Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.

Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

I didn't really know where to put this post in the forum. I decided it probally mostly fitted in here. I have a box, inside is truely a vacumm does inside the box exist?? Obviously you can see inside the box let if there is nothing in the box can a nothingness be an existance. In affect if nothing is an existance then nothing can end because it can't be surrounded by nothing if nothing is an existance. I know this is terribly worded, but your thoughts please.

One of the more weirdest theories in science, the hollow earth theory has to be my favorite. History: Now, I ask all of you, whether you think this theory is possible (and if so, how likely) in the realm of other worlds? I'm entirely sure that the Earth is very thick with stuff in the middle.

Science is a system of arbitrary symbols and interactions dependent on a mind interacting with the universe. Imagine a mind A, having a completely different cognitive organization (memory, emotions, sense organs, thought processes) etc. This mind would interact with reality according to a completely different set of rules from our science, but as such it would always be completely coherent and valid for mind A. Thus a completely different and new science would be valid for mind A. Therefore changining mind structures you can create an infinite number of different sciences. This came up when analyzing what would happen if we started to modify how our neurons…

I`m putting this idea in here as it`s only half formulated and I might be totaly wrong! that however is NOT an excuse for anyone to posts about aliens or god and sh!t ! so here goes... I was considering Dimensions, 2d can be represented on paper as a + sign. it has length and width X and Y axis. in 3D a Z axis is needed for height, so it`s like the + with a line running through the center making a full 720 degrees of space. now then, for anything wishing to interset all of these coords simultaniously step by step, picture this the + with line trough the center is placed in a square box, each of the boxes 6 faces has one end of a line in the middle of it. …

Beware SETI (Search for extraterrestrial intelligence) researchers. Advanced civilizations may be undetectable. Such a civilization would learn how to modify their neural circuits, therefore changing all their mind structures. How information is organized, processed etc may be changed arbitrarily. This may create artificial emotions, sentiments mind states, superconsciousness etc. This internal universe may end up being mind boggling complex and interesting. The combinations are huge, each neuron may be a particle accelerator, chip, virtual reality etc. They would no longer communicate with the outside universe because they would be too busy exp…

Kay, i'm putting this here because it's simply totally based on my curiosity, and has no practical application that I'll ever be part of, if any exist... so, if there was a pipeline that carried high pressure liquid oxygen, and it ruptured spewing the substance into the air (say it's about 88 degrees f. outside) would the liqid O2 revert to gas instantly, or would it remain liquid for a little while? If you were in the way and got splashed with it, would you be "wet" with it for a few seconds, or would it just be like getting hit with deadly-cold vapor? I guess to narrow it down, if you took a glass of liquid O2 out of your superfridge, for how long would it still…

  9. A contradictory item (or concept, or object ) is the only one that exists in the universe because it can deceive all logic and reasoning and as such does not depend on any reasoning to exist. If contradictory item A is such that A=3 and also A=17, and A exists and A also does not exist, then A is the most sure thing to exist because it can always escape any logic regarding its existence. Its existence does not depend on any logic any rule or any constraint, not even the one of being true or false. It is hard to reason with this item because all reasoning breaks down, but this proves that it is the most sure thing possible, since nothing can contradict it, as it actual…

  10. I found this article on the internet: This shows a real-time plot of the nested magnetic fields around my own head. The white lines of the overallur, the green the Hypothalamus plus Thalamus field, the red the Hippocampus plus Amygdala cycloid-shaped field (semi-circular), and the dumb-bell shaped blue is the Epyphisis (Pineal) and Hypophysis (Pituitary) combined fields. I wrote this algorithm myself with the help of Professor Penrose -- another unofficial favour -- to map the magnetic fields using both the SQUID sensor helmets and a special helmet designed by Dr. Z having Delta-T and Delta-Wye transforms, having specially designed magnetic coils …

Hello All, I am not an educated man. I am not a man of great intellect, as you will witness within these intellectual machinations. I had a number of friends in my youth who were intellectuals, most going on to study in physics, calculus, engineering and what-have-you. Myself, I am a creative soul truth be told. Although, probably more from a philosophical angle, I did enjoy varied discussions on all manner of sciences with these friends. I am sure you have experienced these sorts of group discussions where you could start out discussing your new car and several hours later the subject has somehow morphed into black holes. Well.. I don't have any contact with thes…

Is any memory real ? After experiencing something it becomes the past, afterwards the reality of that something that "happened" only remains in our memory of the "event" and some of the consequences. But could we invent fake memories and would they be just as real as real memories ? After all, they are non-tangible, only an image (sometimes dreamy) and only with some logical consequences which could be even due to other causes and not the events we "remember" and think have had consequences. If so, than we can "invent" any memory and assign it as "real" and it would be just as "real" as real memories.

Evolutionists pronounce the name of one single creature in response. This is the fossil of a bird called Archæopteryx, one of the most widely-known so-called transitional forms among the very few that evolutionists still defend. Archæopteryx, the so-called ancestor of modern birds according to evolutionists, lived approximately 150 million years ago. The theory holds that some small dinosaurs, such as Velociraptors or Dromeosaurs, evolved by acquiring wings and then starting to fly. Thus, Archæopteryx is assumed to be a transitional form that branched off from its dinosaur ancestors and started to fly for the first time. SPECIAL LUNGS FOR BIRDS The anatomy of bird…

The concept is not as abstract as it may seem. Science is developed in a loop of continuous interactions from Reality to the Sense organs(hand, eye) to the Mind and back again from Mind to Sense organ(hand) to Reality as this diagram Reality ®, Senses(S) and Mind(M) shows: R -> S -> M R <- S <- M Up until now M has always been fixed, but changing M everything changes. In this sense there would be a new and different science. We can imagine also wildly changing S by the way. An interesting thing is that we can imagine there being an intermediate "invisible" layer called a "Presentation" layer that presents the information from the previous layer in…

In my opinion the deep meaning of logic, is the method that can help us to survive and flourish day by day in non-trivial ways. We as individuals and a part of a civilization can survive and flourish if and only if we develop our internal/external constructive dialog between us and our environment, in non-trivial ways. In short, logic is THE ART OF THE DIALOG that keeps and develops non-trivial complexity which is based on simplicity. Through this point of view, there is no room to scholastic methods that do their best in order to keep their abstract purity by doing their best to disconnect themselves from the non-linear and non-trivial complexity of daily lif…

I asked my friend if he believed that psychic abilities exist. His reply was, "It'd be cool if it did. I wish it exists. But I don't know. I can't say for sure." Then I suggested to him that we practice on our psychic abilities. I pulled out a deck of 40 cards (I took out the kings, queens, and jacks), shuffled it, and layed it on the ground. We took turns guessing exactly what it was, like 7 of hearts. For me, what I did was ask myself what color it was, then what suit, then what number. I don't remember the results of the first time we tried, but it wasn't too shocking. Sure, we had a couple exact hits, but that could be luck. Then my friend suggested that the…

Okay if time travel to the future is possible free will would not exist. Here is why. Imangine that one of your friends went forward in time one day and there he sees you eating ceral at 10:30 then travels back in time to the time he started from. There he tells you that you will eat ceral at 10:30 tommorrow. Now at 10:29 you have a choice to make eat ceral or not to eat ceral and according to free will you could choose either but since it is already known that you will eat ceral at 10:30 you have to eat it therefore violating your free will. I want to know what people think about this. crap i just noticed i posted this in the wrong forum can a moderate move this oh we…

  20. There are many problems with the scientific viewpoint about how life on this planet started. Spontaneous Generation: The idea that non-life can become life. This theory was disproven by Redi and later more completely disproven by Louis Pasteur in 1864. I don't see how lifeless matter, without even proteins!, could become life. The first form of life that is suggested is the "microsphere". Even if it did exist and come alive, how would it evolve into anything else? If a change meeting of dead matter became life it would be so simple that it wouldn't have any kind of DNA or RNA or anything else needed for evolution to take place. And it would be so impossible that even i…
