Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

Was wondering if it is possible that instead of "strings" what if all matter is connected by "tubes" allowing the passage of matter between universes. If so there is the possibility that antimatter coming into contact with matter could have caused an annihilation which created the "Big Bang". True?

  2. How can someone "age" if they were traveling on a light photon? I have read and I am sure many are familiar with this question here, however if the speed of light is constant and flows in a "straight direction" or omni "massless" then where does this photon "turn" to register a cycle of earth time?? Example: An earth year = 365 days in a year because earth goes around the sun right? So my question may be "where" does the speed of light "cycle" "turn" "orbit that gives the age of someone traveling on a light photon?? Would this not violate E= mc squared? And if so does the squaring of the speed of light above have anything to do with time loops? Thi…

Now before I get tackled by every physicist in the community for dissing Einstein, let me explain: this is purely THEORY. Theoretical physics is what I specialize in and its simply a thought experiment. Sound travels faster when it is put through a medium of greater density, I.E, sound will travel faster when it is sent through water, and even faster when sent through solids such as steel and even rocks. From Wikipedia, "Speed of Sound" article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_of_sound "In common everyday speech, speed of sound refers to the speed of sound waves in air. However, the speed of sound varies from substance to substance. Sound travels faster in liqui…

  5. I think Einstein was wrong. At least, he wasn't completely correct. When Einstein imagined if he could ride on a beam of light, he questioned what he would see if he looked into a mirror held up to his face. He reasoned correctly that he wouldn't see anything because the light of his face could never reach the mirror to even have a chance to reflect back. He postulated that in fact he would still see his face as light and that light would still be measured to be the same speed. To compensate for this, he assumed that time itself slowed down. The problem? He assumed that the phenomena that he measured, namely light, would be the very same essence in any varying…

Black holes are my first candidate. Theyre probably so extremely solid that touching their surface would burn you so extremely, you couldn't even imagine the burn you would get because it's so solid. It might be like freezer burn. Thats how solid it is.

Is the quality of evidence discussed in science? The credibility of the scientists? Is care taken to ensure that the evidence actually follows the theory, and not just the idea of the theory? I specifically mean with respect to Newton's "Laws", the "Law" of conservation of energy, Relativity, and Quantum Mechanics.

just doing my research and would like to ask if anyone can give me a note on this subject pls thanks you as the part of consciousness has no any existing value apart form information.since everything contain information thats what its own structure.its observing itself as you and me and happen all internal. your actual position in time and space is illusionary since your position always the same within your frame of reference. you to be able to access any existing information while your frame of reference always the same it suggest to me the source of the information is the observer itself.that self reflection does not support any seperation in the observation in ot…

I had a thought back in high school. What if the reason no nukes were detonated after WW2 and why they all look like normal gas explosions was that nukes don't exist the way mainstream physics says? Could have involved pyrotechnics, normal explosives and camera tricks, also. What if maybe Bruce Cathie was right? Can metal really explode? Why only radioactive elements? Could radioactivity be something else? I've seen YouTube videos of plasma cutters "vaporizing" metal or cutting it. No nuclear explosion there. Would a small piece of metal or a small bomb even be able to produce the thick black and gray clouds it the videos? I say no! I could be mistaken, but how …

  11. Can Hydrostatic Equilibrium Explain Pi Radians??? In this article here titled: The shape of a planet in hydrostatic equilibrium http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2FBF02507222 It states the following: A new technique for computing gravitational equilibrium surfaces (considering gravitational and rotational potential) as a function of depth is presented here for a hydrostatic planet, i.e. a planet where rigidity is neglected. NOW, My reasoning behind Pi Radians is because it results in a perfect 1/2 of a circumference when used with a length that is not a multiple of 2 " from what I know." Hydrostatic Equilibrium also ref…

  13. Hello, how are you? Members, please assist me with the the following problems: 1. For performing gene splicing at home, i do acknowledge that need to have a restriction enzyme to cut apart my gene/DNA strand's base pairs/nucleotides such as: audonine, gaunine, cytocine, uracale and thymine, but can't i just use other types of equipment such as a pair of sissors? The sissors we use to cut papper? My biology teacher, back in high school stated that gene splicing can be performed by using sissors and applying heat on the gene we want to cut apart. Is that true? If yes, then why are we using restriction enzymes instead of the sissors we use at home? Why are we not u…

Two controversial observations. (A lay man confused in elementary physics knowledge) In this ugly sketch are two frames: first in movement with V velocity in X direction. , the second frame is in rest. In the moving frame are two electric charges with the same sign, and the observer (Kramer I). They don’t feel the movement. For the Kramer I-- the charges are not moving, He used Coulomb law and determine that charges which have the same sign create a force that repels each other. In the rest frame is another observer --- Kramer II. He observe a different phenomena: there are two electric charges, which have the same sign and are moving parallel in X direction with…

I've sometimes wondered what would happen if human beings were reptilian instead of primates. Then I looked into the hypothetical humanoid descendant of a particular dinosaur. But Troodon? Why did they pick that dinosaur in particular? How would it have been the best candidate to evolve into the hypothetical lizard man I mentioned?

  16. if photons experience no proper time, then from a photon's perspective, every event on their flight path = simultaneous at the same moment of time, and also co-occurring at the same place (= location of photon) so, from the photon's POV, every possible interaction, w/ space plasma, space dust, or some human HST; near or far, from its location of origination; are all perceived as simultaneous in space & time, a little like a "lifetime passing before one's eyes" sort of experience. so, the from the photon's POV, it emerges into existence; is immediately presented with a panoply of options for interaction, similar to a multi-slit experiment ("which door to take")…

Can the first law of motion be related to Gravity? (.. if mass is just a space's contraction, and that contraction is less evident the farther, is comprehensible why, when we have two bodies, they try to get closer. think in some ball in a pool. in there the pressure varies depending how deep it is. Pressure on down side of the ball is higher than on the up side. then the ball goes up. Something similar happen with gravity. out side of "the couple of bodies" space is softer than center side, then bodies goes in becouse they are high density space …

  21. "Simultaneous" seasons on earth rather they be winter or summer always have been regarded as having some type of significance rather this be by religion and or astronomical observation via the North Pole Star Polaris marking new eras ie " circles and cycles" on this planet for decades. Depending on what " region" ie location you live on earth, the observation is physically evident as either being winter or summer respectfully speaking. To add As per recorded history a year equaling a full orbital path of earth's motion around the sun coupled with the "Winter Solstice Alignments" significantly proves that earth as a whole "system" in itself all share a sing…

  22. Hi. I'm new here so this will be my first post. I'm Jamie from Alabama. I'm a proud Baptist and I'd like to point out a few inconsistencies I found in the theory of evolution. The first point I'd like to make is in relation to the age of the earth and how it ties in with "evolution". I'm a young earth creationist. I believe that God created the earth approximately 5,000-6,000 years ago, and there is a good reason for this belief. Atheist scientists will tell us that the earth is approximately 4.6 billion years old, but this is impossible. Please hear me out and let me explain before you scoff and abandon this thread. Atheist scientists believe that we evolved from…
