I have to build a project for my physics experiemtn, it will take place over hmm about 2 months or so. One person is building a telescope (trying to) I wanted to build a rocket, but since i've never built one and they are dangerous and this is high school I will probably definately not be allowed. Another thing i thought of is a rocket car or something similar, dunno exactly how to build it, but it would be easy to do research on and easy to talk about the results (time of movement, how far it went, top speed) Any ideas people? Thanks..

I know its easy but I've been staring at books for that long my brain has ceased and my head is spinning(doesn't help being dyslexic) can anyone help and please, please keep it simple. James-Lange and cannon-Bard theories of emotion give one criticism of each theory. Thanks

I take this time to ask those part of the Sciforums community to identify themselves now that it has apparently gone under. I used to go under apendrapew. In other words, I exchanged one moronic alias for another . I noticed you, Invert Nexus, are posting here, which inspired me to inquire others from sciforums who also may be under alterative aliases.

...that out of 14 threads on the "New Posts" list, only five are related to science? I guess it's more fun to debate religion or ethics than to talk science. And debates typically last longer than a science thread, which just has an answer and quits (most of the time).

I was reading http://www.nytimes.com/2005/04/24/magazine/24TV.html?pagewanted=print&position= and wondered whether the benefits of TV are known well enough. If you had children and deprived them of TV, what sort of behavioral damage would you expect? Would they be more like to become misfits?

Ok, there aren't many things in this world that grabs my attention, but a chance for some free cash isn't something I want to turn down. Its only been around for a couple of weeks now, so yeh, get in quick before they start restricting it. http://netbux.org/?r=109369 Here is the basic gist. You need a paypal account (which is free to get, no cc needed) is the main thing. Sign up for one of those, then go register here. http://www.paypal.com The persoonal acount is the free one. You signup, and you use their homepage (netbux.org) to forward your way to google. All that is different (and what actually is the catch) is that they put ads up the top of the…

I have been wondering about what kind of pet I want to get once I move in with my girlfriend. I am definitely set that I want some form of medium or large type of reptile, but I don't know which one would be best. Here are my options; Bearded dragons are friendly and easy to keep. They are a good option, but I kind of wanted something more interesting. Varanids such as water monitors are said to be aggressive at first, and require large enclosures but are beautiful and make great pets. Snakes such as ball pythons or kingsnakes are beautiful and easy to handle, but I don't really want anything that has to eat live food. Turtles can be interesting, but I have had Red-Eared …

I have a question that I hope some will be kind enough to answer. Does anyone think it is possible to use a laser to transmit data instead of traditional delivery mechanisms (i.e., cable, telephone line)? What are the physical limitations?

Hi, new here and im looking for information. A while back i learned about a certain social experiment about adding something new to an excisting enviroment and how people will automatically split into groups without thinking about it on their status of that certain object. One example of the experiment was that if you take an object widely used in one area but is only sold far from that area and buy a stack of that object and sell it in the place its used it for a higher price because of convenience. That people would split into groups of people who hate it and say "i can just go to that place and buy it cheaper" others welcome it and another group stay neutra…

The gardening season is about to begin for most Americans (and I imagine most people on SFN). So let's hear your plans! I've already got about 15 potatoes in the ground. I'm also going to have some tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, pepperoncinni (hopefully, but if not then banana) peppers, and sugar snap peas. Maybe a few herbs or anything else that catches my eye or I think of. I also want to get a type of plant called a brugmansia. I think it's pretty neat and would like to try it (if you have one then please let me know!)
