Speculations
Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.
The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:
- Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
- Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
- Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.
The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

Very interesting question. At my knowledge there is no clear answer. Some speculate that gravity relates to electricity but the concept has been debunked many times. My own quest is focused on the "square law". Why are we obliged to use the square of the distance in both laws? The answer is: in order to make results coincide with observation. So "the-distance-that-we-observe" is only the square root of "the-measure-that-we-have-to-use-in-the-equation". And with an outstanding, an incredible, an unbelievable characteristic: the unit of the observed distance is squared. So, the "square law" does not say that you multiply a distance by itself and …

Something new, or maybe Something old. I wrote something about the importance of the Observer in "Light, Spacetime, Observer(s)" topic in observing our "Observable Universe". This is another take at this. I read about Special Relativity for instance and there the Observer is just a point of view, for taking measurements. So, the Observer is reduced to basic trigonometry without studding the nature of the Observer (as it may be important). From Special Relativity to General Relativity to Quantum mechanics this shifts a little, but in circle. Anyway, I won't talk about the exactly the same thing, here I will talk a little about the nature of the Observer from …

http://www.realitysandwich.com/does_telepathy_conflict_science Reading this article about how if it was any other phenomenon ESP would've been confirmed scientific fact by 1950. It seems the only reason it gets rejected is in the words of one scientist "it doesn't make sense". Afterall how could it work if there's no physical connection. No one bothered to stop and think but microbes pass between people everyday. And studies show the importance of the gut to how people think. Scientists are calling the gut where most microbes hang out as being the second brain. And there are more non-human cells in our bodies than there are human DNA cells. It's not a…

I published my thoughts , send them to few smart people, forums etc... but....some twisted answers and reactions ...very very strange to me ...everyone is pretending to be the smartes one ,but no one want to understand and listen ....everywhere i tried they banned me calling me crackpot ...so ill try here . ............... To understand quantum world we need to be like Copernicus ... we need first to stop world of MASS(material objects)where we live in ..then put on motion quantum particles ... Idea of ..why quantum world is completly unpredictable is because there are DIFFERENCES IN TIME ...different clocks for quantum mechanics ...other for matter and mass ... and …

Last studies says that decisions are taked before we realize. them Does it mean that they ar only the result of physical laws? So scientists, led by neuroscientist John-Dylan Haynes, located with precision concrete signs of brain activity up to 10 seconds before participants were aware of their own choice. According to what Haynes said to the magazine NewSientist , this study has shown that "our decisions are predetermined unconsciously a long time before our own conscience the launch." As early as 1983, the American neuroscientist Benjamin Libet proposed that "decisions taken by any subject are first carried out in the unconscious and subsequently transferred to t…

Dear all, I have done a successful experiment for perpetual motion but the cost is high because it is slow and use big magnets. I need ideas about how to get any benefit from it because it cannot be used to produce electricity since it is costly. Thanks Frz maw

I was reading this thread: http://lunaticoutpost.com/Topic-Alexander-the-Great-Greek-or-SouthSlav?page=1 And I thought. Did Alexander the Great really even exist at all? So I made this thread just for that. Did Alexander the great exist? How about Christopher Columbus also? Well Christopher Columbus probably existed I think, but Alexander the Great? I think they found Greek knives in Nepal.

Krash661 -do you know what happens when antimatter comes in the vicinity of matter ? i have to say obviously not. antimatter is unstable ----No! I don’t exactly know what happen when antimatter comes in the vicinity of matter, and I think nobody know for sure, …. except what results afterward. Let see this way: an electron and an antimatter electron (positron) comes in vicinity. How much near each other and what happens there -- in that moment, nobody know for sure.. Afterward the result is : Both “Annihilated”!?, and instead of them two gamma photons appears moving with C velocity in opposite directions. Einstein state that photons are particles and this is proved: they…

I read once that the drift of electrons in conductive material is very slow, some meter per sec. Instead if you close the switch of 300 km power line the flow of energy is quite instantly (sure having in view C). I too wanted to ask if somebody can explain this controversy. ———— Mod note: post and two responses split from http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/77664-electrons-electrons-in-electricity/

I found this on Google Earth in Egypt, but what is it? 22°47'51.75"N 31°32'39.42"E I at first thought it was a construction project, but I don't see any bulldozers or small foreman offices. And I don't think sand dunes look like this.

I'm not an expert on relativity, General relativity, Special relativity or any other kind. From what I know the Light (or any other object) can't travel faster than the speed of light c=300.000 km/s (aprox or exact in psychical equations?). My reasoning started from the question " Why light can't travel faster than c?" Or any other object. This doesn't constitute a paradox? Because stating that an object can't travel faster than c in this Universe means that something limits it's speed. (like a rock in water-rough analogy). Another way that I know this is expressed is that theoretically an object could travel faster than c but is nothing that can accelerate …

I didn't see a history category, so I decided to post this here. How much evidence is there that the Ancient Egyptians built the pyramids? I think there was a cartouche written, but I heard someone say this may have been faked. Did the Ancient Egyptians record the pyramids' building anywhere?

Hello everyone. I fugured speculation was the right place for this. I want to talk about the nature of existence. My principal argument will be that our universe is a self contained entity/ structure. Hawking proposed a closed system universe; a globe-like model that has a north and a south pole representing the big bang/ crunch. I was inspired to think about such a universe that did not rely on a creator nor on having any amount of parallel universes in order for it to exist. I will start by addressing the nature of time and space. For time to exist as a dimension there must be the movement of space. Interestingly, Einstein said that time will move at dif…

I know that most scientists think that matter and anti matter will be affected by gravity the same, there are some that are holding out for anti matter to have anti gravity effects when it comes close to matter. If ( I KNOW HUGE WORD) but if this turns out to be true wouldn't this mean that anti gravity and matter would be attracted to each other twice as much as any two chunks of either would be attracted? In positive and negative charges they are usually attracted to each other but wouldn't that mean that positive and negative gravity would attract each other?

Has anyone even ever proven that electricity is "moving" "electrons" in or around wires? And "electrons" being the main carriers? I don't think they have! Has no one at all has pulled out their microscope to view "moving electrons" in electric wires? I heard about experiments like the Crookes tube, but that doesn't prove anything about "electrons".

Controversial: A huge discrepancy between drift of electrons and velocity of energy in power lines. When a power line is connected (switched) with a source of energy (voltage) the energy flows quasi instantaneously. Instead, electrons inside the metallic ropes of the power line, move with very low velocity (drift). Some say that carriers of energy are electrons, which indeed are inside the metallic rope of power lines. Others say that carriers of energy are photons outside and around the metallic rope. I think that physics debate of this controversy must be very interesting.

Well, I don't know about that, every source I read, online, and offline calorie counts on nutrition labels, says that I should need over 2000 calories, I weigh like 185 pounds, so it's not like I live efficiently, and that's the sedentary count. I'm not sedentary. And almost all days, I only eat between 500 and 1400 calories. Recently these past two weeks, it's been about 700 calories a day.

SPHERICAL TRAJECTORIES =====A CONTROVERSIAL HINT ABOUT STRUCTURE OF COMMON ELEMENTARY PARTICLES. I have drawn two models of spherical trajectories in MATLAB. The footprint of those trajectories gives the impression of a stationary globe, like a set-shell drawn by two quasi point sub-particles interacting between the two move in spherical spirals. In the first figure the movement is up Z axis and down, that is one harmonic movement—one hz. In the second figure the harmonic movement is one horizontal cycle—one hz. For a particle like an electron, which must have fe = 1.23559006*10^20 hz the presence of one sub-particle in whatever point of surface is quite instantaneous, e…

How can math prove anything? It is an extension of the mind. It can't say what reality does without doubt. It just says what other people have seen, probably only a few cases. As far as I know, it is not made up of rigorous study of every detail, it is just blanket statements.
