Hi, I delete files with .tmp extension to recover my disk space. There are few tmp files, which I am unable to delete, why that happens. In my Temp folder I see files with extension .04w or .07w. There are many of them, what is their purpose, can I delete them. I want to ask about my .log files as well in my temp folder. Can you mention me their function, can I delete them. Please do answer my questions that would be nice of you.

Would it be possible for an organization like SFN to work together to make a new OS? Not that I think it would happen, but I have loads of ideas for a better OS. Make the taskbar better-have it be a box in the lower right-hand corner. Mouse over one part and a bar with all of your favorite programs' icons comes out across the bottom (or side). Mouse over a different part and the bar with all of the running programs comes out. Have a filter that asks you whenever a program tries to delete data or format a drive-protecting you from the effects of viruses. Have it come with Firefox and Thunderbird. Make a new idea for the "start" menu--for example, have it be part…

Here's a guide to get you quickly on the road to proving that those sad Windows people have no idea about computers, whilst you have personally transcended to another layer of understanding and are truly l33t. 1. Remember, all Microsoft programs are bad, regardless of what they are designed to do - they all have security holes and crash any PC at least 3 times per day. 2. Windows will allow any virus less than 6 months old straight into your personal files immediately. Of course any other OS (especially Linux) can crush these puny attackers without a second glance. The fact that people don't bother writing viruses to attack other OS's is meaningless and should be …

I have taken two, year long, highschool classes in programming, one was C++ at the basic level, the other was Java at the AP level. During my second year I wanted to make a program that just displays cool moving graphics things in lots of colors. Something similar can be seen in the "we'll be back soon" screen for That 70's Show, or as "plasma" (i think) in a package called "really slick screensavers". The way I went about doing it was to make a bunch of randomly moving Bezier curves that were random colors(in c++). I was going to flood fill the space between them with their respective colors and use an algorithm to make it fade smoothly from one to the other. But i…

Not console emulators, but OS emulators. I heard someone who had just gotten a mac G5, and saying that the emulator for Windows was so good blah blah blah. Supposedly they're as fast as a good PC and a crash of the program it's running doesn't kill the computer. Is he just repeating what the ad said or is this true?

It was only a matter of time before someone unleashed malware that exploits the JPEG GDI+ vulnerability. Over the last two weeks various people have released proof of concept code in stages. The first code base that consisted of a corrupted JPG image file that caused an application to crash. The second code based was a JPG image that spawned a local command shell with no remote access. Within hours of the second code base released another person claimed to have made the command shell bind to a port for remote access. Now someone has taken matters to a greater extreme by unleashing a JPEG file that causes a buffer overrun where shell code is run on the affected system. …
