Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

  1. It only seems to make sense to me that if time slows down the faster you move, then time, for you, is moving faster...and this goes along with physics, as well, whereby frozen particles moving slowly last longer (a frozen person can last a long time and then be unthawed) and quicker things (hotter things) burn up. So if time is moving faster for me, I am aging quicker, right? Whereby the earth itself is still aging slower--because its time is moving slower. It's like traveling in a faster car than someone else--they're still going slower, I am going faster. Likewise, if I'm 5 times faster than them, it takes them 5 times as much time to age as me...so, traveling at th…

Could Mars actually have true color as earth? Because there is some evidence that NASA maybe hiding something from us. I found a website where it shows Mars with true colors not rusty red. http://xfacts.com/spirit2004 it seems pretty logical to me. Share your opinions on this.

I'm putting it in here because I'm not game to ask the question in a more "serious" forum. Since you can't have an electric current without an accompanying magnetic field. And since both magnetism and electricity both behave in sometimes bizarre fashions. Is it possible that electrons don't actually exist? What I mean is, is an electron analogous to a photon? Depending on how you look at it, light can be percieved as either a particle or a wave, hence "wavicle". Could electrons and magnetism have a similar connection, a "fieldicle" as it were? I'm not pushing this a theory, it's just something I've wondered about from time to time. Cheers. (Could we h…

I have absolutely no proof for this but it works for me. I thought this up a few years ago, the funny thing is I had (and if I’m honest still don’t) no idea about physics at all, just a C grade GCSE. After this I went a bit mad thinking I was a new messiah to the world for a few months. It was a very interesting time in my life. The universe is constantly imploding and exploding in and out of two…erm…big bits of nothingness. At the point where it has dispersed as much as it can in our universe it is at its point of most compressed in the other. Our universe is basically a huge version of a black hole and a white hole in two… …is there a word for the outside of th…

  5. If I had to define love in a scientific context; It is when or heart muscle acquires a shape that allows a resonance throughout the body resulting in certain biochemical responses. The most intense of these states is called rapture. If you never experience rapture it can be described as an orgasm of the heart. This phenomenon seem to happen to individuals at unexpected moments. One thing I could tell for certain is this force hits like waves of “love energy” that seems to want to dissolve your physical structure. Another distinct feeling is that this force is emanating from a conscience entity. This feelling seems to act as a carrier wave embedded with in the “…

The universe designs networks of finer and finer connections. Intelligent systems are the finest of these networks, embedded inside a whole hierarchy, like layers of an onion. The First layer we theorize was the big bang. This initial pulses of energy sends out waves of energy and atoms that curl into points of swirling matter. At the center of this points vortices form. From these black holes implode sending out a second pulse a gravity waves. These waves curl into points forming stars bound into the matrix of the galaxy. This structure contains a balance of forces enabling all points to interact though gravity. Some stars explode then create complex elements in a thir…

  10. The Second Ring of Life; The Vesica Attractor by Christopher Humphrey Abstract The fossil record shows a disparity in the formation of complex body plans. The individual eukaryote cannot build these structures. They do not carry within themselves a blue print for an overall structure. Science today is attempting to answer these questions via genomic constraints. Recently discovered fossil evidence has led this author to develop a new evolutionary model that suggest the following; The missing information in the original body design was provided by a wave function acting on a mass of oolitic spheres bound by a microbial substrate. [dissipative structure] Th…

  11. Precisely, and if other things happen in season, then what does evolution have in store for us for the upcoming new astrological season of the Aquarian age? Perhaps humanity's "season of love" by their "testis" bloom in season. An astrological age/season is some 2,100 years long. Pisces age began around when Jesus lived, what now can we expect? Evolution has been occurring for some 3 billion years, right? That's quite a lot of time to be evolving and responding to seasons. Perhaps some ages (seasons) ago, we went into hibernation, and now as the Aquarian age comes, what if evolution is discarding of this cocoon (the flesh) and we are blooming like bird testis? Just …

This post has been put in the pseudoscience section, due to the wackiness of it's nature. It's sole purpose is amusement. If you could redesign yourself genetically, to become a new species what would become? Also, other people might be involved, like if you could get a huge number of people also to become this new species, what would you want to become? Also, you can integrate science(nanotechnology, fusion, whatever) into your design as a species. Like you could say, "I am a lizard man, who is cybernetically enhanced like the borg." Essentially, this post is for making up new species, or what new species you would like to become. Have fun!

The efficiency of words can be altered 0%, 20%, 50%, 80-90%. The unfulfilled and unavailable percentages are due to the english languageand the lack of efficient words spoken to the public. No polititian, judge, president, known scientists, "genious", etc. has NOT spoken any words above the efficiency of 60%(est.) to 99% within any thought structure of any perception known. Words that are 100% in efficientcy would be the words in the ancient man Enoch's vocabulary. The efficientcy variable is subliminal/psychological in effect, more accurately which would be it mimics the feelings construct at a higher percentage when the efficiency percentage is raised. The words wr…

Is it possible for two objects to occupy the same space and consist of the same matter at the same time? I am a philosophy student and while doing research for this I realised how far I could go before I become quite limited, what do science minded people think of this and whatever your answer why do you think so?

  17. This idea came out pondering the question if scientific research is limited in what it can achieve. Evolution is the process that can lead to the organization of matter as complex as the human mind. Scientific research can lead to different (not necessarily as complex) organizations of matter. There may be other processes in the universe which do not follow neither evolution nor man's scientific research to achieve even more complex and sophisticated organizations of matter. Maybe plasma effects at the center of stars or similar. The point is that matter may be organized into very complex structures like the mind but through different processes. There may be barriers …

I've considered, and it's becoming increasingly more apparent that this is so. If you look at the ocean and then see the way things evolve upwards, onto land, and then into the air, you will indeed be able to look at a gnat, a fly, or even a bird as if it were a fish in the ocean--swimming, with fins (their wings) in a sea of air with coral-reef trees and the like. If you look at a gnat, or any other flying insect, you begin to see that their entire life is revolved around flying. But just what does this mean? A fish's life is also revolved around swimming...perhaps we should look at them the same. They're not very different, the air is to a gnat what the water is to …

  19. Wow, what a scary looking mouthful of a thread title. This belongs in pseudoscience and metaphysics for a reason, I'm sure you're thinking. Well, it certainly does, and given that, let's proceed... Okay, given that all of the elementary particles in the standard model, as well as are a number of things we can't yet explain, are composed of little vibrating one dimensional energy strings, and given that these strings form larger, extradimensional structures (p-branes and d-branes), the movement of everything in this universe carries on outside of it. We witness extradimensional connections forming all the time when we witness quantum entanglements, for example in th…

  20. Well, it seems to me that it is only logical that all bodies are like bubbles. If you were to study bubbles more, you would probably learn about gravity and all sorts of things. I also wonder if gravity is atmosphere and friction. Basically, if an object gets caught in with other elements, namely gaseous elements, it will begin to form planets and higher gravity depending on the element's weight. So, as an object move into earth's atmosphere, the elements then buildup--so, moving through the force of the weight of the elements, an object will simply be forced downward. The further down it moves, the more pressure there is (because the pressure of the elements above i…

  21. Can you make this sentence a bit clearer? If you follow the laws of physics in many different angles, scales, etc., you will see them all echoing (whether large or small). So, whereby you see an atom with a nucleus and electrons spinning around it, as material manifests in larger proportions, you begin to see atoms being rebuilt on a larger scale (solar systems, galaxies, etc.). As such, such comparisons and analogies are not necessarily to induce deeper thinking alone, but such analogies may and often are precisely and objective. If you were to equate life to the biological span of a pregnancy, then death becomes another biological and conscious (HUGE) event/transfo…

umm... I really don't know where this could go so I put it here. Maybe if there was a mythology forum. Also I'm not sure if this was discussed already, I tried searching, haven't found anything, but since it is a very intriguing subject... Anyway.. I saw this documental on dragons. Off course there's no evidence they exist yet, but the documental pretends they really existed and forms an awsome story and background on dragons. They explain how they've evolved from the cretaceous era till the last one that was killed by knights and dragonslayers in medieval europe. I thought it was really well made. Just wanted to see any thoughts on this, I particularly find it intrig…

http://www.thefinaltheory.com This was advertised in the ad at the top of a page around here, so I thought I would take a look. Apparently this guy has a theory about how the universe works and how all science is wrong. Then he takes the physicsforums thread about it and gives that as proof, stating that all they are doing is argue over it. So I thought I would run the idea past the people here, to see what we'd all say. If possible, someone could get the author to register here and put up a defense. In a minute or so I'll start working on a debunking of his theory, but I'll do that separately so you all can start yours sooner. note: this goes along with my inter…

After decades of hype regarding how fast and how revolutionary scientific research was supposed to be, here we are in a world that is indeed almost identical to the one of 30 or 40 years ago. Yes we may have more "gadgets" but aside from the internet and only a few really new technologies or discoveries, all the hype surrounding science is revealing that it was only hype. Companies and governments spend less and less on basic scientific research, they prefer to create combination products ony to sell more like cell phones with cameras etc. All the revolutionary applications of computers haven't changed none of the fundamentals of the world, we still need gas to go aroun…

I was reading somewhere that there is a theory that says all the energy that gets pulled into a black hole comes back out of a white hole. Then it said the problem with this theory is that white holes haven't been discovered yet. What if the stars are white holes? Although we have theories, we have never proven exactly what causes a star to burn. What if it is the light and energy that is pulled into black holes? Another part of my theory is that the universe is like two pieces of paper. What if most of the stars are on the top piece, and most of the black holes are on the bottom piece? If my theory is true, we would live on the top piece. In the space between …
