Speculations
Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.
The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:
- Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
- Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
- Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.
The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

Reposting without link to blog. So, I wrote hypothesis which consider our reality as emergent phenomenon of more fundamental entity. The hypothesis (hypothesis of emergent reality, ER-hypothesis) makes at least one prediction, so it can be experimentally verified. Goal of the ER-hypothesis is find way how General Relativity, quantum mechanics and Standard Model can be unified in scope of one theory, with one point of view. I think such way was found and goal of the hypothesis is achieved. Equation which unifies GR and QM was not found; otherwise I would name it as ToE. I know I can make mistakes. It’s actually my second ToE-type theory, but its first I decided it is wo…

Surface tension and uplift The bodies denominated as “floaters” below are cylindrical bodies standing in an upright position in a liquid whose density represents half the density of the liquid, unless otherwise stated (fig. I, II, III and IV have been attached). The basis of the following observation is the easily consolidable fact that a floater in an upright position in a liquid is additionally uplifted when reducing the surface tension of the liquid (see fig. I). This specifically means that a floater standing in an upright position in water is uplifted when adding surfactants (tensides), as shown in a real experiment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GQ2F99x5po …

suppose we have disk fixed to its edge a string in which a mass is hung, when the disk rotates the mass will start rotating as well in an opposite direction of the disk, if the disk rotates clockwise the hung mass will rotate counterclockwise and vice versa, i tried this by myself and anyone can try it by holding a string and rotating it around yourself the mass fixed to it will rotate in an opposite direction , if we suppose instead of the disk the earth itself rotates, that will lead in "every object hung in a string will rotate due to earth's rotation around its axis!!" this rotation will be slight and will disappear at the equator . when we rotate the disk the mas…

It appears we live in a Universe that ' Likes' these two states. Does this indicate some fundamental nature of the Universe? P.s. If we were to take a straight line going from PLUS INFINITY to MINUS INFINITY. And we were of sufficient dexterity or might so as to CURL either end so as to join .. CURL. ( PLUS INFINITY to MINUS INFINITY ) Would it make the most Ginormous Circle , the universe has ever, experienced.? Would this liberate the ultimate value of Pi ? also What happens if the reverse of this process is attempted ? Mike

To my own observation, every object has a main particle in the very center. Change the direction of that main particle magnetic pole and it will cause a chain reaction to the rest. That object will then push against the pole of the earth or gravity. I also think that this will only be temporary then the main particle pole will switch back creating the object to return to its original pole. Changing the pole of an object will have to be used by the opposite flow of electricity.

In 1947, George Gamow published a book called "One, Two, Three … Infinity". His book became available a short time after my father's discharge from the Army following WWII. My father had a strong interest in Science Fiction and sometimes bought books mentioned in the books he read. As the war had been ended via the nuclear bombs dropped on Japan and credited to Einstein's E=mc^2, he had an interest in understanding what it was all about. At any rate, he purchased Gamow's book. I don't think my father had much of an understanding of the presentation as he never talked about it. I was about nine years old when I first saw that book. At the time, I was interested in what t…

At the local playground on the "Merry go round" if you mounted a gun that would fire bullets radially outward and mounted a target to the whole system. Do you think the bullets will hit the target if the turntable was rotated rapidly? Kids stand back!

I have made a theory about Relativity. It goes like this: m1 * c ÷ m2 = A time space Paradox! (I lazily did this, so don't judge me...) So if for example, you throw a clock into a strong gravitational point, time will get slower. That is what Relativity states. But what if you throw an m1 at the speed of light through a gravitational point in space. Would time either go in the past or future? I don't know, but the clock that was thrown in at the speed of light will end up in the past or the future. m1 falls in at c …

@burger97979 I have a simiiar theory about the constant growth of a black hole due to the recombination of matter while it's pulled by it's gravity. wich means, when an object is being pulled into a black hole, it desintegrates at least to a atomic level to be recombined on the core of the black hole. that contributes to the increasing mass and consequently augmenting its gravitational pull. (sorry for the bad english, i'm not a native english speaker) i do believe that our universe is a system of black holes where they orbit themselfs like a infinite dance, and collisions can happen giving birth to new galaxies. I look at a black hole as a hard-drive, insid…

Needs a little bit of editing but just needed to get some thoughts on this if I'm not getting anywhere with this please tell me feel free to pick at it haha. One planet able to sustane life? No? Is singularity ever true? Never one thing a single thing is made of manny smaller things atoms then what makes up atoms? Smaller things then shouldn't those things be made up of smaller things so on and so fourth. The same idea should play out as we go bigger, as we go from all the atoms and things that make up those atoms in all of the universe or universes I should say. Let's say we start from the smallest thing possBle if (that's even possible) on earth then we bui…

If energy is a constant, it can not be created nor destroyed, would the mind/soul be only energy harnessed by the body. This energy that is harnessed would have a certain frequency while still in the body and a certain frequency when the body dies. If one could focus on this energy frequency, couldn't this prove that there is a chance that some form of if you will "life" after death exists?

The Big Crunch theory is pretty simple to explain... Well, irony at it's best! The Big Crunch is likely to happen because the universe consists of anti-matter and anti-energy. The Big Crunch is quiet literally a universal paperball... (If you know what I mean...) This happens if all anti-matter and anti-energy gives up and lets all of the gravity fall on each other. (If you know what I mean...) Basically, as I said, it becomes a very compressed, universal Paperball and that's the big bang once more... Normaly, quantum-physically this is the process of the universe, more of the circle of life in this case. It starts again and again and again... With absolutely no end. …

I was watching a documentary a few weeks ago about Dark Energy. It was saying that Dark Energy could be thought of as a 5th force, created at the time of the big bang, that is weaker than gravity. It is the force responsible for creating space. In the early universe, it was impeded by gravity, not stopped, but much reduced. Now, at the further reaches of the universe where matter is much less densely packed, gravity has a much weaker hold on matter, so much so, that dark energy is now stronger than gravity in those regions, and so is able to create more space at a greater rate than in the regions where gravity is still stronger than dark energy. It is not a "pushing"…

i decided to "speculate about an engine design i believe is functional and possibly being used on craft. the design is the medical caduceus coil.the indian vedas called it the mercury motor.i have no proof of them both being the same thing but when you add in the rumors of the military tr3b having a mercuryvplasma engine it starts to make sense. the idea is to have a iron tubing apparatus with liquid mercury inside. a hot plate is mounted on bottom.the mercury is boiled until it is plasma.the plasma goes to the top ball and ionizes the air.some of the plasma pours over into the coil winding and creates a magnetic solenoid.the solenoid then pulls the ionized air down an…

DIY INTERFEROMETER: Prove Einstein Wrong in 20 Minutes by Drew Paul What is light? Is it a particle or is it a wave? What an imprudent question! As we know, these are not mutually exclusive characteristics. "Particle" describes the composition of a substance and "wave" describes the motion of it. Right? But…, wait…, so…, that still doesn't answer the question… Is light a particle or a wave? Let's find out! Today, we're going to add a new piece of equipment to our laboratories and perform a mind boggling experiment with astronomical implications! First, we will be constructing an Interferometer, a useful piece of experimental optical equipment capable of …

My point here is very simple: What if relativity and all of its implications, were just the product of context? What if we shifted the very notions and axioms that physics rests upon. Why is time important? How is then and now different? What if we did consider distance in a different context? With a different deffinition? Making such claims as: there is no difference between point A and point B, even though A=/B, the difference might be just... how we think of it. Why is distance importat? Why is distance relevant? On what do we base any given proposition for its relevance? What is distance? (in a spatial sense) My point is not about trying to rebute relaitvi…

There is a simple solution for the Universe enigma. This solution is based on Darwinian approach. In the past it was believed that the life on Earth had started by some sort of a blast. Darwin showed us that this assumption is incorrect. Same concept should be applied to the evolvement of the Universe. As the variety of life had been evolved step by step, the Universe also had been evolved step by step without any need to create the whole mass of the universe in the first step. Darwin gave us a simple explanation for the evolvement of life from the first ameba, without giving us a full explanation how this first ameba had been created. This solution is based on the same …

After 15 years of following a chain of thought I was surprised to read in a post the other day an idea which seemed to gel with the concept of Earth formation that I had independently developed. I had contemplated that the Earth and Theia had formed at opposite sides of this torus of matter that orbited the protosun at the approximate radius of the Earth's current orbit. In my concept there were fewer planets than the hundreds of planets sometimes proposed, but within the torus there would be many (thousands) planetesimals. They would be formed but they do not need to jump from torus to torus for they are gravitationally bound within their own region. I thin…

The gravitational redshift is described in the literature in two ways: (1) the phenomenon is explained through the behaviour of atoms that emit radiation of lower frequency (or clocks that run more slowly) the deeper they are located in a potential well, while the frequency of the light (or photons) does not change with height. (2) the phenomenon is alternatively discussed in terms of an energy loss of a photon as it overcomes the gravitational attraction of the massive body. In this case, the frequency of the light (or photons) decreases with increasing height. Alternative (2) is rooted in Newtonian physics and it has often been repeated that it is inappro…

Well, I thought I would make a post to the Speculations category which I myself see as speculation. As I have mentioned elsewhere, I have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics awarded in 1971 by Vanderbilt University. I went into graduate study in physics because, from my experiences, it seemed that only mathematicians and physicists were the only authorities who made any serious effort to explain the basis of their assertions. Clearly mathematics was pure logic and had nothing to do with reality (the issue I wanted to understand). Physicists gave me answers which seemed well reasoned out. Whenever they could not explain some aspect of the accepted theory, they would say "well y…

Hi I want to talk about my theory, my theory is actually we will experience everything, we will be different persons we will taste everythink we will be killer and also a victim, we will experience all of bad and good things. think about big bang we were not exist, but something happend and now we are alive, we have consciousness lets think about end of the universe everything will be destroyed not matter how, there are a lot of theories but eventually same result, and now think after trillion years or more in someday another big bang and new universe and another end, after trillion of ends and starts eventually we will have consciousness again maybe as a animal or human a…

The science has an explanation for those galaxies which are located at almost 14 billion light years away from us. However, if one day we will discover a galaxy at 50 (or 500) Billion light years away (or at infinite distance) – is it going to set any change in our understanding about the age of the universe?
