  3. They don't say if this process is a hypothesis, has been done in a lab, or if it is ready for the big show. I suspect implementation will require significant engineering. With that kind of economic benefit, it seems at least one power company would be ready to sign a contract, and it might save some of the oil market. Some financier of climate deniers should be ready to foot the bill to bring this technology on-line.

Two promising battery improvements, 200,000 charges and 5x energy density would make electric cars lighter, probably less expensive to purchase, and certainly less expensive over a lifetime. We recently replace our Prius battery after eight years operation. Current batteries are limited 7000 charges; although, fewer charges is more common. Two hundred thousand (or more) charges is more than 25 times battery life, 8*25=200 years. That's ten human generations instead of 2/5 of a generation. If this technology scales up for mass production, large battery size, and low cost, it will be important. If the prediction of 1/5 cost and weight can be achieved in mass…

According to this AP article, the US Army Corps of Engineers have determined that the oldest (8,500 years), most complete human remains ever found in North America are Native American. Discovered near the Columbia River in Kennewick, WA., Kennewick Man has been the center of a custody fight since 1996 between researchers and several Native American tribes claiming his repatriation under the Native American Grave Protection and Repatriation Act. According to some researchers, Kennewick's unique skeletal features suggested a non-Native American ancestry; however, a comparative DNA study by the Northwestern Corps has confirmed that Kennewick is most closely related Native A…

Phys.org: Radio waves not battery fire up WISP, future seen in construction NASA flew a solar powered plane. Is it possible to reap enough EMF from the environment to power a drone? If not, surely a control station with directional antenna could be used to send a beam of modulated EM energy. Such a system could hover indefinitely. Hast it been done or is someone working on it?

  8. They pumped C02 into subterranean basalt, which is common throughout the world. This method is the first time CO2 has been sequestered and turned to rock so quickly. They drilled wells and removed core samples to determine how quickly the CO2 combined chemically with rock. Previously, the consensus was that CO2 would take a very long time to solidify.

Famous peppered moth's dark secret revealed "Scientists have discovered the specific mutation that famously turned moths black during the Industrial Revolution." It is interesting that no one has done this before. I have read some articles by creationists saying: this is nothing special, there was always a variation in colour, it is genetically simple, nothing new happened. Well, guess what? They are wrong. (Surprise!) It is an unusual type of mutation (a transposon) It is a (relatively) recent mutation. (It certainly wasn't part of the pre-existing colour variation.) And it is not simple, as the gene into which the extra sequence was added does not appear to…

  12. In the recent news, once again, the choice to conduct embryos for stem cell research has been highly debated due to scientist increasing the push to increase length of time an embryo can be grown for. This was all initiated due to a study whereby they managed to grow an embryo as long as they could before it became unlawful. Here is a link to the research paper http://www.nature.com/articles/ncb3347. So, I just wanted to know what peoples thoughts were on this subject, and if they believe embryo should be used for stem cell research and if they do how long should the cells be allowed to research. I have wrote an article on this subject if you need to do …

  15. Only 1MW or larger installations were counted. Some installations were under 4 cents per kw-hour without subsidies. Only 18MW of natural gas power plants were added in this quarter, and no oil, coal or nuclear. Similar future quarters are expected. This is good news. I hope the dark forces don't counterattack.

Here is a recent DNews video that tries to answer that question. Perhaps new to the uninitiated, the video discuses established evidence some researchers have found supporting their conclusions in addition to an established MIT study where researchers were able to map the neural patterns of dreaming rats associated with their maze running patterns. Essentially, researchers were able to decipher aspects of the sleeping rats dream content.

  17. Oil prices are down, making oil from algae is not economical at low oil prices. OP: Battery technology improvements by 2x would significantly improve electronic vehicle (EV) economics, and research seems to say 5x better batteries is possible. EV lifetime costs are similar to petrol cars, halving battery cost and weight might be enough that people would prefer an EV. Oil is still the source of plastics, which pollute the environment. But, microbes are eating plastics. Since the supply of plastic food (for microbes) is large and growing, it is possible plastic eaters will thrive and recycle our plastic wastes. In addition, we can become better recyclers. At least, …

  18. I read two new books on teleportation. The researcher was accredited in various field and I have knowledge of her charity work. i will post a link to her books. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=cheri+potter So apparently she came out publicly with the secret findings of teleportation. I was floored when I read the books and everything inside of me confirmed it as true. I was wondering if anyone else has read these two books on teleportation? I will copy there book summery below. The Tables Of the Covenant (TOC): Revelations and Notes on Teleportation is a collective scanned production of the orig…

  19. More regenerative med stem-cell tech. copypasta link w/ image due to poor library computers with copy-paste protocol (my laptop was stolen/(not recovered)) Cool stuff. I don't think it's practical, though. Of issue is defining how, why, and where memories are stored. If there is balancing and compensation from the destruction of brain tissue, whereby plasticity occurs, thus preserving memory and/or allowing signal enhancement, thus potential "data recovery" of the memories, then it would appear to me the whole regen med stuff is pointless. You would want to focus on signal enhancement. Signal 2 Noise ratio I've increasing liked the idea of human trials, be…

I've been reading a lot of articles lately on how the world is getting worse and worse at controlling green house gases. It was more alarming when we hit the years aim for how much CO2 emissions we are supposed to emit as a global team in January... Obviously this doesnt bode well for global warming. However I came across the following article which of posted so you can see the statistics and maybe it isnt all too doom and gloom; http://theindustrypost.com/industrial-energy-use-are-your-doors-shutters-the-key/ Whilst it is mainly a piece about how industries can reduce their energy consumption it does also show some interesting statistics with regards to energ…

According to this MIT News article, neuroscientists believe they have identified the neurons associated with how we process our emotions. The article describes how tagging neurons of mice amygdala with light-sensitive proteins and then exposing these study animals to fear and pleasure stimuli led to their preliminary findings. The article suggests how identifying this emotional circuitry could further our understanding and treatment of mental illness and depression. Enjoy!

Some interesting research into why some people look younger than others. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-36133475 There has been some recent discussion on the forum on the evolution of pale skin. It is easy to imagine how this could be a selection factor - people are, perhaps, more likely to choose a partner who looks younger and, therefore, healthier. And, because of the genes involved also has pale skin.
