Seen any good sculptures made from almonds lately? Note: no other nut-based sculptures may be discussed under threat of the ban-hammer!

if you haven't gathered from all my other posts, i'm a firm believer in the government's ability to oversee certain programs, and its potential for doing more with others. with that in mind, i would like to focus this this thread on abortion. i searched and didn't find any other threads on it. similar to other threads in these forums, this topic has the potential to stimulate thought and debate so i'll start it off. with my belief that the government should oversee all aspects of the medical industry, i believe abortions should fall within this realm. i believe that abortions should be legalized. of course with certain restrictions and enforcements. 1. we've all…

I just felt like I would tell you guys what I did over the summer. Over the summer I got bored and decided to build a distillery, because I was genuinely interested in the subject. I figured that the field I will be going into deals a lot with fermentation, and chemistry, I thought this would be a great learning experience, and believe me it was. Before we actually built the still, we needed to make some base alcohol. At first we used regular old baker's yeast we found at Winn Dixie, I read in a book the yeast needed all kinds of things to help them grow and produce alcohol such as folic acid, free nitrogen, and vitamins, We had no idea how much of which we ne…

Watching this documentary really showed me how f'ed up the world is, and what a fucked up species we are. We are so selfish, to bring such horrible violence upon each other and forget all about how it affects everyone. Children were obviously the focus, and I'm not one of those people that screams "what about the children" everytime something bad happens, but it's true. They are the ones that have to live in these countries where war and murder are a part of everyday life and they're just kids. It was so fuckin sad. Mostly it just made me sad to see the horrors we're capable of. They showed the Hutu's murdering the Tutsi's in Rwanda and it was just - horrifying, that…

Is there any real reason to leave pseudoscience open? No one actively posts in there...(no one wants to be labeled psuedoscientist aside from zarkov). I'm thinking we should just shut it down..

It always seems that around 1900 GMT all y'all Englishmen disappear for a while. Where do y'all go? Dinner/Supper? Or is it off to the local for a pint? I lived in Merry Ol' England for two years and I must say....(dramatic pause)....I wish I was there right now! I love it! I lived on RAF Chicksands and in St. Neots. Frequented Bedford and Cambridge quite often. I hope to make it back someday soon for a visit. If ever again I am single I may try to move there.

I want to see any and all websites you created, helped create, or are for organizations you are a part of or contribute to in some way. Post the URLs and what affiliation you have with them. Please, no commercial sites or business sites. University studies and projects would be ideal.

Girlfriends come and go, thats no mystery. Sometimes you're compatible sometimes you're not. Is it possible that one time in your life you meet someone that you really connect with immediately? This chick started talking to me while I was waiting for the T after work, and it was really easy to talk to her. Well, she mostly did all the talking. She was pretty too. Too bad im too much of a loser to ask her for a way to get in touch with her again. I really get critical of myself when something like this happens, and I think constantly about the reason she had for talking to me in the first place. Anyways, I'm regretting not saying anything before we parted ways. I won't ev…

Just wanted to vent my feelings - no need to respond. I have been travelling a 150 mile round trip daily this week to get going on a side-line project which hopefully will get funding for me to continue in my present line of research. My boss thinks I should be "pushy" with the people in lab I'm visiting but I think that they are doing us the favour and being too pushy could be counter-productive. They are the experts in this technique and I'm being allowed to visit and do some work. Granted, my boss claims that they agreed to help out etc. ages ago but they really have no obligation to do so and I think I have to go at their pace. I basically got carpeted by my boss (who…

what are your thoughts on. i'm working on a paper that outlines my thoughts on it. my thought is this: i go to a restaurant and order a meal. i expect to pay for the food but when i recieve the check, i notice an additional charge that is not something that i had agreed to pay. normally this charge is added to account for the tip one would normally leave. why am i being charge this fee? i come to a restaurant to pay for the food and not for the company of a waiter or waitress. traditionally in the US a tip is left for waiters when they provide good service to the customer and attend to their needs. if this is the case, then why am i not tipping my mechanic when he fix…

I've just seen pictures on the TV of thousands of people crouding up the New York streets after a power cut. Whats going on? Why are they all wandering around? The BBC has just got correspondents taking pictures and filling in air time. Not very helpful.
