  1. "We all have a price for turning a blind eye" I thought it's relevance is obvious, we care about the future in terms of that price. The wealthy don't really have a concept of price, if societies bin men doesn't take away their shit they go private, it's just a higher cost; but at least it's not a tax.
  2. Would you put your deepest, darkest and most shameful secrets on Facebook? For fun perhaps, because you're drunk or likes etc. Now ask the same question, if it was illegal or if it would break the heart of a loved one. We all have a price for turning a blind eye; as pointed out by George Orwell in "1984".
  3. That's the question, not an answer. It's a much more profound question, that most people aren't willing too ask or answer.
  4. Sorry, but I don't think that will be an issue, because I've worked out a rout that's less (just) than 100mtrs. Do you think a switch is advisable at the terminus, or can I just plug in? Or this?
  5. How many choices do you think you have? Can you be who you are, or are you who you have to be?
  6. Not as many as you think you have...
  7. Well, you could sit on a bus like Rosa.
  8. Wow, you're quite the optimist... I'm an oldish man, so I'd be happy to swap my claim on a parachute for a bottle of whisky and a quiet seat to watch the in-flight film, until my oblivion; in the hope that (my) someone will avoid becoming tomorrow's bear shit.
  9. In this context, this argument is akin to a plane full of people arguing about how fast to hit the mountain they can't avoid, rather than finding a way to divi out the limited number of parachutes, in the fairest way; the question of fairly is the burden of democracy. The question of our freedom, fundamentally, can not come at the cost of freedom for others.
  10. What cat, what box???
  11. Thanks for the advice guy's +1's all round.
  12. More often than not, we are paralyzed because of our fear of it; in this case, we fear that any unilateral actions will make that guy more comfortable than us, or a future that is less comfortable than now, for us. Indeed, but it's also profoundly difficult to answer; our bias always gets in the way. A scientist can reduce, sometimes to zero, the effect of bias in themselves, but never in other's. The parable of the fisherman, explains the problem (for me at least).
  13. Thanks, but I was hoping for a lower price... 🙏
  14. And who decides the quality? It's always a question of number's...
  15. My goal is, a good enough internet connection, in my caravan; I suspect the answer is hardwired...
  16. Who doesn't feel better when validated? 🤔 I'm so proud of the number of "lil green one's" I got, and humbly suggest, it should be more...
  17. The problem: I'm moving to a caravan at the end of the 260m garden. I have a desktop, running windows 10 and not wifi capable. The house wifi can't reach the bottom of the garden. Can anyone suggest the most cost effective way to connect with the house internet connection, with the minimum effect on bandwidth.
  18. To paraphrase Greta 'how dare we procrastinate with our children's future'. While we can't predict our future, we can at least mediate potential harm; but we can only do that today, tomorrow is always too late. Sort of... Nothing ever really happens today, well, at least it seems like that; but whatever nothing that does happen, will build tomorrow.
  19. My duty of care is my lifetime first, which, at some point becomes their lifetime first, but that point can only be today; where-ever we find ourselves in Maslows pyramid's. How many year's = tomorrow?
  20. Why? What have you got to hide... 🤔
  21. He means, what do you want to talk about, specifically; IOW which part of your "paper" do you want to discuss? 😉
  22. How would you test for this affect, surely scales would experience the same effect. Edit cross posted with studiot.
  23. Where's me lil green one?
  24. I'm a rare case, a tramp with an internet connection; I've had a lot of time to think and sharpen my thoughts with other's... "How far beyond?" Is a question for other's...
  25. Because I can live today without affecting the climate and what I do today can effect, the other's; I can't know that it will, but I care that it might...
