Anyone here who is into it? I am not doing it personally but in middle school I used to be a huge fan of the Bear Grylls TV show as well as the one of Les Stroud which is now available on YT:

hi, I need a free latex editor. In previous times, I was using TeX maker but these days it seems it is not possible to use this one. (Windovs security prevents some settings or the editor itself does not work as same as it needed/predicted.) Could someone help me please which editors are available? (and tutorial for construction)

  4. Is it common to see the phrase "on the last month", "on the last week" or "on the last year" in spoken or written English? I believe that "last month" or "last week" alone is absolutely correct. For example, I saw him last month. This suggests a point of time. I also know that "over the last/past few months" should be correct, it suggests a period of time. What would it mean if it's correct to say "on the last month"? I first started learning English 30 years ago, when I was a kid. In fact, I never saw such phrases before.

  5. Hello all. We are looking to provide a free resource for researchers to support them in their knowledge mobilisation. This form will help us understand the most effective format for the resource, along with understanding some of the main pain points they face. If you would be able to answer the three questions that would be great, it should take no more than 5 minutes. link-shortened url deleted

I recently bought an Apple Watch Series 9, and thought it might be interesting to share some of the issues I have encountered so far. My main motive in purchasing a smart watch was to carry out enhanced health & activity monitoring, and to keep track of medication schedules and medical appointments. Why pick an Apple Watch - rather than a Google Pixel Watch 2, Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 or a Garmin Vivomove Trend ? Well, all my other devices happen to be Apple (iMac, iPad, iPhone) and are already linked up to each other via iCloud. If you happen to be an Android or Samsung phone user, or if you are training for the Olympics - then you would probably make different c…

Does anyone else have these? I have just got myself a new "companion" in my right hand vision who twists around like a falling leaf or one of those arty mobiles. I also have "floaters" that come every 6 months and only last for 10-20 minutes perhaps. This new visual defect (the Weiss ring) seems here to stay. It goes away when I concentrate my vision or thoughts on one thing but reappears as soon as I relax. I am learning from the internet that the brain will likely filter it out in a few months although there are some people with lots of floaters who find that their life has deteriorated a lot ( eg no reading , telly or going in the…

I have a video where there is about 20 seconds of conversation in English that I don't understand. I really want to know what they say. I can read English without much problem but my listening ability is very bad. English isn't my first language. You just listen to it and type out the exact wording for me in text. That's all I need, then I can understand. You don't need to explain it to me or make any subtitles files for me. I am NOT a youtuber or clip worker, I can do something for you as a return. You don't need to download the video. I have a link. Please send me a private message here if you can help, and let me know what I can do for you as a return. Thanks…

What is usually the difference between cheap wig and expensive wig for male? I have male pattern hair loss in an advanced stage and I have been wearing hat for years and now I am tired of it and wants to try a hair wig. I can see that the prices could range from $20 to somehow $200 or even higher. No offline shop nearby and I can only buy online, so I cannot touch and see the quality. Any experience on this issue?

Greetings. Please move to the appropriate section, as chemistry, biology, nutrition... as deserved. I do not know where. What is in the peanut butter product that survives very long time -perhaps years- with no refrigeration, and does not degrade, gets moldy or rots ? The label of the product does not reveal any preservatives, and I believe it is true. Is there other legume/nuts/something paste/product that also exhibits such longevity ?

  12. What could miss when transferring data from one phone of any model to another? I have a phone which was released and bought in 2018 and it is failing. I'd like to buy a new Android phone and transfer all possible data to the new phone. But, what kinds of data and information that will possibly miss when doing so? What is the best way to copy/transfer/clone everything from one Android phone to another while preserving as much data as possible, no matter if the data is considered meaningless or useless, e.g. phone call records, length of calls, sms message, etc by the way, could there be any loss of information when transferring from one phone to an…

  13. I am interested in a budget phone sold for about $100, but my friend strongly advised me not to get it. I do not play any mobile game at all. I do not watch any youtube video at all. I do not even listen to music with my phone. Mostly I will send some text message on whatsapp, taking a few pictures or videos, but browsing the web for information (e.g. using chrome or other preinstalled browsers) are what I will do so often. Sometimes I will also use Google map in order to look for nearby places. Is a cheap budget phone good enough for my purpose? Will it make a huge difference if I get a more expensive phone? (When I don't play games and I only browse …

Hello I am new to the forum I thought that this would be my best chance to find out what this might be. I found this 1.5ml microcentrifuge tube under the couch cushions in my home. I asked the other members of my family if it was there's or if they knew what it was and nobody had an answer. These photos are the best I could take and the only other information I could share is it looks like a used cigarette filter breaking down or some type of cotton fiber maybe and I also carefully opened it to see if there was an odor and it smelt like isopropyl alcohol. I originally thought maybe a illicit substance at first because I do have teenage children and there friends do visit …

  15. Hi. It is happening now, and would like to know if the host/conductor would be capable to compete with the kids... But, first I must disclose I have never gone to school in U.S. or any other English speaking country and learned English as third language at an academy. So, guilty. What brings me to post is the mystery when the host tells several pronunciations of the subject word. WHAT is the host reading to give different ways to pronounce the word in question ? Is the host reading this senseless <censored> I think is called phonemes ; a few of them to tell the kid the ways it can be pronounced ? And sad to see how the words selection is…

  18. Which ones do you like and why? Personally I like Carl Sagan the most obviously. From modern ones I like Brian Cox (he's apparently more popular in the UK now than Carl Sagan ever was even in the US) and Neil deGrasse Tyson. I have mixed feelings about Michio Kaku - he started out genuine but jumped on the "will say anything for the money and fame" bandwagon a long time ago.

In this video an octopus appears to lead a woman to a small cashe' of human artifacts including a photo of a human. Is it a reasonable conclusion that the octopus realized the possible value of a picture of a human or somehow thought a human would be interested in a picture of a human or even that the octopus connected the artifacts with the human due to the picture? If this is accurate it raises some real questions about just how intelligent an octopus really is. The video is 01:34 long, in my experience I've seen octopus do some unbelievable things but I never was able to decide if it was my own perspective that decided the octopus was acting as an intelligent agent or …

  22. Will probably post questions in this thread in relation to a science fiction novel I want to get to writing more. While it is science fiction I would like to get input from the community about how an effective technology I want the antagonist to have might work on some grounds in line with what we actually know about physics, science and engineering etc So my first question; How would a technogically advanced race render all human projectile weapons beyond bows, nuclear weapons etc inert and unusable? So far all I've got is computer viruses, EMP and nanobot swarms. But is there some kind of process gunpowder could undergo to be denatured enough to be useless, f…
