Going back to discussing punishment.... maybe the person who sold him the weapon should be held accountable for letting a mentally ill person buy an assault rifle. If this were the case then vendors might be a bit more choosey as to whom they sell guns too and they might not end up in the hands of total maniacs.

I just bought a cheapy Chinese microscope. Same sorta price range. It is a Bresser LCD Micro 5MP microscope with a digital camera and video recorder attached. You can only view on screen, but seems fine. Has usb connection to PC and takes an SD card. Mag x 500. I do not have a big usage for it here at work, but it is a useful lab tool to have and I have been meaning to get one for ages. As with any of these cheap Chinese things, they give good functionality for the price.... and if it does break then it has cost me £150 not £1500.

not heard of 'mono' chloro benzene... I would assume this is a benzene ring with a Cl atom on it. Do you mean m-chlorobenzine? This donates the Cl atom in the meta position. (as opposes to the ortho or para positions which would be o-chlorobenzine and p-chlorobenzine) PS:-Yea - looks like it just means that there is just one single Cl atom on the ring... I think that the 'mono' is superfluous as it is assumed that there is just one Cl atom - otherwise you'd call it dichlorobenzene for instance... you can then use the o, m and p prefixes to indicate the position of the Cl atoms, or you can use numbers for position (2,3,4) instead of the o,m and p.

Glad you survived. There are numerous account like this. The fact your friend called at the right time is a co-incidence. A very good one. Happens all the time and for every time it happens there are many many more where it does not happen and your Christian friend does not phone and wake you. There are plenty of dead people who have Christian friends that did not phone them when they were asleep and having a heart attack... just as there are people that have been woken up by people who are not Christians. It might seem incomprehensible to you, but if you think about it then it is not. It happens all the time. All of the visions of good and evil and rooms of people that you saw are also common delusion experienced by people in similar situations and prove nothing towards being able to prove or disprove a god. Why would you think the ball of light was Jesus? Wouldn't he appear as a person and actually say something useful rather than just hanging in the air throbbing? As I said - I am glad you are now safe. Delusions that occur when unconscious are common and you shouldn't draw conclusions from them.

Lots of things over lap physics and chemistry... gas laws, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, fluid dynamics, spectroscopy etc... My first degree was in Chemical Physics - which looks directly at such overlaps in more detail. People try to tell me that Physical Chemistry is the same thing... not in this country - Physical chemistry means rates of reactions, gas laws etc... chemical physics is a whole area where they is any overlap. For example - Spectroscopy is thought of as chemical physics, not physical chemistry. This might be different in the US as I have heard people use different terminology for the same things... Again, it could be different elsewhere... it doesn't really matter I suppose.

Upwards? Depends on the angle of the sides of the cup... up and out the top and forwards, unless the sides are exactly vertical. They are usually sloped though.

My first guess (I haven't looked anything up) - is that not all incident UV beams cause a cross linking action to take place... Say, for argument sake, that 25% of the incident UV radiation activates a cross linking reaction... then it would take 4 times the UV light to double the amount of cross linking taking place. It is probably more complicated that this, but these are my first thoughts.

Yea - does it really matter? I'd want my sample to fill about a quarter of the filter thimble so it doesn't over fill and wash over the top... but this might be over precaution. As long as your sample that you are washing is safely in the filter I wouldn't have thought that it matters how large the soxhlet is.

There has been absolutely no evidence shown beyond individual testimonies of people feeling a presence or having prayers answered. Both of which can easily be explained in other ways rather than proving a god exists.

How about a very small neodymium magnet? They are light and powerful. A magnet will be more responsive than any metal.
