Hey everyone, I haven't been posting lately and right now I have some alone time sitting in front of my computer (which I absolutely love to do) so I figured, why not? I'm just going to post. Today I went to the nature trails at our state park here in Michigan and let me tell you, it was very beautiful. I love walking these trails. It might actually be my favorite thing to do in this area. Well, after that, I decided that I wanted to sit down and meet one of my best friends moms for the first time. This woman, she is awesome, honestly, after a few years of getting to know her son and thinking that she was like satan, it turns out that she is actually a very, very smar…

I'm going through a period of change right now and it's not easy for me. I've been crying uncontrollably for days now and im not sure if I will be able to participate in these forums any longer. Me and my parents are having a rough time and people are being blamed for things as is they should be held responsible. I don't believe in the freedom of will, but I do believe that crying helps make room for change so hopefully I will soon have the capacity to secure a fulfilling, independent, desirable, and satisfying lifestyle.

In the movie iron man 3, they should the effects of the extremis virus. What I want to know is if that were real(I know it may never exist), what science/ engineering discipline(s) would be involved in its making? Also, in the upcoming movie Elysium, you see an exoskeleton on the protagonist and antagonist. Same question as the above: What science/engineering discipline would be involved in its creation if it ever existed? Finally, I was watching a science fiction show which involved creating genetically modified humans and placing bionic chips in them giving them powers like Super strength and speed, as well as laser vision. Now, I know this one might never exist i…

Asking the opposite would be more 'normal' ; that thread already exists... The brain size has an upper limit, so, In your opinion which animal is the most stupid of all ? Downward in scale, the tiniest brain should fall into insects and perhaps microorganisms, and opinions on the most stupid creatures can fall in a grey area, but, Do you have of a notable choice ?

How often do you visit your parents ? How often do you cook for them and chat with them ? How much do you care about them ? Do you care about your own kids/wife/husband more than your parents ? It becomes very common the adult children ignore their parents. They seldom visit them, even dont contact them for a long time(don't bother to call.). It is so hurtful ..... Why people never ask themselves why we need to have kid ? what have we done to our parents ? we cant deny we once hurt them and made them worry about us and even cried for us. I think ignoring parents is a big tragedy and not tolerable ! how to avoid such tragedy to happen ?

I know we haven't seen all the way to the end of the universe (if it even has an end, who knows?), but do you think maybe we, the human race, are the first civilization of sentient beings in the galaxy?

We all experience many different events during our lives, many are common that most us can relate to, but we are also all unique people with our stories to tell of interesting and unique events. Which of these special events or moments really stand out in your memory and perhaps make you think that these were the best unusual things you've ever done?

I just encountered a problem with one of the settings in my science fiction concept. Mars is supposed to have one been a forest world until 10 millennial ago when it was ravaged by civil war. But Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. How could it have been a forest/jungle planet when it was further from the sun than Earth? That kind of plant and tree life would need a lot of heat to sustain it, wouldn't it?

Well, here is the common question(or so I think) about the American education system and whether it is doing the right thing. Let me expand the question, however. I am normally the rebellious(lack of term) person who with mathematical courses in schools I fail at(or get below average) the class and I always feel like I am a failure at math and I will never be able to understand it no matter how they seem to teach it in the classroom, yet on my free time I do math and I always find interesting things within mathematical concepts such as number theory and the relationships between different types of numbers, such as primes, and I enjoy taking a look into set theory and …

I apologize for my thread, Irrelevant: Why God Cannot Exist (logical proof) to everyone who thought I was mocking or in any way demeaning, it was not my intent. In fact, I read the thread, Why God Cannot Exist (logical proof), with admiration of the participants who made logical and rational arguments. My comments, except for the joke about the virtual brawl, were serious; although, were in poor taste according to ydoaPs, who locked the thread. Opening the Irrelevant thread was a mistake for two reasons. First, my writing skills are meager, compounded by my being insensitive due autistic spectrum syndrome. Second, was abused from the age of three by ignorant decisions…

My church and family taught that God was supreme, omnipotent, omniscient, and supernatural. Thus, logic is irrelevant, one must believe. BTW is a damn good virtual bar brawl. John Wayne would be proud.

It's more technology than just internet, but whatever http://dashes.com/anil/2013/07/rules-of-internet.html A couple that I thought especially apply here at SFN: The only way to get useful feedback from people on the Internet is to ask questions that are actually answerable, instead of open-ended. There are quite a few examples of people answering open-ended questions and then getting mad that nobody could clairvoyantly discern what the answerable question was. If your website's full of [a-holes], it's your fault. Which is a reason for having moderators.

So I was sitting on the toilet and thinking about life, and my mind wandered to areas where fresh water is a luxury and how we here in the west literally take a dump into it. Why do we use fresh water to flush our toilets and use in our sewer systems? Why not use salt water from the ocean? How expensive could it be to pump it in from the ocean instead of using water treatment plants and recycle fresh water through tons of filtration systems? I know this would not be practical for many areas in the center of larger continents... but many many massive cities lie along or near the coast. With modern plastic polymers surely we could use materials resistant to salt wate…
