Just because it’s not imminent doesn’t mean it won’t be existential. My kids are super grateful to you that you don’t care what their lives will be like, how hard it will be to grow crops to feed 9 Billion people, or find fresh drinking water during droughts, or survive the tornadoes and hurricanes and hard freeze blizzards each season, or the nasty illnesses evolving and transmitted during mass human migrations when you and I are both long dead and gone. Super grateful, we all are, that you acknowledge something should be done about this but you recognize how “putting libs in their place” is the more important topic to discuss here.

Are there extremes on both sides of the political aisle? Yes, of course. Are they equivalent? No, absolutely not, and anyone suggesting otherwise is arguing a false equivalence. The extremes in the right try kidnapping state governors, think there’s a secret child sex ring running the government and that teachers who let kids read books about slavery should be jailed, and ignore election results by rising up fully armed in a coup or insurrection, whereas extremes on the left try getting us to please address climate change, offer healthcare to poor people, and get the police to stop murder our black citizens in the streets without any consequences.

I asked a similar question more than once earlier in this thread and have yet to receive a satisfactory answer. Racialization has occurred for centuries. It was something earlier presidents did as recently as 4 years ago, but fairly consistently so did majority of presidents before them, too. This is an objective statement of fact, not an argument in favor. So… If THAT is what you detest, why did you wait until NOW with THIS president on THIS one historic nomination to express your passionate outrage and concern about it? What’s driving your timing and the timing of all these millions of others raging out about it, do you think? Is it purely an organic desire for us to reach our long missed ideals… just a coincidence that it was THIS time everyone collectively stood up to say “enough is enough?”

Did I stutter? Your position fascinates me. Basically it’s this: You think Biden made a great choice. You think she’ll be an excellent justice. You are glad the bench now better represents the American people. You acknowledge nearly all of the last several presidents have pre-announced a desire for a specific demographic group to get nominated. You acknowledge Biden acted in accordance with historical precedent. But you also think it was bad form because America is in a weird place right now and some people are upset thinking he wasn’t acting fairly and that “the left” have their heads in the sand and feel white men should feel sorry for history… despite the long standing precedent, and despite it being a good choice, and despite evidence she’ll be a thoughtful and cautious justice on the bench.
