  1. The only 'science' that adage is remotely true for, is Holistic, or integrated, Medicine. These alternative medicines ( or quackery ) is any practice that aims to achieve the healing effects of medicine, but which lacks biological plausibility and is untested, untestable, or proven ineffective.
  2. I read that too, and was puzzled by it. Can you shed any light on why a half dose followed by a full dose would be more effective than a full dose followed by another full dose ? And not just by a bit, but 50% more effective ?
  3. How do you think D Trump's trying to disqualify Georgia votes, and vilification of the whole state, plays out with the voters in January when the two Senate seats come up for election ? Could his antics sour the voters on Republicans, so that they vote in Democrat Senators ? IOW, is the Republican party shooting itself in the foot by still backing the Loser ?
  4. Lovely ?? Your standards for 'lovely' are quite low .
  5. I've never been so tempted to give somebody a neg rep, Zap .
  6. I like the photos and links to waterfalls, sandstone landscapes, and starscapes, but please, no more giant pictures of bugs. I feel itchy all over, like bugs are crawling all over me, after I see those.
  7. I like it too, +1. In life, you try to control what you can. A good archer will move to a position to shoot with the wind; not cross, or against, it. It beats never shooting your arrow, or railing at the uncontrollable wind.
  8. Welcome back to the 'sparring' match, MSC. You've outlined many reasons why Black American fathers aren't ( or weren't ) in the home. Most of them valid. But that doesn't change the fact that a lot of Black American children are born to homes without a father present. And,as the mother then becomes the sole provider, and has to work, a lot of these kids don't even make it through high school. Whatever the reasons for the fathers not being there, even you must admit that makes the situation a lot worse for the kids, and leads to a cycle of poverty. The study I quoted is freely available to all, and I would say that, far from being irrelevant because of its age, things have actually gotten worse in the past 60 years, and not just for Black Americans, but for all groups surveyed. Meanwhile you claim a study, for which you give no link, that 'quality' time is what's really important, neglecting to mention how subjective 'quality' is. ( is being your child's friend higher quality than being his parent ? The two are very different and we both know which is more important, yet better 'quality' depends on whether you ask the parent or the child ) Mind you this is mostly opinion, and understand,I'm not saying that is the only problem. There are many problems to equal opportunity. The large majority of them depend on the group that is doing the oppressing, as opposed to the disadvantaged group. So you can go through life depending on others to fix problems ( and we both know there will be resistance to this ), or you can take the initiative and fix any problems that are in your power to fix. Last time I checked that was called 'responsibility'. Oh, and I appreciate that my comments 'interested' you .
  9. Hopefully, Donald the Loser, and his lawyers ( especially mascara-hair Rudy ), get a good lesson in what the laws actually are, when they are vigorously prosecuted after he leaves office.

    Recognize anyone ?
  11. That's probably the least of our problems, INow. The Loser is now considering options to strike Iran. This after he's announced plans for troop withdrwals from the Middle East and Afghanistan. The Loser seems a little confused.
  12. doesn't that mean that county's results ( or possibly all of Michigan's, eventually ) are tossed out ? Certainly not that the results 'switch' to the loser ?
  13. Many historical 'facts' are contested and debated by historians. Things like the cause of the fall of the Mycenaean civilization, which, along with Crete, comprised the 1st Greek empire, fought a war with Troy, and literally disappeared from the face of the Earth. Things like did the Roman Empire really fall, or did it just 'absorb' invaders and convert them to the Roman way of life and governance. Things like the cause and mistakes in execution of the 1st World War. And its contribution to the beginning of the 2nd World War. Things like Papal authority ( even over Emperors ) and the amassing of power and corruption by the Church, along with wars encouraged by the Church and the selling of 'Salvation' which led to splintering into differing 'sects'. Things like was the Vietnam War winnable, and more importantly, was winning necessary or of benefit. Things like the paradigm shift that brought about the Renaissance. How many did you want me to list ...
  14. Of the people involved in the study, who got infected with Coronavirus, 90-95% received the placebo. But 5 -10 people who received the actual vaccine treatment were also infected. IOW, a small group of infected people from a large group of test subjects. But as infections go up in the US, much clearer results should soon be available
  15. Whooooo ! 2nd Coronavirus vaccine shows Early success in US tests. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/2nd-coronavirus-vaccine-shows-early-success-in-u-s-tests/ar-BB1b3x07?ocid=msedgntp 94.5 % !!!
  16. Of the four leading ( Western ) contenders, I'm not sure if taking more than one will be beneficial. They all seem to get the same result through slightly different means. The four leading Western COVID-19 vaccines (not from Asia) are all "expression-based," meaning that they introduce into the patient's cells the genetic code for a modified spike protein that can't trigger into the post-fusion form (After the virus enters the cell). The Pfizer/BNT and Moderna are mRNA vaccines, AstraZenica/Oxford is a ChAdOx1-vectored vaccine, and the Johnson and Johnson/Jansen is an Adenovirus 26-vectored vaccine. I think all require at least one booster within 3 weeks, and possibly yearly ( ? ) boosters thereafter. I was originally thinking the same thing; if one vaccine gives you 90%, adding another, even with diminishing returns, would get you 95%, and a third might get you to 97%, and so on. But, if initial results pan out, they can get 90%, and start ramping up production/distribution in early 2021, we should be enjoying life again by early summer. Most vaccinations are not even close to 100% ( Polio is, and measles at 97% ), but even at 70-80%, they have allowed us to control various diseases so that we don't even worry about them anymore. Of course there will be people who cannot take the vaccines ( babies, children, allergic reactions, etc. ? ); and then there's the anti-Vaxxers ... edit CharonY may have more ( accurate ) information
  17. According to Wiki, the blue shift of the Hydrogen line frequency indicates a relative motion of about 10 km/sec towards us. So they are already coming for us !!! ( might take some time, as they are 41 LY away )
  18. Yeah, wild game is always more tasty than farm grown meats.
  19. What makes you think no one has … Response[edit] In 2012, on the 35th anniversary of the Wow! signal, Arecibo Observatory beamed a digital stream towards Hipparcos 34511, 33277, and 43587.[29] The transmission consisted of approximately 10,000 Twitter messages solicited for the purpose by the National Geographic Channel, bearing the hashtag "#ChasingUFOs" (a promotion for one of the channel's TV series).[30] The sponsor also included a series of video vignettes featuring verbal messages from various celebrities.[31] To increase the probability that any extraterrestrial recipients would recognize the signal as an intentional communication from another intelligent life form, Arecibo scientists attached a repeating-sequence header to each individual message, and beamed the transmission at roughly 20 times the power of the most powerful commercial radio transmitter.[30 From the Wiki article on WOW signal... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wow!_signal
  20. During the last months, and in all the debates, D Trump has always claimed a vaccine is 'just around the corner', as a defense against his bungled Coronavirus response. And Pfizer waits until D Trump loses the election t announce their vaccine is testing 90 % effective. Reminds me of the American hostages in Iran being released just in time for R Reagan's election. But I still like it.

That's very conceited. You are the 'Moon'.
  22. Yeah, you see videos of people doing surveys all the time. Every time some guy in camo fatigues, with an assault rifle and 30 round clip, is asked about things like medicare for all, living minimum wage, carbon tax, legalizing pot or forgiving student debt, they are all for it.
  23. I tend to agree Doc. It would be statistically impossible for all Republicans to be idiots. And I'm starting to think that no matter how much some of the members of this forum ( along with some progressive Americans, and the rest of the free world ) may want it, America, as a whole, is not yet ready to embrace a progressive agenda.
  24. Has it ever occurred to you that the inherent paradoxes involved in time travel, such as any causality breaking or 'grandfather' paradox, suggest time travel is unreal ???
