- Gun control, which side wins?
Cynical? No. Not cynical enough. It’s May 16, and there have already been more than 200 mass shootings in the US… just so far in 2022.- Transgender athletes
If we start back at the beginning, it’s actually about whether “pees standing” or “pees sitting” is the best way to categorize and separate athletes within a sport, or if new legislation should continue to be crafted to create new laws actively preventing transgendered kids from playing their preferred sport in the league mostly closely aligned with their identity… with who they are in every other moment of their lives.- Transgender athletes
I guess 2 weeks ago I was right. My point remains. You’ve begin with a conclusion and say others must disprove it, then say THEY’RE not being skeptical enough when they call that conclusion into question. It’s sad, otherwise I’d laugh.- Transgender athletes
I may be misunderstanding, but I thought your position was to begin by assuming males are better riders then ask others to accept the assertion as valid or disprove this with evidence. Likewise, I thought Charons position was to ensure we validate our priors and confirm that our opening premise is actually valid before searching for disproof or gathering reasons to explain why. In what universe is that equivalent to “not being skeptical enough?”- Jesus and Muhammed, same person?
Quite right. Appreciate the correction. He should worship Frankenstein’s monster then- Why is alcohol legal ?
Exactly right! This is why I never give my sweetheart more than 50 pounds of chocolate in Idaho or pay my one armed piano players to perform in Iowa. Finally, when I travel on business to New York, I never wear my slippers after 10pm. 🙄 https://online.olivet.edu/news/united-states-crazy-laws- A God Without Limitations
- is there another way, therapeutic or non-curative, to reduce "adenosine" and increase "adenosine triphosphate"?
The effects of meditation seem to overlap quite a bit with sleep.- If I was able to live for millions of years
You’re also unfamiliar with gene editing, and viruses I take it? Snark doesn’t magically make me wrong. 😂- If I was able to live for millions of years
One leg at a time. (Works better when spoken) I see Genady already replied, but even in a biological sense answering this is easy. For example… Radioactivity would work, and gene expressions change based on behavior as per epigenetics, for example.- US-Roe vs Wade overturned
Thanks for clarifying.- US-Roe vs Wade overturned
Nope, but you ought to be asking JCM as he introduced it. Twice. I quoted it and replied in context.- Why is alcohol legal ?
You two remind me of a married couple, and not a loving one.- US-Roe vs Wade overturned
Given that even birth control measures are currently being criminalized, I reckon this doesn't much matter for the particular issues being debated across the US right now. Even if it did, I don't suppose a 15-week old collection of cells could be considered as "feeling pain."- US-Roe vs Wade overturned
Yeah, the same sex marriage decision was also based on this underlying principle of personal privacy. It's about much more than abortion.- US-Roe vs Wade overturned
Women who have natural miscarriages will be charged with murder. That's where this particular pan is going unless something halts the extremists pushing this agenda.- A God Without Limitations
You should review the rules here on proselytization. That much has been obvious from the start. You ignore feedback and how your position is being received by the audience with whom you're trying to engage, and that's sad. Then you cannot claim to be doing philosophy. You're evangelizing and little more.- US-Roe vs Wade overturned
It does, and those are already in place. Sadly, the laws are reverting to making it impossible often before the woman even knows she’s pregnant, and in many states plan on charging the woman and her doctor and the Uber driver who connected them with murder.- To All Women in Science
FYI from 2 months ago- Why is alcohol legal ?
They're both psychotropics, but one is like driving a tricycle while the other is like driving a Bugatti.- A God Without Limitations
You are making a distinction without a difference. Your leap of faith applies equally to both. One is just more culturally acceptable than the other for adults to maintain. But fine… Why not a leap,of faith toward Zeus… or Thor… or Poseidon… or any of the other thousands of god(s) laying dead in the graveyard of human mythology? If you’re going to make up your own answers… answers beyond the reach of evidence… then why not unicorns? It really is all the same when faith and wish thinking alone are your guide. It’s also a bit of a lightning rod to help keep his particular brand of woo out of the biology and physics forums. Most of philosophy begins with defining our terms. So, define “god” in a unambiguous way. Go ahead. I’ll wait.- A God Without Limitations
You should do something about that, then. That your ideas are bunk, maybe?- A God Without Limitations
I’m correcting things you say that are false. That’s not fighting, that’s helping. It adds criticism to your idea that differing approaches between science and religion is just a game and it does so in a lighthearted, humorous, pithy way. That battle is not a game, and it affects the lives of real people in very real (and often traumatic) ways. I don’t want what you’re selling, but you keep peddling it anyway.- A God Without Limitations
Which means it’s indistinguishable from make believe, fiction, and even fantasy. Also, redundant use of “of” there, btw. If you’re going to try sounding more formal by avoiding use of a preposition at the end of a sentence, then don’t put it twice with one of those redundant entries appearing at the end of the sentence. - Gun control, which side wins?
