"Bomb Iraqs oil fields"

What do you think of this idea by Donald Trump to defeat ISIS? "Bomb the hell out of them" says Trump. Can that be accomplished without too much permanent damage? I doubt that means the oil field fires set by Saddam as he exited Kuwait. It makes sense since the financial support for ISIS is mostly oil revenues. Is there a way to disable that money conduit temporarily, so that it would require expert engineers to fix it, since most of the ISIS fighters are not expert engineers or rocket scientists? Then place an international ban on any expert engineers fixing the money machine of ISIS.

"...Trump said the U.S. military should destroy the oil fields in Iraq that are under ISIS control. “You go in and take the oil. (The U.S.) should have never given it up,” Trump said. “ISIS is wealthy. We can take that wealth away from them.”

Excessive growth of population in the region will cause many wars. There is no sense to spend energy against one force. The forces should weaken each other.

It's difficult to imagine a much better way to recruit more people to ISIS than bombing oil fields and thus causing a whole lot of problems for a whole lot of people.

It reminds me of Bush II and giving military operations Islamic names (Operation Infinite Justice), blowing up mosques, and in general being the best recruiter of new terrorists the world has ever seen. The Donald's depth of knowledge in this area has obviously been sprayed on.

Bomb the future income stream of Halliburton and Exxon and Chevron and the boys? Somehow I think the deep thinking Donald will have second thoughts on that score.

We'd have to bomb the Saudi fields as well.

And good luck enforcing curbs on Iran's oil exports and earnings if the market has been deprived of Iraq's sweet, cheap crude.

Operation Infinite Reach was one under Clinton.

Retreating Iraqi troops set fire to the wells.

Honestly we could destroy the support infrastructure with less environmental and health issues. Plenty of ongoing fossil fuel fires, we don't need to create more.

Is Donald Trump's job to make Jeb Bush look sensible?

Perhaps not intentional, but he will by comparison make the rest of the crazy clowns beside him appear more reasonable in relative terms.

Then again, he's now number one in the polls, so reasonability doesn't seem to be a relevant characteristic to republican voters.

snipped...

WTF; I thought he was the comedy interlude - playing the same role for which the UK has the Monster Raving Loony Party.

I still need to get up to speed on the next race; and from that graphic I suddenly think I need to know what's what.

I'm in favor of cutting off the money flowing into ISIS. How can we do that? Maybe precisely targeting key structures, that are easy to rebuild later, will cut the flow of oil for ISIS to sell. After ISIS is finacially crippled, soldiers no longer getting pay checks, no gas for vehicles, less food and supplies, recruiting dwindles, so they can be defeated. Key infrastructure can be rebuilt, but rebuilding it should be JUST beyond the capability of ISIS.

Not a scorched earth policy.

Does Trump come across to you as resembling Hitler a little bit? He is a political outsider with radical ideas, pompous and grandious, pedantic, except maybe without Hitlers famous hand gestures and hateful rhetoric.

So, what you want to do is make life more difficult for lots of people. that way when ISIS say "we are the only ones who can help you against the evil Americans" everyone will believe them.

Obviously the fact that all those people would then support ISIS (what choice would they have) would reduce ISIS' power influence and finance.

It's also far from clear to me that ISIS soldiers get a pay cheque, so the idea of stopping it seem strange.

And I guess you are not from Mexico.

Hispanic voters might find his rhetoric offensive. So might women, particularly less attractive ones. Also Hitler had a great war record, Trump, not so much. So Trump actually suffers by comparison.

Getting rid of ISUS now that they exist us nearly impossible. How do we get rid of the Westborough Baptists? Fear and angst are the recruitment strategies. Work to decrease the number of people who fear the U.S. Bombing is the opposite of what you want to do. Recreate a modern Marshall Plan is where the evidence is.
