  1. No. Vax (2 shots plus booster) plus confirmed infection from the past equals strongest possible protection. What you have now is an immune system that saw the caterpillar when it was young and can fight against that caterpillar, but that same immune system can’t recognize the butterfly in its current state with its current colors. The caterpillar is no longer relevant and the butterfly is what’s flying around today. Just like getting the flu in 2020 doesn’t much protect you from getting flu in 2022, covid has evolved a LOT since you had your infection 2 years ago so should be mostly ignored in terms of predicting risk.
  2. No, but in the weeks ahead, yes. As for my own update, Biden plans to announce another $1 billion+ in new military aid to Ukraine today, including anti-armor and anti-air systems (according to the WSJ)

  4. He’s become pretty good at turning neighbors and family and friends against each other over small issues. It’s unsurprising he’d feel confident about being able to do it with his soldiers. Part of the issue here, however, is also that he’s been lying to them about why they’re being there and they likely resent seeing the truth upon arrival.
  5. And less last Monday when the ruble to dollar exchange rate was even lower
  6. Yeah, but REAL bravery is obviously driving around with the express purpose of creating a traffic jam with a truck to protest a mask mandate that’s already been lifted. All she did was write on a piece of cardboard. #perspective /sarcasm
  7. I still see no relevant response to my query regarding relevance, but this has wasted enough bandwidth already so let's please move on.
  8. In which case... the connection to my post is...what?
  9. They’re engaging in it now, too. Software security teams and the US officials overseeing this space have been openly conforming this. Servers of companies announcing they’d pull out of Russia have been inundated with parallel threat vectors, too.
  10. The US pretty clearly has escalation dominance, but is also more unwilling to use it.
  11. Exactly. Sanctions will remain as a negotiation lever and will be wound down contingent on agreements made and Russian adherence to them.
  12. The egg is also itself a chicken in that case. The distinction is without difference.
  13. Any benefit provided is in most cases just placebo Herb and it’s related gummy offshoots is often helpful for pain, not just the emotional variety either.
  14. Because too many people were claiming they did things which they obviously did not. Too many people simply invented narratives about how these voodoo medicines functioned. Some of us prefer things which work and which aren’t based on little more than half truths from uncle Larry and old wives tales from granny’s weird cousin. Do you know what they call alternative medicine that actually works? They call it “medicine.”
  15. Can you read everyone’s minds, or just the mind of the autocrat in charge of Russia and threatening nuclear fallout across Eurasia right now?
  16. Eggs existed before chickens did no matter how you frame it. Why is this even a question
  17. The US has authorized another $200M arms package including antitank and antiaircraft missiles for Ukraine bringing the total to $1.2B in weapons sent by the Biden administration in the past year.
  18. Starting?
  19. Oh, well so long as YOU’RE convinced, yep. That’s good enough for me. 👍 It’s definitely going to deescalate. The only real question is how long that may take to eventually happen.
  20. You should’ve stopped there
  21. Sounds like you’re suggesting their stockpiles are already depleted? That sounds unlikely to me, but I also haven’t tracked that metric myself.
  22. They probably just meant they failed high school physics
  23. I certainly take your point, but principles neither stop nor deliver bullets. They don’t stop my flat from being demolished nor help my kids evade falling rubble when it’s struck from a plane above or a tank below… and while I’d gladly play chess with you, would prefer my texts arrive from Beth Harmon of Queens Gambit.
  24. Financially, yes. In just 2 weeks, approx 2 decades of Russian economic gains have been erased, but so far the fighting is all being done by Ukrainians. They need help, but as backup remains still slow to arrive from the west I’m hesitant to say we outside Ukraine are also already at war.
  25. And we need not rely on the word of a captured soldier alone. The evidence of what sites Russia has been targeting speaks rather plainly for itself. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/show/russian-shelling-of-civilian-targets-causes-day-of-carnage-across-ukraine
