I notice that several discussion forums have very recently been enjoying the 'benefit' of new members that are sowing cleverly worded misconception as answers to simple questions including some older threads. Has anyone else noticed this or noticed it here ?

Or has the traffic to this site significantly diminished since the change?

Greetings. Has anyone seen, had, known about a wind-up toy car of the sixties like the one I gave away in the seventies to a deserving kid and now as an old fart would like to have again ? Was a German Schuco brand, Mercedes Benz, convertible, green, wind-up, with a 2cm working stick shift between the seats, 2 or 3 gears, reverse, steerable, ~16cm, metal but cannot remember if diecast or tin, never seen an equal one for sale. Although I would guess that fewer than 1% of North Americans speak with a lisp, after living for 13 years in England I would have to say that about 10% of the people there speak with a lisp, often in such an extreme form that they are nearly incompwehensiboo. I wonder why a lisp is so common there but so rare elsewhere? It is not unusual, lately, to log on and the new Topics list is totally populated by Religious topics with the odd gender/sexuality related topic. Used to be Science related topics with the odd Political topic. I long for the 'good old days' when a science discussion would go on for many pages. Have 'our' interests changed drastically, or are we encouraging people who get tossed from other forums to come post their unwanted topics here ? Does it correspond to darkening degradation of pigments; is it related to lack of illuminated interiors of the times, or to focus attention to the intended image, or was it the background trend of paintings ? Saw it somewhere and did not pay enough attention. Decided to try... Dissolved the gelatin packet, I did not heat too much as thought the alcohol would evaporate, so to the refrigerator went and did not 'set'. Gelatine cubes of gin and a piece of fruit (mandarin) suspended inside, but poor result . What went wrong ? Does it need boil hot activation ?

I have just joined Sam's Club in America recently to try to save money on things like gasoline, dog food, eggs and meats. I have found some good savings, but I don't like the notion that I must be forced to use my mobile telephone in order to transact business at Sam's or anywhere else. My phone is OK to summon an Uber ride, I guess. Sam's Club will no longer issue physical membership card to its members forcing them to be a prisoner of their phone. I had to have a gas station attendant show me how to use my phone to pump gas into my automobile. The Sam's Club app is about as difficult and slow to load into my Android 9 Moto E6 phone as the Walmart app. …

Is anyone else following the "drone" problem in New Jersey? I don't understand what all the hubbub is about. Nearly every video I've seen are obviously light aircraft, they even sound like light aircraft. Aircraft with landing lights! I have lived near an airport for many years and yes aircraft at night can look odd but I honestly do not see anything to this, it's all or at least mostly hype. It's concerning that many of these aircraft, whatever they are, have been sighted over restricted airspace like Langley air force base and so far I've not seen any videos of those "drones" but all the ones I've seen, in NJ, have aircraft running lights in standard configurations and …

It seems to me the new year should have started about 10 days ago, at the point when the days are the shortest. How did this day become the start of a new year? Also what is the point of having 12 months - why not just have four "seasons" each about 91 days long. Just random thoughts I guess.

For American new-car market. No thrifty little Scout truck as promised. Tacoma truck prices ever soaring. Still no plug-in battery electric trucks. Working out and exercise help, as does awesome craft beer, but I’ve recently begun to get into woodworking. There’s a certain zen about it. For while now, I've been slowly trying to learn Finnish, since it was the natural tongue of all my grandparents. However this isn't going to be strictly about that but abut learning languages in general. They often start by teaching you a few simple phrases, that may come in useful, (hello, my name is... etc.) One of those phrases is often along the lines of "Do you speak English(or whatever language you normally speak)? I would like to create a little room here for the wonderfully unexpected, beautiful,... (add your adjective) in Nature. Unexpected and/or beautiful could be interpreted as curious/spectacular, or similar. I mean to use these examples in order to keep the kids interested in Nature.
