will prove or disprove my theory all together. The experment will involve a twist on a popular experment known as the double slit experment and it's most unusual and counter intuitive results. A scientist walks into his lab. He turns on the light and checks his equipment. The camera is there, but is not turned on. He does not consider that the lab, the electron canon, the double slit plate, and everything around him exists in a four dimensional space. (Length, width, depth, and time.) …

It is quantum wierdness. Particle non location that is. Something existing in two or places or more at the same time, or is it? Maybe it's intuitive to those with a proper line of thought. Surely we must realize by now that: The universe is expanding at different rates everywhere, all at once. Because if time is relative, so is location. I know, and makes sense. Everything above absolute zero in the uiniverse is moving. The universe itself is growing. Probably at the rate of all the distance created by every velocity exceeding the speed of light. Distance expands between every object that moves towards another object at a velocity exceeding the speed of light. R…

Aging. Cell metabolism and geriatric changes represent a change in physical state from a more stable one to a less stable one. Also count mental degeneration like senility.' Sickness. Cell wear and tear produce harmful changes in the organism, more evident in malignant tumors. (cancers). Deat…

I have thought about this for some time and though it was time to post to see what others think, anyway here it is: I have a hypothesis that everything everylivig thing has ever thought about, is either a window into another dimension, or a dimension is being created around that thought. That's all. I just wanted to know what others think. I am 13 and an aspiring quantum physicist.

If a disc was spinning in microgravity, and while the disc was spinning, the disc ejected some mass. The ejected mass would continue to travel in the in the direction of tangential velocity, but what would happen to the disc? Would it be pushed in the opposite direction of the ejected mass's tangential velocity? I am speculating that this is so, but I am not sure since I do not have access to microgravity to experiment.

This is another hypothesis of mine, I'm 13, aspiring quantum physicist, and don't have the recourses to test any of my theories and hypothesise. This may also already be a theory/hypothesis, but nevertheless, here go's: What if black holes are just gravity wells, or massive vortexes of entropy? Ok, so, what if as a star shrinks and dies it's gravitational field enlarges, which pulls in every quark in an immediate vicinity, which then collide with the photons, etc. explaining the theorised warp appearing around theorised black holes. Which would mean that black holes don't "go" anywhere, it's just everything that enters it's area gets... I don't really no the correct term…

  15. If the multiverse theory is true, it means that there are infinite number of planets, in fact infinite number of planets exact same as ours. There are infinite number of ''ME'' out there living the exact same life as me. Now you may agree or disagree of the theory, but if we take the path I did, which is that I believe in the theory, then I want to ask some basic questions: 1. If the theory is right and there is infinite multiverses out there , existing for eternity without beginning and without an end, does it mean that I personally , after I die, will live again the EXACT same life as I did this life, because according to quantum physics, energy can't be destroyed. Th…

If 2 mirrors were placed either side of universe & set in motion parallel to one another, for light to bounce back & forth between middle of them it would have to travel instantaneously & be given sideways momentum with each bounce. Sounds like Decoupling & fallacy of information traveling instantaneously. If I solve atomic clock time-dilation here now would I have proved my worth regarding eligibility for science funding?

I am 13, and an aspiring Quantum Physicist, I have started development on a paradox correcting "Time Travel" theory, and would like to know what others think. First of all I need to point out that my theory requires a 4th dimension, that being "T" or Time. Meaning that every point in time has its own coordinates, so with a controlled ionized wormhole you could "code" coordinates into Space and Time, without adverse effects, if my theory is proven to be true, that backwards time-travel as it is constantly perceived, is not possible, but instead time is another dimension in SPACE known as Time, this theory would allow "Time Travel" without causing any type of paradox, …

Good Evening everyone, I have once again a crackpot style hypothesis, but with some mathematics tonight. Before I allow you to begin poking holes in my hypothesis here are some basic rules for discussion. 1. There will be no copying of equations except for the purpose of peer review, this equation is my own, and I claim copyright and ownership of this hypothesis unless there is a hypothesis that has be proposed prior to this that has the same equations and general thought. 2. No personal judgement is to be rendered, only judgement upon the theory. (Basically no flames if you think this is insane and would like to beat up on me for it, after all all of us have insa…

  21. In recent months I have made 5 observations which are indirectly leading toward a possible theoretical insight into the possible underlying nature of gravity. Although physics is usually concerned with the HOW science works , rather than WHY a certain aspect of the natural world happens the way it does. Nonetheless 'sometimes ' probing the WHY can occasionally lead towards an insight into the HOW something scientifically works the way it does. This could possibly be the case with the observation I have made , with 5 gravity related phenomenon. 1. Many years ago when the children were small, I was able to raise Massive quantities of water , high up in their ro…

  22. Can’t be possible, a parallel “ gravity -- electric” interaction between Cosmos bodies? (One speculative question) Let suppose that cosmic bodies possesses electric negative charges free. And in amount proportional with their mass as below: Qx / e = Mx / Mun. = Nx Here Qx is the amount in Coulomb of electric free charges. Mx is the mass of cosmic body. Mun. = Mplank * sqrt(α^0.5) = 1.859389987 * 10^-9 kg. Nx = Proportion Then forces of electric and gravity interaction will be: Fe = Q1 * Q2 / (4*pi*ε * (D1-2 )^2) = G * M1 * M2 / ( D1-2)^2 For example: The electric and gravity forces between sun and earth. Qsun = e * Nsun = 1.706963894…

  24. This is speculations, so I need a bit of leeway just to express these thoughts. But don't hold back with ripping it to theoretical pieces, because I need that to erase these thoughts from my mind. Ive done a good amount of research about quantum mechanics and GR, but I dont have enough knowledge to disprove the thoughts I have. Here they are. In my understanding (which is probably where the issues will be) The gluon field exists as vacuum energy, which is to say, the gluon field is always present, regardless of the amount of matter or energy present. The gluon field is that which supports gluons in their role with QCD, quarks and their role with hadrons. Quarks make…

  25. Hello All, Recently I've read this article about quantum physics and the multiplicity of mind: split-brains,fragmented minds, dissociation, quantum consciousness : http://journalofcosmology.com/QuantumConsciousness102.html Here are few outlines: Preface: " Quantum physics and Einstein's theory of relativity make assumptions about the nature of the mind which is assumed to be a singularity. In the Copenhagen model of physics, the process of observing is believed to effect reality by the act of perception and knowing which creates abstractions and a collapse function thereby inducing discontinuity into the continuum of the quantum state. This gives rise to the uncert…
