Speculations
Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.
The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:
- Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
- Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
- Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.
The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8TJlQlPi4s (SKY NEWS - official vid) from the article: ... A Zero point magnetic power generator is basically a Free Energy Generator. It uses magnets, and magnetic force to induce perpetual motion. It runs by itself, indefinitely without stopping, thus creating completely free electrical energy... A Perpetual motion device refers to a machine that runs perpetually i.e. indefinitely, and produces a larger amount of energy than it consumes. Thus, it produces free energy indefinitely, runs by itself, without having to need a third-party device or resource to power it... WHAT DO YOU THINK?

It is a proven fact that evolutionists (people who believe evolution is a proven fact) go bald early. Most evolutionists are men and this is what happens to them for holding false beliefs. If you compare the heads of evolutionists to creationist/ID proponents you will see the differences. Creationists and ID believers keep there hair well up to their 80s. Chuck Norris is a Christian, creationist he is 70 years old and has all of his hair. Evolutionists charles darwin, herbert spencer etc all lose there hair in their 40s. This shows that evolutionists are wrong in their beliefs. Are you an evolutionist? You will go bald early, have bad health and die e…

Would I be right in think that: 1. In order for a rainbow to exist; it must be observed 2. There are as many rainbows as there are people looking at rainbows. The reason I ask is this. A while ago I was at my mothers house, her lounge has an extensive view over the Solent. (Solent: a straight of ocean between the Isle of Wight and main land England) I was stood at the window, while she was sat on the couch, about 6' away. We both observed a rainbow. She asked "You have a better view of that rainbow than me, how far round does that rainbow go? How big is it? my view is obscured by the window frame." "From my point-of-view, I can see both ends of it touching the …

Is it impossible to know the noumenon? I don't think so. Kant's distinction between two forms or terms 'Phenomenon' - the world as it appears through the sense organs and 'Noumenon' - the world which is unknowable and helps the mind in producing the phenomenon according to Kantian terms is quite familiar to all of us. Kant argued that all our known knowledge had to arrive to the mind transformed through the sense organs. So the only knowledge we have is of the phenomenon. The things which appear around us or in the physical world are not the things that exist in the actual physical world (i.e. the noumenon world) they exist only in our minds and has to the exact nature of…

The model of hydrogen atom that the electron moves in the center field produced by the proton is the inevitable result with pure classical theory, and the reduced mass of the electron must be introduced to correct the result. With QM (quantum mechanics), we accept and select this model which belongs to pure classical conception to build Schrödinger equation of it, but then deny the classical motion of the electron. I think that is self-contradictory. Since we have the perfect description about the particle by QM, so could build the model of hydrogen atom with it. Why don't we build the model of hydrogen atom independently by QM? more inforrnation see: http://www.sc…

Michelson-Morley Experiment (MMX) is one kind of optical interference of two beams of light. So the explanation of the the results from MMX should depend on the conception of light interferenc. The two coherent light sub-sources (S and S') are made by the splitter mirror in MMX, and a time difference will be produced by moving media. Meanwhile the space difference of the two sub-source will be produced too, i.e. the position of S' will not be at the same point with S, as shown in follow figure. Optical interferenc at the observation point O in MMX Thereby, the Optical interference fringes at observation O is determined by the difference of optical path between S-…

First of all: I'm just a high-school kid with no scientific education. I'm just sharing my thoughts on a topic that I deal a great lot of interest in. I would love to be corrected as I'm sure that there is plenty of flaws in my "theory" Stem cells can create new, young cells, correct? In theory, placing stem cells on a cut you got on your hand would make the skin in the area pretty much like the skin of a baby? And one will die once the telomeres of the chromosones grows so big that the cell can no longer handle it? Then, what if one replaced the cells, used plenty of stem cells and created new cells? Wouldn't this erase the concept of aging, at the very least expend…

Not sure just how much on the up and up it is, but one of my kids emailed this to me: so I went on the internet to check it out. Sure enough, it was there! At least ten different versions. Maybe it's like a Rhino and a King Cobra being best pals, I don't know? Or does someone just make this stuff up? Well, at least the two seem to get along pretty good together and started me wondered if they were coked up or tokin on a bit of weed? Even then, it would have taken quite a while to pull this stunt off. But do things like this actually happen in the wild? I saw some time back where a 30 year chimp had blinded his masters friend and chewed her face off, but nothing like this.…

There isn’t any experimental evidence to support special relativity! It’s said that special relativity can be used to interpret phenomena such as mass increase of high-energy electron, life-time dilation of high-energy meson and so on, so it’s assumed as the experimental evidence to support special relativity in the field of physics. However, Lorentz’s theory can also be used to interpret these phenomena which will be considered as the experimental evidence to support Lorentz’s theory in the field of physics if there is no special relativity. For example, in 1938 Ives and Stilwell first detailed spectral measurement of the hydrogen atom and proved that movement result…

There are three (possibly four) types of object in the world, two of which are the subject of physics. Of these three objects, one is a material object, another is an object of experience (like colours and sounds), and the third type of object is a quantum object. Material objects obey the laws of material objects: they do not vanish and appear but they can be hidden and revealed. Perceptual or experiential objects obey the laws of experience: they vanish and appear but cannot be hidden or revealed. But what are the laws of quantum objects? Quantum objects seem, or are claimed, to vanish and appear like experiential objects, yet also can be hidden and revealed l…

This idea came to me this morning. The best way to explain my line of thought is with a well documented observation. The fossil data indicates that life began in the water (oceans) and eventually migrates onto the land to become the land animals. Let us look this evolutionary transition in slightly different way. After billions of years of life evolving in water, the vast bulk of the DNA had evolved to the needs of living in water. When animals begin to walk in land, this transition could only have represented a small fraction of the total genes. What this says is the inertia of a billion years of genetic evolution to the needs of living in water, was more or less tr…

I don't recall where, but I heard a quote that, "a black hole is what you get when nature divides by zero". At first I shoved it to the back of my mind and disregarded it as nonsense, but later I started thinking about it again after learning about time dilation when high numbers are involved. Could it be possible that the Planck time is like the dt for the universe, and each next phase is calculated by a giant computer that uses Euler's method? If this is the case, a black hole really could be when nature divides by zero, and as numbers get bigger (close to speed of light or high gravity near black hole), it takes longer to do certain calculations, so time slows do…

can several low power laser beams (7-8 milliwatts violet-ultraviolet) be focused into a single beam equivalent to the sum of the low power beams? would there be energy loss due to interference? if so how much? could a huge array of normal (ps3) diodes ie 1250 would you make a 10 watt laser or 10,000 to make a 80 watt beam? or 25000 to make 200 watt beam? correct me if i am wrong but isn't a 200 watt beam EXTREMELY powerful? but how powerful? can I use such a tank busting laser on a power point ?

this thread is to discuss the events leading up to and following the 9/11 attacks on the pentagon and the world trade center and the possibility that george w bush was somehow involved. for those who do not believe that there is a conspiracy here is the place to argue your points with those that do lets remember that the burden of proof is laid on the conspiracy theorists it is up to you to prove that there is a conspiracy not the people who disagree to prove that there is not

The human visual field is continuous, since we have binocular vision, so we see one integrated world, fading off gradually toward the periphery, with a few small scotomas within the visual field. But since a chameleon can rotate its eyes, which lie on opposite sides of its head, independently and with a large degree of freedom, what does it see and how does it integrate its experience into a coherent awareness of a single world, especially when the left eye is looking downwards and the right eye is looking upwards? Does it see two discontinuous worlds at the same time, which it somehow 'conceptually' manages to weave into a coherent world picture, even though it is not …

Density: Time dilation due to velocity = (the Lorentz-Fitzgerald equation) Let's look at density as it pertains to, let's say, a rug occupying an area inside a room, in order to see what percentage of the room the rug does NOT occupy. Density = sqrt (1 - area of rug / area of room) Assuming that the length and width are always equal: D = sqrt (1 - Length of Rug^2 / Length of Room^2) Of course, to get this to pertain to time dilation due to velocity, we can simply replace "Length" with measurements of spacetime - velocities. (Any object which occupies 'x' amount of space, also occupies 'x' amount of time - they are equal) So we can make th…

What are miracles? Do such things actually exist? Are they simply prenomena, the act of an alien benefactor, or a benevolent GOD? These questions are ones a person might get caught up in, in their need to reply. But is there a straight forward answer?

Hi all, I have some questions about the present big bang theory and why the universe is dark. I'm not a creationist, because I don't believe in god or in any deity of whatever kind, so I just need a few seconds of your time and simple answer to my questions. 1. We know that light has a speed, we know that light emits in all directions so here is my question: why isn't universe bright then? If we can see a galaxy, than it isn't emitting light in every direction or is it? 2. Perhaps there was no big bang at all, but we are on the other side of black hole, which formed 13,7 billion years ago from the stars it devoured? Maybe to you, my questions seem juvenile…

Hello, My friend Jerry has a theory, the Comedy-Recycling Theory of the Entire Known Universe. While he presents his theory with a sense of humor and his own sense of wit, he is completely serious about his ideas and has worked very hard to present his theory in many different ways. He has two versions of the theory in an online book, several videos and very prolific blog. I don't understand his theory myself, but I don't have much of a head for abstraction or advanced scientific thought. I help Jerry with his web site and have been friends with him for many years. I'd like to invite you to visit his web site at www.cr-theory.org and have a look. I'd…

KAIDUORKHON Actually Einstein was wrong He was wrong in just about everything, His wife however was generally correct and most of the theories you attribute to Einstein were her ideas not his. In an age where women were to be seen and not heard and were considered too inferior to offer anything to the scientific community well........Einstein became her means of communication. Please don't jump all over me you can gain your own insight into this with any internet connection and an hour. Since this is such a respected forum it is only appropriate credit is given where it is due and it is in fact to the female. Not to the fellow who struggled with basic mathematics.

Why do asians have grey hair? I've seen people in my workplace who are only 18-22 years old of Indian/Chinese origin having grey hair and I'm wondering why this is. Whenever I look at their hair I often seen these having little specks of grey hair. They mostly have black hair of course but they also have a minor amount of whitish/grey hair, just wondering if there are any scientific explanations for this? I thought people were supposed to have this colour of hair when they're older?

i know someone who says that someday a system of Pneumatic tubes ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumatic_tube ) will replace cars. this seems absolutely ridiculous to me. and i was wondering if someone could confirm how absolutely ridiculous it is and explain the many reasons why it is so ridiculous.
