This is a purely imaginative question while I am reading Hawking's books. I am wondering about the whole light being a wave and particle at the same time and string theory; is light like a string through space-time so that in one point of view, light is a particle (cross-section of a string) but light is also a wave (like waves produced on a string)? Our responce to music is different than if we were to hear a random assortment of noise but why? I don't know the answer and can only speculate as to why we respond to music the way we do. Could it be because sound travels in a wave, so when the wave has a pattern and is symmetrical we recognize differently than a random wave?
