Is there a resource other than Wikipedia where they have a layman-level introduction to articles on nuclear resonance and resonance in particle physics?

For we know the interaction parameter of a certain liquid mixture, is it possible for us to know the temperature at the critical point? Besides, if we know the temperature at the critical point, can the volume fraction of the coexisting composition and that on the spinodal line at 273K be found? I have found some links on the question mentioned, it is related to the field of statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, soft matter, etc.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_point_(thermodynamics https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinodal

I mean : Do we know all the properties of matter? Is it too early to state the properties of matter? Are all the laws of thermodynamics applicable to the Universe?

Hi guys ! I wanted to ask you a bit about Nuclear Radiation Electrolysis. Imagine the chinese Three Gorges Dam with 22.500 MW output, marry it to multiple Nuclear Electrolysis Reactors (Aqueous Homogeneous Reactor Wikipedia) and supposing that Uranyl Sulfate is in a Distillated Water solution, inside a corrosion free system. Postulate that all colateral problems are solved by BRILLIANT scholars, can you tell me how much oxygen & hydrogen would be produce by Electricity & Fission ??? If we forget about the obscure staff and just convert energy into gas, theoricly, like, on the paper !!!

Hi everybody, I'm struggling to understand how 1H NMR works. I think it might be best to explain what I do know and maybe somebody can fill in the gaps for me and/or correct me? The external magnetic field aligns the magnetic moments (spin) so that they are parallel/antiparallel (in a low energy state) to the magnetic field. A radio frequency is pulsed (400 MHz in this case) and the nuclear magnetic spins flip (putting them in a high energy state). So with the pulse, the spins are put through a process of relaxation & realignment, whilst doing this the nuclei emit a weak radio wave KHz which I can measure, but how exactly does this describe the molecular struct…

I made a thread about this topic on http://www.physicsforums.com/ and some people on there called me a troll, my thread was locked as a result, and then when I tried making another thread, I wasn't able to because someone was messing with my ability to post (probably a mod). When I tried going back I got called a "crackpot" and it said that the ban will "never" be lifted. I spent like an hour making replies to people who posted on my thread and I never got a chance to post them. Anyway, I really needed to vent about that. Now, I'm here for the same reasons I had on there and that is, well, to get different perspectives and maybe even a reality check (as was implie…

From what I understood, our theories (relativity and quantum) enable us to trace our history up to Planck's limit. Beyond (before) that point, our cosmology remains a mystery until the Fundamental interactions are unified in a single formalism (because the space-time decribed by relativity and quantum physics are incompatible). But our equations after Plancks limit are only verified up to a certain energy level of particles (with the LHC and other accelerators). My question is, where in time (or in energy level) does this point lie ? And is the cosmological background (the point where photons becomes free about 380'000 years after Planck's limit) before or…

I heard the increase rate of expansion of the universe began 3 Billion years ago. I think the hunt for a single particle as the cause will prove to be fruitless. Until scientists unravel the mysteries of quantum Vacuum Fluctuations and Virtual Particles and Annihilation's I don't see any answers to Dark energy. There is so much going on in space-time and so far its pretty much a mystery. I am exploring the possibility that Cosmic rays may be accelerating the expansion...My thinking is expansion is everywhere..cosmic rays are everywhere. An extreme-energy cosmic ray (EECR) is an UHECR possess energy exceeding 5×1019 eV about 8 joules. That's a lot of energy. Where these c…

I hope it's alright to ask this here. I'm asking about existing theories, so I don't think it counts as speculation (though I could be wrong), also, this is kind of long. I was going to ask this on quora, but I'm way past the character limit, and I might get better answers here anyway. I'm trying to understand how four (or more) dimensions could exist (without math, btw). The fourth dimension is often described is such a way, that I understand it to be an impossible vector. From what I do understand, dimensions are traversable, spatial vectors. A point is non dimensional. A line (x) is one dimensional. Two lines (x, y) intersecting at a right angle is two dime…

Just wandering if anyone has identified any if not all the 11 dimensions and if the following has been thought of or makes any sense. Height Width Depth Time Supertime Magnetism " electricity" Counter space or dielectric Matter Anti matter Space Hyperspace And could that not only be the start, the Vedas describe 64 dimensions with a bunch of sub dimensions

I'm a fish outta water on this site, I can grasp maybe 25% of what's being said so please be gentle. I signed up to to this site because I read an article about quarks and how its impossible to isolate a quark what happens instead is that energy is amassed till two new quarks are created. It's the creation that fascinates me. I don't understand this to me its like creating something from nothing. Can someone explain to me how energy creates new quarks please. thank you for humoring me with what is possibly an irrational question.

Hey guys. I'm clearly no physicist, but I do have a question on the subject I thought maybe someone here could help me out with. So I understand that different combinations of particles, -particularly neutrons-, are essentially the equation that adds up to certain elements. My question being, so let's say you have an atom of Iron, with 77 neutrons. Would each neutron particle within the iron atom identify as being iron? Or is a neutron particle simply a neutron particle regardless of the resulting atom? And I apologize ahead of time if this makes no sense or is a stupid question.

If thee is a source of light ,is it reasonable to see this as an expanding sphere centred around the source ? Does this scenario still apply if there is only one proton emitted ? If so , can I see this as that there is an equal chance of this photon being detected at any point on this expanding sphere? As there is only one photon involved, does its detection at one place preclude its detection at another? So ,for example if there is an object** close to the source ,and there is only one photon it will be impossible to detect the photon anywhere else (in a different direction) which is further away? **assuming that this object absorbs or "detects…

A Debate Over the Physics of Time https://www.quantamagazine.org/20160719-time-and-cosmology/ " Many physicists argue that Einstein’s position is implied by the two pillars of modern physics: Einstein’s masterpiece, the general theory of relativity, and the Standard Model of particle physics. The laws that underlie these theories are time-symmetric — that is, the physics they describe is the same, regardless of whether the variable called “time” increases or decreases. Moreover, they say nothing at all about the point we call “now” — a special moment (or so it appears) for us, but seemingly undefined when we talk about the universe at large. The resulting time…

It can't be detected but we see the effects of it. Could dark matter just be space? What if what we perceive as empty space is actually a space filled with dark matter and dark energy? After all , we really don't know what's outside the universe.

What force makes time go "forwards"? As "now" evolves, how is yesterday manifested? Where is yesterday at? What form does the past assume? If yesterday is irretrievable, where has all the energy before "now" gone? Can time be accelerating as observed from extra dimensions, and yet appear constant from within spacetime? Could dark energy be a manifestation of time, past and future, within which information is retrievable to the present?

Just a theory but what the heck, since the earth is ever growing which means it grows in size and mass. Than that would mean the earth's gravitational pull is always increasing along with gravity. What if the Earth we live on reached a gravitational pull climax and started to bear repercussions such as bringing Saturn in our atmosphere more often than what it was first diagnosed as. We could experience even it's meteorite ring being brought into our atmosphere, also since every planet has a gravitational ameba like a circle in a peachree dish what if ours started to devour the moon which is said to be hollow(nasa engineer) started to grow also with earth masss and was br…

I have no idea what dark matter is. Hopefully, through a meaningful exchange of ideas we can make some sense of this. It is estimated that approximately, 27% of the known universe is dark matter. Dark matter because it can't be observed and does not interact with electromagnetic energy. Its logical to assume that all of particles from the BB are still in our universe. Some visible and some are not visible. Therefore, I think dark matter has been part of the universe all along and is not some undiscovered particle outside the standard model. I understand the LHC has completed its two year retrofit and is now more powerful than before. Perhaps they can confirm or debunk su…

I was reading a few articles about random quantum stuff I'd love to say theory or fact or something like that but it's more a hobby not a profession but one that seamed a bit interesting was the vacuum decay theory that the universe could basically just be destroyed by an excitement in the boson field that would realease the pent up potential energy from bosons and expand out at the speed of light "destroying" the universe so in that I have several questions (sorry for the grammar) What is vaccum decay? What is the boson field? Could vacuum decay actually be a fundamental driving force of the universe that explains relative time or am I missing some important informati…

I am a complete layman but someone who's been debating to me about how magic is real just told me Quark can make magic. Can someone here weigh in on this? This is specifically what he said. "Science is indeed the truth, it's been continuously proven time and again and the variance is so minimal it can be considered the truth. But magic is somewhere out there where science can be molded and manipulated in a way that causes abnormalities. Most matter in the universe are a combination of up quarks and down quarks, some of the most stable elementary particles. Yet it's not like you've done enough research to know them well enough. Say I propose an interesting combination …

Hi everyone, It might be very impractical but still I want to ask it. When a ray of light enters a perfect hypothetical reflecting box through a small hole ( that doesn't diffract it), the ray gets trapped if that hole is closed soon. However due to the very strange phenomenon of quantum tunnelling the light ray may come out ( i.e. tunnel out) if we are to leave the box undisturbed for infinite period of time. So the inference is that a light ray cannot be trapped within a closed box for infinite period of time. Now let's take the case to a black hole. A ray of light approaches the event horizon of a supermassive black hole. It enters into it and gets trapped within a…
