I'm in the making of a science website called Solving Science (I have it in my signiture) and I need your help with it. If you are willing to work for this website as a hobby, I will appreciate it if you can send me news articles, pictures, etc. The website also has a forum (thats working right now) that I would like some moderators for. Please PM me with what you can do to help if you would like to do so. Thank you for all of your help. P.S. I will post a little bit about the website after I publish just in case you would like to explore it.

I was just wondering why nothing from the speculation boards is ever displayed on the Home Page's recent posts listing. I use the Home Page to quickly catch up on the most recent updates to the boards, but I've just realised that it dosn't give a true picture of which threads have been most recently contributed to...

I have been fascinated with this particular tale for years. Sounds like some funky quantum mechanics to me. What are your thoughts on this? *Text taken from Weird U.S. by Mark Moran and Mark Sceurman.

Hello my friends. A buddy of mine has a theory about a certain controversial device effects on the human body. This device purportedly uses VLF radio waves to destroy pathogens. I do not share his opinion about it, and am looking for some hard scientific fact to disprove it. The first step. I would like to find out what EM wave frequencies are required to penetrate certain parts of the body and what power output is required to do so. For instance, the skin, the blood vessels, muscle, fat, or bone. I realize that EM waves with the shortest wave length (highest frequency) penetrate the body best, but my interest lies in VLF frequencies in the range of 1Hz to 10KHz. …

http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?chanID=sa003&articleID=000EA775-7465-13CD-B46583414B7F0000 I've made a resolution to laugh more. It puts us in a better mood and apparently is good for us too. I've also adopted the motto "Ignorance is Bliss" to help with depressing situations.

There's this guy I know named Prince. He's this pompous, elitist jackass who constantly finds the time to annoy me. He has everything. Money, my ex girlfriend, etc.. It's the second thing that really pisses me off. He recently gets my old girlfriend and starts rubbing it in my face. I have no clue as to why she'd go out with him, he's quite a chauvinistic arse. I'm trying to resist the urge to leave a 3 inch deep footprint on his face. Any suggestions as to how I can bring him down verbally?

Although this may be considered prying, it does not stiffle my curiosity. But, I was wondering, what do you all do for a living? Nothing too specific, I know how important everyones privacy is nowadays, especially with the rampant wire-tapping. With all the intelligent people in this forum, I can assume that most people are relatively successful in their own respects. I suppose as a show of good faith; I, being only 17, work at the subway in the next town over, but I will be quitting there as soon as I graduate and will be working for a wiring company through my cisco class. I'll be wiring the new wing of the high school and completely re-wiring the elementary, t…

I know we still have hair and such from people like Mozart and Beethoven and I am sure many other brilliant minds (like Einstein’s maybe)? Is anyone making an attempt to save their DNA so that in the future analysis could be done to see if there was something different about in the genetic code in order to see what made them tick? I know it might sound stupid, but I think once genetic engineering comes around, it might be important… no?

There may be a thread like this somewhere, but. Who do you know personally that you admire the most? Describe this person. Why do you admire him/her? Do you try to emulate that person? Discuss. For me, the person I know personally that I admire above anyone else is (was) one of my college professors. He taught a few programming and database courses. A few things about him: - he's 56 years old - probably the smartest person I know - very hardworking - is passionate about the work he does - does bicyle racing - very physically fit To me, he is the personification of success. He has a wife whom he loves and is a successful father. But what in…

On this day, 20 years ago NASA launched the space shuttle Challenger. Just 73 seconds after liftoff the vehicle exploded. All seven astronauts; Commander Frances R. Scobee, Pilot Michael J. Smith, Mission Specialist Judith A. Resnik, Mission Specialist Ellison S. Onizuka, Mission Specialist Ronald E. McNair, Payload Specialist Gregory B. Jarvis, and the first ever teacher to go into space S. Christa Corrigan McAuliffe, were killed. To learn more click here.

Which would be better to track the movement of objects moveing over them. Radio sensors or infrared. Emitters on the floor and a sensor moveing across the room. Like a ball with a sensor in it. Infrared, I have read, can not pass through windows and walls because of its wave length. Does that mean it could not penitrate the material of the ball? Any insight on how radio sensors work and infrared emitters and sensors as well.

Richard Dawkins is truly an amazing human being. Sometimes people can mistake his passion for arrogance, but I wholeheartedly disagree. Root of all evil resembles an adventure through fairyland; Magic water that cures people, Flying Goddesses, Communication with supernatural beings etc. In fact, if I did not read the title of the film, I would have called it Richard Dawkins in Wonderland. In all honestly the program presented no strong argument against religion (the sort we are used to with Dawkins). There were no deep analogies as we saw in the Blind Watchmaker. There was no need for that. The religious representatives interviewed by Dawkins did not know the b…
