  1. It doesn't matter who dispenses justice, if one has faith in justice. My point is, if being content/at peace is the goal, why does it matter what path you take to get there?
  2. I think the theistic element of some religion's was intended as a tool that in non-theistic religion's is replaced by something like karma. Peace in oneself and with world, unless you're lucky, is aided by the thought of retribution; imagine a world in which revenge, on evil-doers', is guaranteed but completely out our hand's; in such a world forgiveness is automatic and if we're lucky, that even extends to us. For me, being at peace with oneself is the one thing science doesn't address (if it does, it's very quiet about it) and religions only real concern. I'm neither a scientist or religious, but I do see the value of both and in the right context, whatever the religion/faith, I can't image a stronger combination.
  3. We've got two choice's, run away or learn how to live on a rock; the hard place lives and dies with us, the rock doesn't give a shit... 🖖
  4. Alms for an old ex leper...
  5. Did you ever play "Chinese whisper's"? How else do they become a religion or movement, how else do they know when to meet? Is that Jesus' fault? I very much doubt Mohammed wanted to inspire ISIS etc... You don't believe buddhist's were organised?
  6. Earth seems perfectly suited to life, we live here. 😉
  7. Imagine if they're trying to teach the children to be content (live in heaven now, because you can't when you're dead and hell is just your fear of living it); how easy is that to edit/corrupt/misunderstand it to say "If you want to live in heaven, do what I say". I imagine such a lesson/teacher's fame would spread far and wide, if there's any truth to it; then came science and proved all those stories wrong, without reading between the lines of all that corruption, and think critically about why so many of them seem to be trying to teach the same lesson... What is heaven if you're not content?
  8. When? I thought that you thought that, was funny... 😆
  9. Congratulations, that's officially an introduction... 😉 Welcome.
  10. Post a joke and we'll let you know...😐
  11. Don't worry about it, but if talking helps feel free... Just post in the right forum. 😉
  12. So you do believe in religion... 😇
  13. A great answer +1 I'd just add, it also corrupts one's abillity to be content; imagine only being happy when one is proven better than other's, in a field of 7 billion other's?
  14. Depends on what you believe this stuff is?
  15. Since you changed position every time it got close, it's more likely that you frightened it into changing direction...
  16. It's your word against mine and this is a science forum, so I don't have to prove myself right, but you do... Edit... cross posted.
  17. Well, I have dog's and I'm surrounded by deer infested meadow's, and in my experience of 1/2 hour walks with the dog's in the surrounding area and my, tick😣, vigilantes; they're always latched... 😉
  18. I'm pretty sure that if you remove a latched on tick, it's a dead tick. Did you, smoke some wicked weed or eat a red and white mushroom?
  19. Depends on the number's...
  20. May I suggest a better title, Pride and Prejudice... 😆
  21. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaise_Pascal And Hitler was hyped up on amphetamines. I know who I'd trust...
  22. What does that mean, for you? For me, it meant why not take the bet; not because there maybe a god who provides some sort of heaven, but because there maybe some truth in the teaching's of those who invoke a diety to instil a mind-set on those who can't imagine a heaven, now... Then we don't have to wait for death to collect on the wager.
