Seen any good sculptures made from almonds lately? Note: no other nut-based sculptures may be discussed under threat of the ban-hammer!

This is London Olympics are a big fiasco. Earlier olympics perhaps were much stricter, the london olympics seems lenient in rules and gameplay. The results seem 'instant' rather than testing endurance, the games are of skills and performances. The arena seems too small than usual. Like many games seem totally childish. Before i write about my own personal visions i would like to point out many flaws in this years london olympics. A) The 100meter seems is just 75 meter in actual length so many athletes are just casual jogging rather than putting real effort. B) In shot put event the weight is half than what is showcased, i.e. 4 kg in womens category is infact just 1.7kg…

Suppose you became dictator of the world and could decide what children in state-funded education (up to the age of 17 or 18) learn. You can teach whatever you want. What curriculum would you choose?

Just found out today that my company, that I have worked for for 24 years, is closing my facility in two months. "A tough business decision". Where is the loyality, the dedication, the intrinsic value? How does one transition from a team member, who has taken a thousand punches for his company, taken responsibility for a thousand problems, solved a thousand problems, sweated and worried and fretted over meeting deadlines, doing a good job and doing the right thing for his workmates, bosses, department, customers and company, for 24 years, to being a duplicate "skillset"? Me thinks they know not what they do. I will not mention the company. It's still my co…

A good acquaintence and I were golf partners at Ford for a few years. He was from India, also Sikh and a gentleman. He didn't drink, smoke or swear, I swear! A good honest hard working electrician who came to the job each day with a turbin wound around his head and his beard in a hair net. I partnered with him for about 4 years and never once was expected to do more than my share. I even went with him to his Temple once, explaining that I wanted to compare the difference between his religion and western theology. Oh yes! I've been in several churches of different denominations on occasion for the same reason. My question is, how can one person hate another person without …

On occasion we have a dream and wonder what it was about? Then, when we are actually lucky enough to see one, the temptation is to ask why?

No matter from which side of the plate you swing, or even if you are in the ball park at all, give this some thought.

"Bats are able to navigate in the dark because they rely on sound, not sight, to determine where they are and avoid flying into things. The same approach is at the heart of a charity called World Access for the Blind." Link to Article -- National Post

Cost is not really an issue (to an extent). The only requirements are that it is as strong and thin as possible whilst remaining *slightly* flexible. I know very little about this so any help is appreciated

I'm a bio major (pre-med) and my grades are really terrible. I have a .89 gpa for my major and a 2.22 overall. I admit, i have been fooling around and partying, but at times when I did cut down on the tom-foolery and decided to take work serious, i noticed that I was overwhelmed / struggled. my math and science skills aren't that strong so that explains the struggles. I'm also wondering if I'm in the correct major for me. yes, i do like the sciences and I'm interested, but w/ my poor skills, i'm really struggling and my grades aren't good for med school. to help narrow things down: - i like to work w/ my hands (build, fix things, etc., thus I was considering surgery…

It's all in the pick up lines. Spot the disciplines: "You look extremely reproductive tonight, my dear!" "Do you like the drink I made you? Wanna see what it made my lab rats do?" "If I kiss you, you have to kiss me back. It's a Law."

I don't know how old this Bob Newhart is, but it is pure comedy Gold. "Look Willard I'm taking just as big a chance as you are. I mean it's my responsibility. If that thing goes off, it's me they're going to want to talk to not you, you know." Does anybody else have some favourites?
