Speculations
Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.
The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:
- Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
- Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
- Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.
The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

surely someone has suggested that there may be a universe cycle. Why can't the big bang have been the result of say a super massive blackhole, which eventually sucked in all the matter in the universe and then collapsed in on itself. So once everything had been consumed by the super massive black hole, it itself was the only thing left so it consumed or folded in on itself. Then just as everything in the universe was compressed into a tiny dense pea sized ball at the bottom of the once black hole, the laws of physics broke down resulting in the massive explosion (the big bang) to restart the universe cycle once again. I just think cause there are so man…

28 Oct. 2011 Here is my exposition on "Time Travel" and the "Multiple Universe" theory. When I first heard of theorists talking about this I was kind of disgusted. I thought maybe some of them were taking one too many nips from the ole' sauce, but now I am even more impressed with their vision and genius to be able to extrapolate this. But as I examined my mathematics, I suddenly realized what they were seeing. I constantly check my work with the experimental fact and what current theories are predicting to gauge the correspondence of my own mathematics. a: They are talking about time travel to not this world, but to a parallel world. b: …

For a lifetime now (over 40 years) I have been looking to resolve the connection between the physics of the current atomic model and the physics of the all powerful cosmic forces that move all the atoms everywhere within the cosmos. As you can imagine it is quite a massive undertaking. What helped me was I discovered many errors in today's atomic physics models which are still being used today and continue to block our progress in our understanding of how the atom and the cosmic universe interacts. If you are interested in hearing more on this subject please give your best answers to all or any of the following questions: 1. Do orbits exist? 2. Does the cosm…

Mankind Wondered … 'How long did it take that pebbled beach to look like that sandy beach? Science put a time-span to the erosion process and the conclusion was … aeons. They quote' nature took 'A Thousand Million Years' to turn solid rock into boulders' boulders into pebbles' and pebbles into all the sand in the world. This geological time-span was used as a baseline for dating everything from evolution to the laws of physics, and the time-span is wrong, clearly wrong because Beach Pebbles' get 'Bigger' not smaller. Beach pebbles are formed by the process of 'Tidemark' … a tidal layering process. It's the same process as a wash basin when a thin layer of gr…

Fusion and fission are the two basic processes on which the universe operates. Fusion for example is an addition and multiplication of Numbers Space and Light, whereas fission is the exact opposite, i,e. it is a subtraction and division of the same three quantities. Whatever the effect one side produces, the exact opposite the other side produces. Fusion for example produces coldness and darkness-invisibility, whereas fission produces heat and light. Both actions produce energy, where one acts in the form of contraction (fusion) while the other acts in the form of expansion (fission). Since all matter is made of three levels of Numbers Space and Light (particles), where …

YES!! I'm BACK!! I was out for a while, dealing mostly with personal and work related chaos, but now I'm back, and as usual, I have weird questions I've seen a TV program yesterday in Discovery Science about the possibile connection between paranormal sightings and electromagnetic radiation. The program showed various scientists that claimed that most "haunted" houses were in real close proximity of electrical wires and other objects that emitted high rates of electromagnetic radiation, something that they claimed affected the brain and cuased those sights. What I was seriously wondering about, is your opinion: Do you think the electromagnetic radiation affected…

Hi i am new to this forum but have an idea i want to explore, and will appreciate feedback. My idea is that the only way i can visualize creating something from nothing is mathematically.that plus one minus one = zero (+1-1=0).Following this logic to create space from nothing you must create anti-space,my idea stems from this principal. Mass and energy are interchangeable so we only need to create energy and anti-energy because we can use the energy to create mass. I will use an analogy to explain my point,my analogy is an escalator where the steps appear from underground you borrow those steps till you get to end of escalator you get of and the steps disappea…

This 'speculation' attempts to give a possible answer to the inconsistency between the pre-2011 experiments on the speed of Neutrinos and the latest OPERA experiments that show Neutrino's travelling faster than light. The pre-2011 experiments show the speed of Neutrinos at around c from the MINOS detectors in 2007 and around c from the Supernova 1987A. This speculation attempts to answer how these results hold and also the the OPERA experiment which shows faster than light speed. My theory is that the neutrinos tend towards the speed of light even though their initial speed is 'boosted' by the energy that created the neutrino. I.e. With larger energy and short…

Just watching this doco: http://topdocumentar...age-apocalypse/ Was thinking that, assuming this really did occur, that it could be the source of the biblical adam and eve creation myth and other similar myths. It could be a highly distorted and symbolised account of real events that have been passed down through thousands of generations, where stoneage survivors did indeed find a realtively unaffected region that allowed them to survive.

Hi, I had a look at the Bell Island boom incident and I think it is very interesting and there are a lot of different theories. Personally, I think it was a solar flare which radiated plasma energy, causing electronic disruption, electrocuting animals, blasting holes in the ground, a huge BOOM, and an unexplained ball of light. I would really like to hear some of your theories and views on my theory (I know it's extremely vague but I'm don't know very much about solar flares and plasma energy.) Here are some links: http://en.wikipedia....iki/Bell_Island http://www.stopdirec...reeservers.com/ http://en.wikipedia....iki/Bell_Island http://www.rumormill....cg…

I want to preface my response with "I could be and most likely am, bat sh!t crazy." Alright I'm going to try to describe an analagous mechanism for this system. Imagine a rubber sheet that is negatively charged. You also have some balls that are negatively charged. If you throw the balls on the sheet, the balls will be repelled. But on the way up, some mysterious force, let's call it gravity, forces these balls to act against their nature and forces them together until some point in time the inherent nature of these balls forces them apart again propelling the balls against the rubber sheet. The balls are then repelled by the sheet and driven up again, gravity takes over,…

http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap991129.html The photo of this nasa apod page shows what I believe is a ball of water being formed and shot into space by the pulse from the red star. We know these balls of water exist in space, some as moons of Jupiter and Saturn. Several years ago in a science magazine I saw an electron scanning microscope photograph of rock layers being formed in water, the layers formed around a specific molecule which had been dropped into the water. I wish I could remember which magazine, which molecule, etc., but I can't, but the photo, except for scale, exactly resembled layers of shale or sedimentary rock I have seen on shores of the Great Lake…

Many scientists and physicist believe that everything came from nothing. I'd like to propose a view of nothing came from everything. The true statement may help determine what the universe is expanding into. If nothing existed before the universe than it seems intuitive that the universe is expanding into that nothing. If, everything existed before the universe then we are expanding into a realm of infinitly expanding possibilities. If we look around the universe we should be able to find evidence and physical representations, of everything and nothing. In Math we have a zero. It is the mathmatical representation of nothing, but relative to the equation it is som…

Hi: I want to eliminate the following body parts because they are a nuisance to me: 1. Digestive system [including, the mouth, lips, teeth, gums, tongue, rectum, anus, and jaw BUT excluding the liver because the liver is absolutely essential for survival and cannot be replaced with artificial devices] 2. Urinary system 3. Entire integumentary system and its appendages [such as skin, hair, and nails] 4. Reproductive system 5. Gallbladder 6. Olfactory system [including nose] 7. Outer ears [including wax-producing cells] 8. Middle ears 9. Breasts 10. Any epithelium not necessary for survival, given the state of today’s technology 11. Limbs [such as toes] and m…

There are currently 4 known dimensions. The three spatial dimensions and time. I was wondering about the possibility of more than one dimension of time, just as there are more than one dimension of space. I'd be interested in hearing what the members of this forum have to say about this thought. You can speculate about extra dimensions of time yourself if you want.

The way I always saw light, was that it is a wave that excites particles in what ever medium it is traveling through. The frequency of light is was what determined the distance it would travel or the influence it has on the excitement of the particles in that medium. Light being a particle and a wave. I figured that light was just a wave, the particle side of it, was actually particles being manipulated in the medium by that wave. Due to like particles liking each other so much, that was how gravity effected light. Because gravity effects particles in the light traveling medium the wave distortion was therefore due to the excited particles moving under the force of a give…

HI: I am new to the group and would like to introduce myself. I have a PhD in Chemistry from Purdue in 1965. I conducted industrial research for fifteen years, retired and studied Metaphysics, such areas as Astrology, Numerology, Alchemy, I Ching, Cabala, and Tarot. For the past 30 years, I have been struggling with a book harmonizing the two disciplines and now finally have something I hope would be understandable and interesting. I ask for comments on the subject matter. Numbers, Magic, Chemistry Introduction For those old enough, do you remember the sixties and the Volkswagon van with the hippy colors and the question authority bumper sticker?…
