Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

Hello, I'm no math expert, no physics expert, just a plain old joe that likes to think about stuff! I'll begin my first ever post regarding what I call GiGo Theory, which basically means "Gravity In, Gravity Out"... Before I get [possibly] torn apart about my views, I'd just like to mention this is what I "think", not what I can prove, I'm not a writer, nor do I work in the scientific community (I am a builder, bricks and mortar )... I respect peoples views, arguments and as such, if anyone can tell me why I'm wrong (In English), then, I'll listen! GiGo Theory GiGo (Gravity In, Gravity Out) GiGo is a theory (used lightly) that tries to explain why the un…

Watched a doco about the mystical 13 crystal skulls that were supposedly crafted by the Mayans or Atlatans or what ever......as in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls. The doco mentioned the findings of an apparently legitimate scientist who concluded that one of the supposedly genuine anciant crystal skulls had microscopic tool marks on it characteristic of a rotary diamond drill that looked nothing like the tool marks characteristic of stone tools. Of course the yank adventurer and the documentary ignored this finding......I am surprised they even put it in the doco. It just blows me away how easily so many people can so easily allow themselves t…

While I do believe the theory does support time travel there are some basic issues. Within the basics of any math, when an error is made in the beginning of the statement, the entire statement becomes void. Before anyone can prove or disprove the theory, 1st they must correct the basic Algebra that everyone know to be incorrect. Also see www.Timecorrections.com

The attached file illustrates how space is produced. Although this is a simplified version of my theory but it is also similar to other "mainstream" theories like LQG and GR. The lines represent energy of the point particles that it starts from. the two points in the right hand figure are concidered higher energy(say a mini blackhole) the lines shoot to the other 9 lower energy particles , a bunch near and a bunch far. the crossing of the lines red dots for the green lines and yellow for the blue lines. You can think of space as these crossings. notice the density and the distribution of the crossings , these are equivalent to space geometry. As a matter of fact you c…

Hi forums I wonder if anyone can help me with a story i'm writing. I'm no scientist but I like fiction to have a basis in real life, and theres an event in the story that i'm not quite sure of what the effect would be. Say that every year or every few years, an area of earth is scorched by some kind of superheated power- perhaps similar to when lightning strikes the ground, but much more powerful, a much larger area of effect, and lasting for much longer than a quick lightning strike- say a minute or two. What would happen to the area of earth, and what would happen to it over a long period of time? Also, what if the area was sand instead of earth? Would it b…

Time is not what you think, in my last week I have been posting on the naked scientist under artpiecemalpsso, on the topic of time and how the future and past are non existent as actual realm of time. As I envisioned the time realm of the past I envisioned that what the past was was nothing more then present moments played out with other present moments, a book that was writen one hundred years ago was in the present moment of existence, and every present moment of everyone who ever came in contact with it, how is it now that that book is right here in ever present moment and not back there in the past. The past is Ideas of the present moments it defines, how we saw what …

After reading much about it, I continue to be dumbfounded by the word "spacetime" and how it is used. As far as I can read, space and time are yoked together by physicists much as a team of oxen or horses. It's hard to believe that it can be described in such a fashion, since time is an entity, as is space, matter and our overall universe. Does anyone out there have a better description? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spacetime

  9. Hi, I've watched some documentaries and read a little bit about what people say is happening at the sub-atomic level, it bothers my that they use the word "contradictory" to refer to what they see, because I do not believe science has contradictions, so I wrote this piece, I hope you read it and I hope you enjoy it even if it is not 100% accurate, I would like some feedback. There is more I would like to say but I haven't properly formulated it into word or thought within my head, I'm still feeling it out. I have to take a break now and come back later, if you think its a good piece I'll try to continue it. - It is not contradictory for 2 physical objects, such as…

This has absolutely no evidence supporting it in my head. Aside from the simple fact that pretty much everything we are aware of in this universe, is, in some fashion, circular. Atoms, Cells, Planets, Solar Systems, Galaxies .... even dogs walk in circles before laying down. It just seems to be the most common pattern in the universe. Those that thought they'd fall off the edge of the earth found themselves right back where they started. My guess is the same will be the case with the universe. Maybe its infinite. Maybe a circle that has no end, is infinity. There's no up, and no down, and no end that can be found. Just a hunch. I'll let the …

As spacetime is only a potential within the mystery of a singularity, a potential that is only realised in an non-singularity state, speculation about what happens in the depths of a black hole must include the prospect of a reversionary state where the Higgs Field starts to disintegrate at around ten to the minus thirty-six seconds prior to the singularity. So the idea of a boundless mass devouring all in its gravitational wake must thereafter be impossible. If there is no gravitational force in this dual state of finality and genesis, where has the mass of energy disappeared to? Viewed as an analogy to fission/fusion the energy is accounted for in the big bang an…

I can see you all have a sense of humor. Ending a topic with a question then locking it. Darn thats like being in a round room and being told to sit in the corner And sense we are in the specualtion forum. We must move dark matter and dark energy over here. Because an opinion being popular is no proof of its reality. Also one doesnt have to want to be different to realize, being well adjusted to a profoundly sick society is no proof of health. thamks for all the insight. Are we here to learn something new or reinforce what we think we already know after reviewing back through related themes and paths I have been in, I have to know,,, How old are you kids?

wouldnt pulsars, being interpreted as a light house type of effect where the spotlight interpreted effect is a revolving beam of light be considered unprovable? Especially when the flash rate would cause the object to fly apart. But isnt that why they made of neutronian matter? A relaxation oscillator is provable. This example can be implemented with a capacitive or resistive-capacitive integrating circuit driven respectively by a constant current or voltage source, and a threshold device with hysteresis (neon lamp, thyratron, diac or unijunction transistor) connected in parallel to the capacitor. The capacitor is charged by the input source causing the voltage across t…

I've asked the question several times, but finding no solid answers other than innuendo, I keep searching. Even NASA wants $15. for a supposed qualified answer. And that's only a maybe! If I may, I'll ask it one more time of you guys. A spherical cylinder is vacuumed to -30” of mercury and taken into intergalactic space. There the vacuum on the container continues to be increased. At some point will the capsule collapse, (implode)? Honest injun now! No hypotheticals, just hard facts. I'll look at almost any link you offer, if I can find anything substantial. I just can't seem to find it on my own.

Could it be? That running parallel with physical evolution exists a spiritual evolution? A cosmic evolution so have it. For it has always been; humans seek answers. Answers to questions that someday all must answer. These questions, They are among the stars. And, they sit there. Sit there waiting, Waiting. They wait with the patience of eons. Forever waiting. And is it science that holds the key to unlock these answers? Or... Is science just another "religion." An evolved religion so to speak. A religion with a premise that all can be explained through quantum physics and other forms of mathematics. Will mathematics as we know it one day be scoffed at a…

I hypothesize that any truly advanced species would at some point attain the qualification of autotroph. This would be either as a consequence of evolution, or as a consequence of advancements in technologies that allow the individual species to modify its homeostasis. Given that, by definition, heterotrophic life is only sustainable when a source of autotrophic life is present, we can conclude an immediate necessity for autotrophic life. As observed here on earth, biological systems are poorly adapted. The inefficient transfer of energy through trophic levels further necessitates a larger population--or at minimal a population with a high turn over--of autotroph…

Question: I don't believe theuniverse is an illusion (or an accident, if you want to get religious). My Answer:The Universe that youclaim to be real is nothing but an illusion [The 'Illusionary Universe' and its'Contents' (The 'Diversion'). These are beingprojected by The Maya (The 'Illusionary Force' of The Residing Truth), a forceneeded to bring about the illusionary creation for the illusionary play. The above act istaking place in The 'Single Creation', within The 'Absolute Truth' to maintainthe singularity, so as to up hold His 'Omnipresent' status.
