  1. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/20/us/politics/russia-putin-missile-test.html He's determined to win something, and if we can't prize his finger off the trigger we all lose. This seems to me, much more serious than the Cuban crisis, because he has nothing left to lose and doesn't care about the consequences.
  2. How else do we communicate meaning? Body language is just word's we don't know the sound of... If an ant kicks a rhino, is the rhino stupid because it doesn't feel or understand the ant's anger?
  3. But not if the subject is aware of it's consciousness... Gaia can be said to be conscious in much the same way as an anthill can be said to be intelligent...
  4. If a lion could speak English, there's nothing to suggest we would understand them, because understanding depends on mutual experiences to give context to the language. For instance, the rosetta stone allows us to understand the language, but we have no idea what the language would sound like. We understand our culture because we all live it, what test do you suggest? I've never seen star war's 🙂

He didn't mandate the none wearing of mask's, people are still free to protect themselves from COVID-19. In a complex situation where the balance of the scales of justice is uncertain and he's made on honest judgement, we can't use captain hindsight to proclaim his guilt, how would that be just?
  6. Indeed, if I metamorphose into you, that doesn't make us clever; it just means, we understand each other.
  7. "I am constantly trying to communicate something incommunicable, to explain something inexplicable, to tell about something I only feel in my bones and which can only be experienced in those bones." ~ Franz Kafka
  8. So, in order for a computer to think it has to be alive? What level of mimicry is life?
  9. No, he/they said "there will be another profit" IOW someone else will understand what's written; when the time is right, "cometh the hour, cometh the person".

No, I am saying that people punish themselves far more effectively than you could; room 101 A criminal that runs from justice, is never free of their crime; they spend their life looking backwards, never looking forward to life...
  11. I think you mean self awareness, which is an interesting question; for instance the mirror test is recognised as a measure of visual self-recognition. Dog's fail the test, but their primary sence is smell rather than vision, so they see the dog in the mirror but it doesn't smell like me (or a dog). How would we design a test to determine the consciousness of a bacteria/mouse/camel, if we can't walk a mile in their shoe's?

Only you know what you deserve, sure you can let your ego bully you; but restorative justice is a thing...

Is it just, when you don't get the revenge you deserve? I prefer to think justice is what they get by damaging themselves; so I don't need to spend my mental energy on them.
  14. Whatever it is, it's infectious, first Britain and look how close France are to suffering the same way...
  15. No one is claiming his genius, but he's no dummy either; his ability to think outside the decency box, indicates a sociopath; read East of Eden... That would depend on who wins...
  16. Indeed, using a poker analogy, he's short stacked and he's made a substantial raise pre-flop with a pair of 9's; it doesn't matter what the flop is, he's always going to commit everything; because he has nothing to lose, and if we win the hand he's always got his gun.
  17. The point Confucius is trying to make is, if we just hate instead of trying to understand; then we all lose...
  18. Indeed, But we've also seen his determination to win, something, at any cost... The needs of the many, is always a fine balance; the needs of the one is no corollary.
  19. I wonder what happens, when Putin starts to lose because of western supply of arm's; it's a fine balance of allowing Putin to win enough to avoid him going to war with NATO.
  20. That seems fair, I've made a proper fool of myself... But to never forgive our human foibles is kinda the point, it's not rational to dismiss an honest question or belief, even if you don't like it...
  21. PTSD suggests, if I do harm to other's I do harm to me; I choose to feed the happy wolf. But I don't have the value of two sheep...
  22. For every, negative, action there is a positive action; in life two negatives doesn't produce a positive; for instance, if I don't have two sheep and I take away two sheep, how do I suddenly have four sheep?
  23. My apologies @Genady I was a bit drunk yesterday. Because he's the one making the claim, faith doesn't require proof; the religious who claim science is wrong, then they need to provide evidence that he's wrong. I don't care what you believe, if it makes you happy; the scientific method is to provide a bias free way to investigate ourselves and our world, not a means to destroy subjective contentment in other's. What makes you doubt that karma is practically Newtonian? PTSD is well established and causes pain and suffering to those who have encountered a traumatic event; a normal person that kills someone, will sufer as a result. There's nothing supernatural about it.
