  1. What could miss when transferring data from one phone of any model to another? I have a phone which was released and bought in 2018 and it is failing. I'd like to buy a new Android phone and transfer all possible data to the new phone. But, what kinds of data and information that will possibly miss when doing so? What is the best way to copy/transfer/clone everything from one Android phone to another while preserving as much data as possible, no matter if the data is considered meaningless or useless, e.g. phone call records, length of calls, sms message, etc by the way, could there be any loss of information when transferring from one phone to an…

  2. I am interested in a budget phone sold for about $100, but my friend strongly advised me not to get it. I do not play any mobile game at all. I do not watch any youtube video at all. I do not even listen to music with my phone. Mostly I will send some text message on whatsapp, taking a few pictures or videos, but browsing the web for information (e.g. using chrome or other preinstalled browsers) are what I will do so often. Sometimes I will also use Google map in order to look for nearby places. Is a cheap budget phone good enough for my purpose? Will it make a huge difference if I get a more expensive phone? (When I don't play games and I only browse …

Hello I am new to the forum I thought that this would be my best chance to find out what this might be. I found this 1.5ml microcentrifuge tube under the couch cushions in my home. I asked the other members of my family if it was there's or if they knew what it was and nobody had an answer. These photos are the best I could take and the only other information I could share is it looks like a used cigarette filter breaking down or some type of cotton fiber maybe and I also carefully opened it to see if there was an odor and it smelt like isopropyl alcohol. I originally thought maybe a illicit substance at first because I do have teenage children and there friends do visit …

  4. Hi. It is happening now, and would like to know if the host/conductor would be capable to compete with the kids... But, first I must disclose I have never gone to school in U.S. or any other English speaking country and learned English as third language at an academy. So, guilty. What brings me to post is the mystery when the host tells several pronunciations of the subject word. WHAT is the host reading to give different ways to pronounce the word in question ? Is the host reading this senseless <censored> I think is called phonemes ; a few of them to tell the kid the ways it can be pronounced ? And sad to see how the words selection is…

  7. Which ones do you like and why? Personally I like Carl Sagan the most obviously. From modern ones I like Brian Cox (he's apparently more popular in the UK now than Carl Sagan ever was even in the US) and Neil deGrasse Tyson. I have mixed feelings about Michio Kaku - he started out genuine but jumped on the "will say anything for the money and fame" bandwagon a long time ago.

In this video an octopus appears to lead a woman to a small cashe' of human artifacts including a photo of a human. Is it a reasonable conclusion that the octopus realized the possible value of a picture of a human or somehow thought a human would be interested in a picture of a human or even that the octopus connected the artifacts with the human due to the picture? If this is accurate it raises some real questions about just how intelligent an octopus really is. The video is 01:34 long, in my experience I've seen octopus do some unbelievable things but I never was able to decide if it was my own perspective that decided the octopus was acting as an intelligent agent or …

  11. Will probably post questions in this thread in relation to a science fiction novel I want to get to writing more. While it is science fiction I would like to get input from the community about how an effective technology I want the antagonist to have might work on some grounds in line with what we actually know about physics, science and engineering etc So my first question; How would a technogically advanced race render all human projectile weapons beyond bows, nuclear weapons etc inert and unusable? So far all I've got is computer viruses, EMP and nanobot swarms. But is there some kind of process gunpowder could undergo to be denatured enough to be useless, f…

  15. I'm watching s12e1 of Curb Your Enthusiasm and there's a moment where Larry says to Leon, have you noticed that when you take a picture you don't look nearly as good as you do when you look in the mirror? Because the mirror is how you look to yourself and the photo is how others see you. This is exactly what I've also noticed and hearing LD say that on the show made me realize that this is apparently a universal phenomenon? Have you noticed this as well? I've always been struck by how much more attractive I look to myself in the mirror vs. how I appear in pictures, especially if the picture was taken by someone else and my feeling has always been the one Larry e…

For some reason what appears to be a world wide prank of some sort is being reported on. A monolith was found in Utah and now what are though tto be copies have been found around the world from eastern europe to columbia 4 or five have been found. If it's a prank it must be rather expensive to place stainless steel monoliths around the globe. Anyone have any ideas or new reports? My fave take!

  19. "Daylight saving time was first introduced in the United States in 1918 under the Standard Time Act as a measure to save on fuel costs during the First World War by adding an extra hour of sunlight to the day.... "In 2005, Congress amended the Uniform Time Act to expand daylight saving time to the period in effect today: Starting on the second Sunday of March and ending on the first Sunday of November, according to the Congressional Research Service. This move was again for energy saving purposes. "A Department of Energy study following the amendment’s implementation found the extra four weeks of daylight saving time saved around 0.5% in total electricity daily in t…

  20. First part here: Now for the second part, since it's allegedly "non-interesting." I do find it "interesting" how Sam is going to a foundry now, complete with a Government wig who's tagging along: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/events/ifs-direct-connect.html Now think about this for half a minute. He's not even building anything ground up- There's been zero indications of that. Every indication he's given so far points to "ready made" sources (see above post), either buying hardware outright (the GPU kits he tweeted about) or going to a foundry to procure silicon. It would be doubly puzzling/"interesting" why that he's asking $7 TRILL…

Ants are extremely strong for their size. Apparently ants can lift over 1000 times their body weight. As such, Im wondering how ants would be on planets with really high gravity, much higher gravity on earth. They would probably do just fine I would think.

  23. For a long time, I'd like to get a smartphone with a large screen but I haven't yet got one because there are some trade-offs, e.g. weight and convenience. If I don't watch videos or play mobile games, I just use my phone to read ebook and information on the web (mainly text and pictures), will it feel a lot better by using a bigger screen? What's your opinion?
