  1. Fair point, I assumed "better" was implied, but my question remains valid, "why are they hiding?"
  2. Why do you assume more advanced is better? "The war of the worlds" springs to mind. Here's one: Why are they hiding?
  3. Is it theoretically possible for a human, hermaphrodite, to self-inseminate?
  4. Because, being wrong is threatening and ugly; and all we want is pretty and predictable... Actual scientist's consider much more than that...
  5. Some species are capable of both, so they're male, female AND both; by my fingers that = 3...
  6. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asexual_reproduction Which ever way you want to spin it, life/sex is more than a simple binary state.
  7. I don't know for sure, but I think we're on the same page...
  8. Indeed, you can chose to learn or you can chose to be ignorant...
  9. Pride is a path to arrogance, humility is a way to avoid it and growth is what we do when we're growing up. What if my goal is, to sit still and think about stuff and if I'm already kind, why do I need to improve?
  10. Why is what you want, more important?
  11. The cost of weaponry, is understanding...
  12. Cometh the hour, cometh the man... 😉
  13. Sorry I had one too many shandies and thought of 'Young Frankenstein' as a witty response. My point is, if England hadn't declared war on Hitler, the outcome would be the same, it's only the death count that would be different and we simply can't tell which path would lead to the greater number. There's nothing wrong with sabre rattling, just don't draw a line in the sand with it...
  14. If you don't like gay marriage; don't marry a gay person...
  15. The next step is, the rest of our lives; be it Chinese or Russian or us... How do we know if fight or flight, is more appropriate...
  16. The best teacher's understand that drink is always involved...
  17. Indeed, we have to re-evaluate what an economy means, the problem is, most of us (by which I mean the important people) are too comfortable...
  18. Who cares who wins??? Head's I win, tail's you lose...
  19. What is justice? That which is justifiable... You may not think so @beecee but I do get where you're coming from... It's so much more satisfying to throw the hammer away, when IT hits my thumb; it's not your fault, it's mine...
  20. An analogy is a way to explain, by way of a story; what standing for what, is the data on which the story is based; you can't cross the same river twice, yet we do so everyday...
  21. If you want people to be scared of prison, put them in a holiday home on their own, with no contact with the outside world, for 2 week's and ask them to imagine that for the rest of their lives. Or force the murderer to face the wrath of his victim's mother. And if neither scares them, their probably incorrigible... 😉
  22. There you go again, arguing in bad faith; unless that's your professional opinion. Just repeating the same thing doesn't magically make it right. If the 'evil man' is in prison with no key, society is protected; that is the punishment and deterrence is irrelevant. So why does prison have to be harsh? I would argue, they have to be harsh to prevent institutionalisation. But that doesn't work, some minor criminal's have been shown to commit more crime because the outside world is much harder and scarier.
  23. It's based on any number of sensational media story's, but you're surely not suggesting the media is without bias? The only way to avoid bias is through training, like a professional judge is given, and/or a clear insight into one's own nature
