  2. You are welcome to stop digging... Imagine that.
  3. Why assume that? Then I fear, you may not understand.
  4. Then you're showing your bias, in much the same way as your allegation; surely that arrogance needs to be adjusted?
  5. That's a maxim held by insurance companies and the police, it negates any possibility of an accident, which is more of a philosophical stance. If automation can assist the driver then accident's will be reduced, especially if it's regularly updated. But in the real world, black ice, brake failure, momentary distraction etc. negates that maxim. We're a long way from fully automated car's, but even then it can only reduce the possibility/probability.
  6. It's the ghost of Tom Joad... Or, the man who sold the world...
  7. Then he really would be a martyr. Imagine the number's, if all those people were emigrant's?

Today I learned DT may not be a president...
  9. Only eight more year's, to be sure...
  10. It is broke, it always has been; at least since the stone age. 😉 The more people involved in the decision, the greater the chance that fear is the motivater...
  11. I didn't say you did; my point is something's in life have to be experienced before one understands. Being nice and fair to our fellow man shouldn't need a manual; but just incase one is needed, every culture has had a stab.
  12. Don't be fooled into thinking your way is the only way, age is no guarantee of wisdom...
  13. "Stand ye calm and resolute, Like a forest close and mute, With folded arms and looks which are Weapons of unvanquished war. And if then the tyrants dare, Let them ride among you there; Slash, and stab, and maim and hew; What they like, that let them do. With folded arms and steady eyes, And little fear, and less surprise, Look upon them as they slay, Till their rage has died away: Then they will return with shame, To the place from which they came, And the blood thus shed will speak In hot blushes on their cheek: Rise, like lions after slumber In unvanquishable number! Shake your chains to earth like dew Which in sleep had fallen on you: Ye are many—they are few!" - P B Shelley Or, "the meek shall inherit the earth" - Anon
  14. We're going to have to be a lot smarter than that.
  15. You're missing the point of your own thread, it's not about whether or not our shelter's can survive regional disasters, it's about our food security. There's no point in being warm and cosy in the face of a hurricane, blizzard or fire if one starves after the fact. Regional disaster's will have global effects, if the crops aren't protected.
  16. Who here knows what scrogging means? To me, my family and my childhood contemporary's, it's the word we used for "scrumping"
  17. Until we perfect smell-o-vision, I fear we'll never understand those alien's. We can't even understand our previous incarnation's, without a key (Rosetta stone) in the appendix and how many of our contempory author's include a key?
  18. But the point of a universal language is to comunicate. But since even frogs can have a regional accent, I think the chances are pretty doubtful. True communication is only really understood/possible among our regional contemporary's. The further we get from 0,0,0,0 the further we get from understanding/possibility. The best we can hope for is, we get the gist at any given distance.
