When a thread gets "moved." Is it at all possible to say where it's moved to? Like, instead of a thread saying "Moved:" Could it say "Moved to ________:" Or making the link still take you to the thread, wherever it gets moved to? Or is there a way to do this that I haven't found.

For about a week I've been waiting for these forums to get fixed, but maybe nobody else has this problem? It worked before I went to camp (3 weeks ago I think) with the same browser, same OS, same everything. Anyway, this is waht happens. Threads sometiems load completely, but the rest of the site (indexes) only load so far. They stop at the immages on the left. If I wait long enough, I see text, Go to first new post You have 1 post(s) in this thread, last 06-17-2005 Poll But there aren't any actual images. It just says "Transferring data from pagead2.googlesyndication.com..." Even right now, in post new thread, the smilies at the right aren't loading. N…

Is it possible to have some notification that someone is on your buddy list? For example, It would be nice if the box that contains the persons "name" where join date, location, and number of posts are, if there could be another symbol to denote that this person is on your buddy list. I don't know if this can be done or has any benefit. Right now, I have a typed list next to me of people who I consider my buddy. Bettina

perhaps we should implement something similar for this site. could be added to swansont's thread(although people don't seem to read it). and any "theory" that doesn't conform to said standards gets deleted on site? i was thinking that such "theorys" should be in psuedoscience until they are proved worthy of not being there.

Philosophy and Religion do not come under the same umbrella. They should be able to each have their own areas on the board. Sharing the same space confuses the two seperate subjects. Any one second this? Should they get their own area. Does it matter? Eon.

I was just wondering whether the powers that be thought "Biochemistry/Molecular Biology" would be a more appropriate name for the " Biochemistry/Genetic Engineering" forum?

If I put it any plainer, ... stuff would happen. Ahem, anyway, I think those buttons have to go. I could design some if you like. Only take a few days. You know, the ones for reply, edit etc. They just don't fit. Everything else is peachy, but the buttons are an eyesore. [edit] They just aren't as hard edge as the rest of the site. The buttons themselves are fine alone, but don't fit with the decore.

Hi, as a suggestion, I think the images used in the SFN layout should use JPEG or GIF, because PNG takes longer to load than JPEG + GIF => takes more bandwidth. Also, the SFN logo on the top left, you guys should slice it properly as there are useless bits of the background in the whole image (http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/images/sfn/sfn-logo.png) that you could cut off to save bandwidth. Hope this helps!!

I get the following message a lot when trying to reply to a message using the quote function. The only way I can remedy this is to make my reply short, send it, then edit it to add more, send it again, edit, add more, send it, etc etc, until I finally get it all sent. The look of this site has changed and I've noticed that the ads at the top cover up the SFN logo as well as a few other problems. Are these problems due to my having a 800 x 600 screen resolution or something else?

<SFN logo isn't scientific?> I just read on my textbook that you can't draw an atom like that with some circles in that shape. That kind of picture is very common to represent an atom but it does mislead readers, because ELECTRONS AREN'T MOVING AROUND IN CIRCLES.

It would be really helpful to have a highly moderated resource section on SFN... perhaps something along the lines of the News forum. It would be nice to have internet resources listed in categories... or even post resources as stickies in each forum. Perhaps an open sticky, to which all members can contribute, but with the first post containing the cream of the crop links. Resouces could include studies, lists of papers, information sites like PBS, sites asking for public contribution like SETI@H, University and R&D research teams like fermilab and science news websites. It would be nice to have a comprehensive list of resources from people in the kno…

Hope I haven't opened up a can of worms here but I did not see any suggestions for an image uploader, so I thought I would make one. I know that there are online places where one can archive upto 10MB of images for posting on the IN but how about an uploader for ones PC docs. and settings? It would be nice to have so to futher define a subject and highlight certain points. Being an amateur Microscopist, Protozoologist and Stream Biologist, among other interests, it would be a help but then again how many like minded individuals are in the membership of this site to make it worthwhile?
