  1. Hi, I'm going to build a Joule Thomson Air Liquefier for my research, I will use 7 Bar air compressor, I wonder is that pressure enough to operate. Stages 1. Air Inlet and compressed to Primary Cooling Core 2. Primary Cooling Core (This is Coolant, which are filled with Dry Ice, Ethanol) 3. Main Cooling Tower 4. Liquid Air Output 5. Regeneration

Perhaps some smarter folks could assist me in thinking through this, but I think something important from physics is missing. There are several theories out there that support the universe being made up of different possible units, one such example being information theory, where information is the basic unit of the universe. What makes these theories so interesting is their outside of the box nature, and a different approach to much of the same data that makes up more classical theories. That is not to say any such theories are proven, nor provable, but I think its a good thing physics is moving into new arenas. Perhaps it's not quite as scientific as we would desire …

  4. I understand that it is always better to check experimentally. Given that... A particle and anti-particle pair of equivalent mass are created from an amount of energy equivalent to at least twice the mass of the particle or antiparticle. This energy, say a gamma photon, was previously affected by a gravitational field in accordance with its mass-equivalent energy. After the particle and anti-particle come back together and annihilate, energy conservation dictates that the equivalent amount of energy is produced, i.e. the same gamma photon. This photon continues to be affected by the previous gravitational field. Is it possible that the matter and anti-matter partic…

I have done some minor research on antimatter and how it can be both beneficial as well as harmful for us humans. So here's my question - About 5 kilo of antimatter can produce enough energy to power earth for a millennium, but it is also enough to completely obliterate earth. Do you think we should invest money into antimatter research? Why?

  8. I am now studying in secondary school. Most of the time I have encountered classical physics, stating gravity is a force, time is constant, distance/displacement is constant, mass is constant, electrons orbit around the nucleus of atoms, etc. Anyone who study Modern Physics would immediately know that the above statements are wrong. If wrong(some may argue that it is just incomplete), then why continue to teach wrong ideas, and then only try and start to correct somebody when he/she is in university. But by the time he/she is in university, it is too late. The very firm idea that gravity is a force, time is constant, distance/displacement is constant, mass is constant, el…

  9. Can anybody explain me in which direction the electic current will flow in a cunductor kept in a changing electomagnetic field as described below, A thin wire shape conductor is kept perpendiculer to the direction of field generated by an electromagnet. Assum that magnetic field is along the 'x' axis, conducter is placed along the 'y' axis now if we change the current in electromagnet coil or put the current on or off than it will change the magnetic flux and a current will be generated in conductor. We all know the fleming's low and lenz's law, as per my understanding of these laws, current can flow either in 'y' to '-y' derection or from '-y' to 'y' direc…

Hello everyone Just asking myself this question over and over again: Is every color we see the negative one from what it actually is? Light, colours as we see it, is reflected light. If white light falls on an object, which in its turn sends out light in that colour that we accept is the colour of the object, then it must absorb the rest of the white light - the negative of the reflected colourful light. E.g. I have in front of me a computer mouse which appears black to me (let's assume it's pure black - not very realistic, but hey, we're reasoning theoretically here). Black (or 'no light') is being reflected from it. No light is reflected, so all light must…

  13. Some two yers ago I was designing a small, cheap electromagnetic clutch. I noticed that magnetic field lines would cross (radially) through a ball bearing, but I didn't expect much problems with that. However, it proved that the magnetic field increased the ball bearing drag much more than I expected. I had to redesign the clutch to include an aluminum ring around the ball bearing to provide some magnetic insulation (this increased complexity of the clutch considerably)... Until now I don't understand why did magnetic field increased the drag that much - forces involved by magnetic field were well under the ball bearing limit (normal mechanical forces of the same magnitud…

Satellite phones are rugged and used for businessmen going on safari for the most part, and run about the same as a regular cellular communications phone. Why are there not any companies seeking to integrate satellite communication phones in the same fashion that cells are today, technologically and economically (i.e. touch screens, contracts)? Are there any difficulties in infrastructure or ability that are limiting in this development?

Hello everyone I have a question I have stumbled upon.. well... playing with stuff. In my bathroom, I have some sort of cup with a chalice-like-shaped 'cover' (see attachment) The black boll is a solid metal ball at which I hold this 'cover'. The rest is, of course, hollow. Now, I've experienced something rather strange; when I tap my finger on the hollow, metal part, keeping hold of the solid ball, it produces a sound - rather logic. The strange part is, that the sound is extremely loud (well, it IS extremely loud when held less dan 2 cm from my ear) at the outer sides (outside of this 'chaliceshape') and there is absolutely no sound in this chalice shape. (So …

It would be great to know of other transformative thinkers/researchers who are still alive and are underfunded/unrecognized for whaterver reason.

Lets say you had a cup that contains 1500 cc of water at 60 degrees Fahrenheit and you dropped 300 cc of ice that was 30 degrees Fahrenheit. if the water could not transfer heat to anything else other than the ice at what temp would the water and ice reach equilibrium. I was wondering if there was some kind of math equation that i could use to solve this.
