Hi. I have NO router, no WiFi at home. My 'smart' phone does have that feature which is not enabled now, I never use or need it... Once I enabled such and printed a document from my phone direct to my WiFi printer. What is the correct term for that connection ? Words like peer-to-peer ; ad-hoc ? something else ? Stores sell a WiFi door-bell camera with intercom that can use a 'smart' phone to see who is at the door and even dialog with. What should I look for in the specifications/instructions terminology wording to know if its WiFi connection is direct door-bell-to-phone or needs a router at home ?

In March 2024, I'm going to have to create a programming project as apart of my computer science Alevel, which I'm aiming to replicate the Huffman's algorithm (which is a type of lossless data compression) in C# so that it is a functional app that can be used. However, I want to expand on this with other types of algorithms that seem complex enough to add to this project and that are also related to compression (can be lossy or lossless) which I could replicate in C#. I asked my teacher for examples and they suggested a form of run length encoding. I am also planning to add it in but I want to ask for more examples for algorithms that I could have as an option …

We have an Tomcat App server and we are running Pega application on top of it, we would like to implement HTTPS for our application. I have been provided with CA certificate to implement HTTPS. Process: To achieve this I have created a key store and I have imported the CA certificate into it and changed some configurations in server.xml file. I have also given Key store path and key store password. After restarting the server, I was able to browse the URL with HTTPS, but it is throwing an error saying "this certificate is invalid". As per my understanding, it is taking the key store private key certificate instead of CA certificate which is incorrect.

My computer has slowed down to the point of almost being unusable, it started about a week ago and has only gotten worse. When I am on my desktop it will almost not let me open google. It takes several minutes just to get to google and the internet. I have run McAfee virus scan and Malwarebytes not to mention restarted my tower several times to no avail. The scans say my computer is fine. Does anyone have any idea about the cause and cure of this problem?

Regards. My compfuser idling for about 10+ minutes untouched since the last site visited. Fan speeds up. Seen that at certain sites that demand? more processing resources, but how it happens while doing nothing ? Switching to another site the fan returned to its low speed state. Is there under-the-table activity pushed by some web sites, in the magnitude of raising processing ? Can it be related to operative system or to cookies and alike ?

Greetings. Went to a local computer repair shop to see if they had for sale any laptop with a side-removable/pluggable hard drive slot. There are some older ideal candidates but they had none of those for sale. Intention is to select which operative system hard drive to plug/boot from for the task of the moment. Mostly Win11 or Linux. The conversation degenerated into choices of -having two internal hard drives, -having one hard drive with two OS partitions, -having two PCs, -having two USB hard drives and plug the desired one, -having only one 'special' USB-to-hard drive cable to connect, boot and work with the opera…

Hi there. I start my final year of my computer science degree this September and, alongside other modules, will do an independent final year project. I have not had very much CS experience outside my degree so I am a bit unsure what would be feasible for me while not being too trivial such that I receive a poor grade. I was looking to do something related to my interests and one of my initial ideas that my tutor seemed to like was generating an image from a given piece of music. I am not yet fully sure about what metrics I would use to do this, but I was thinking a combination of rhythm, lyrics, velocity and harmonics. For a general example, an aggressive sounding p…
