Hey everyone! Me and my friends designed a small experiments. It's fun and it's not demanding at all. You'll just have to chat online to Joey. It's a chatbot and concerned with ordering pizza There's a small post-questionnaire but it's totally anonymous. If you have any question feel free to ask me. Here's the link: http://www.students.uni-marburg.de/~Sucherdt/pizza.html Thank you very much!

I'm by no definition an expert but also not a beginner in electronics. I'm currently working on an audio modulated ZVS that would let me create a fairly nice plasma speaker or at the very least be a nice tweeter for a speaker set up. Don't worry I'm not getting off topic, but stay with me here, so I already tried to tie a transformer to the center tap of the ZVS to inject my music. It worked, but it wasted wayyy too much power because the amplifier had to work too hard and the transformer I used always got uncomfortably hot. I looked for other ways to build an solid state interrupter (even one for a Tesla coil would work I believe) and researched ways mixers work and look…

Hey Ya'll I am new to the forum and was wondering if I could get some advice on biofilm development on stainless steel coupons. I want to test several different industrial sanitizers on relatively short time developed biofilms but am having trouble quantifying them apart from planktonic cells. What is a good way to rinse off planktonic cells carefully enough but enough to make certain my plate counts are based on cells that adhered to the surface?? Thanks for any sort of suggestions

  7. I have been doing experiments with solar thermal technology trying to get the most efficient system possible. I keep on getting crazy figures and I’m not sure if its my calculations, an oversight or if I am correct. I did the experiment with the superconductor Graphene, so it should be possible, but i'm not sure. So the experiment is a simple setup: (In video) I use a Fresnel lens that is 83 x 57 cm2, so the amount of sunlight is known. I heat the superconductor Graphene with the lens, the graphene in in a Pyrex beaker that has 800ml of water in it being mixed by a magnetic mixer, so the temperature readings are accurate and give an overall temperature rise over ti…

  9. This was just a little expirement that went on inside my head while I was on one of my walks. It seemed interesting at the time, so I'm going to share it with you. We have an x axis that represents all real numbers, and a y axis that represets all imaginary numbers, i^2=-1. The idea of a whole-nother number line sounds fascinating; and to some, literally unbelievable. However, dispite some people's disbelief, the imaginary number line and the complex plane is perfectly sound from a mathematical standpoint. If we managed to solve something impossible like -1^0.5, then maybe we can do the same with another impossible function like a/0. A person (I can't remember who…

  10. As a sort of experiment, I let my physics textbook slide down two railings. The first railing was a very rough surface, and the physics textbook would only slide about a quarter of the way down and then stop. I then took my physics book and slid it down another railing. This railing was a smooth surface, but about the same height, and it slid all the way down in I would estimate ~2.0 s. Now, I know this has to do with static frictional forces. What I’m curious about is why did this happen, in detail? Does it have to do with the structure of the surfaces at the molecular level?

Hello, I made a fluorescence beam in a glass prism with two lasers of different wavelength. Did anybody try this before? With a 532 nm laser I saw a red beam inside and using another of 405 nm I obtained a yellow ray. You can see this experiment in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uOtIWizpZw Thank you!

Hello, Some time ago, I was making alcohol(ethanol) by fermentation of sugar. it worked, then I decided to go further and convert this ethanol to acetic acid(the same thing than make vinegar, but with a clear alcoholic solution) after this, I made the fltration in order to get a clear solution. and I decided to make calcium acetate out of this, by mixing the solution I've got with eggshells(source of calcium carbonate), I waited all the reaction be completed(there's no more CO2 bubbles) and so I boiled the solution. and what I got is in the picture bellow: It's ok to do not be pure, but I was waiting the major part of this to be salt like. note: this thing …

  15. Hello peoples of the internet, I am dibinvaderzim. I had an idea about the radioactive boy scout thingy. See, the officials say that the reactor was unfinished and never fuctioned, but he was really close to creating an operational breeder reactor. He got a plethora of ionizing smoke detectors, then extracted the americium-241 then got aluminium and a lead block and mode a neutron gun. His project could have easily been completed by submerging parts of the reactor with the irradiated fuel in water, so when the fissle material came out of the process, it would boil the water , which would travel into a turbine, thus creating power. Correct? I am not to sure. Please corre…

  16. This is a video I made for my High School Chemistry class. The project was to make a video dealing with a type of chemical reaction, and I chose combustion reactions. I'm a filmmaker in my free time, so the video part was lots of fun, and I just wanted to share it and see what kind of feedback I can receive. I love science(but I'm not the best at it), but because I enjoy the subject, the project was that much more fun! Thanks for watching and sending me some feedback! -Trenton Hoshiko

  17. So, this is a VERY simple and well known experiment. So much so, that I dare call it the stupidest experiment you can do. I also apologize for sounding like an idiot myself. Takes one to know one I suppose. At least I'm smart enough to admit that I'm an idiot. The goal is very simple: Make yourself do ANYTHING, and enjoy it - even if you hate it. What's the theory behind it? Our brain does just about everything through the subconscious. Breathing, blinking, swallowing - we rarely think or notice these subtle actions are bodies do. What we fail to realize that in fact, most of what we do is automatic. Take typing for example. I think I'm actually cont…

  18. I have been considering what happens if I make the feedback from out put to input of a ADSL splitter, as well as change input to output and vice versa Below are my steps: Take the first splitter, plug the phone line to the Net output (NOT the input) of it Plug the input of the first splitter to the input of the second splitter Plug the Phone output of the second splitter to the phone output of the first one Plug the Net output of the second splitter to Modem, and connect to laptop The diagram can be found in my attached screenshot Here I made some abnormal things: Telephone signal transmits into the output, not the input of the splitter The output of secon…

As we know, the ADSL splitter box has 1 input and 2 outputs, one for phone signal line, and the other for internet signal line Plug the telecommunication line into the input. Then in the output lines, I make the exchange. I plug the phone line to the internet output, and the internet line to the phone output Then I dial the phone to call to a fax number Surprisingly, I heard the busy tone, instead of fax tone. Note: When I connect in normal way, plug the phone line to the phone output, and internet line to the internet output, this effect does not happen. That means I heard the fax tone as usual

  20. WARNING: This preparation involves boiling strong concentrated acids that would corrode flesh instantly if it lands on you and also causes terrible thermal and chemical burns. It should only be attempted while wearing a plastic apron, face shield, thick rubber gloves and labcoat while working in a fume cupboard and having a water shower source nearby and by skilled practitioners. The product when wet with attack many hydrolysable plastics such as polyesters and polyamides, as well as many metals. The use of polypropylene and glass is strongly advised. If you carry out this reaction, you do it at your own risk! Introduction: From my investigations into trying to decarbon…

Me again with my kitchen experiments. So, I'm going to show (again) how pouring salt on an ice cube makes it melt FASTER. I will have a control ice cube with nothing on it and another cube with something like sugar (to show it's not just the "powder"). I am trying to look for a substance that can do the opposite and actually increase the freezing point of water, hence keeping the ice from melting *longer*. Anyone knows of any such substance? What, in this case, is the opposite of salt? I'm trying to look it up online but so far with little success. I'll post it here if I find anything. IF there is such a substance (and .. there must be!) I sure hope it can…
