Seen any good sculptures made from almonds lately? Note: no other nut-based sculptures may be discussed under threat of the ban-hammer!

Google Earth, Eastern Libya or Western Egypt. My best guess is some sort of artificial ponds, but they are nearly 1 km wide, and in the middle of a desert. http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=24.148633,23.426285&spn=0.161307,0.288322&t=k&hl=en Whatever it's for, it's one hell of a complex.

I'll start with a message I have e-mailed and posted on several sites: Hello- Don't know if this question is even applicable but: found your studies and explaination of frequency generators on the web and that's why I'm asking. I'm nearly at the end of my rope and have tried everything to keep my neighbors' unbelievably loud and outrageously annoying GEESE away from my home for about 6 years. At first, a cd playing sounds with dogs and geese predators worked but they've (the geese) been so conditioned by the neighbor that they've even shied (or actually, not shied) away from that approach. I've even been to therapists for this problem (constant audio bombardment) and …

NASA's 2003 budget was approx. $15 billion. Do you think the space agency is making proper use of its funding? Should NASAs priorities be reconsidered? A survey of Americans showed that the majority think that NASA is a waste of taxpayers money. Speaking of NASA funding...The Voyager mission might get cut from the team too. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A23500-2005Apr3.html

There was a project on for making a Russian space shuttle during the final soviet years. It was called the Buran. Wikipedia has a good load on it, but I'd like to know more about it. Did they have to cancel it ? Couldn't they have suspended it and resumed it when their economy was not crumbling ? Maybe now ? Because, I think if it was operational, the ISS would have been finished for a while now as it can carry a larger payload than its american counterpart.

Hello Everyone, I require some assistance in the matter of science fair experiments. I am entering these science fairs for the second year now, last year I won first place in engineering. This year, I need new material, but I have no idea what to select as a project. I am not coming up with anything and I figured this is the best place to turn to. So if anyone has some science fair experiments (must be experiments not projects) please tell me, its really important! Even if someone could give me a theory or hypothesis I could most likely make it into an experiment. I could get my hands on almost any materials and I have until lets say somewhere around Jan. - Feb. 2006 to …

This has been making the rounds of various aircraft/spaceflight discussion forums lately, but I don't have a good news link for the story, I'm afraid. If I run across something direct I'll pass it along. As I said back when Discovery flew in August, I believe we've already seen the last shuttle flight. A lot of observers have noted what appears to be further confirmation that NASA has no intention of flying another mission, in spite of this this week's announcement of a May launch window. Recent news that leans in the direction of "the fat lady's already back in the dressing room" include a plethora of candid-but-off-the-record comments to reporters, complaints abo…

Probably more aimed at the members from the UK, but Marmite...love it or hate it ? Incidentally whilst in Nicaragua a few years ago, a British lad had brought some over. We were all sat round a table for dinner with some travellers from the states, when he revealed the little black jar of yeasty goodness. The people from the states were almost angry at the thought of consuming such a tar like substance...'My God, what's the matter with you people, you eat this stuff !!!' Is Marmite readily available in any other countries ? Is this stange viscous spread only enjoyed by the British...like battered (deep fried) Mars Bars (I've yet to try these, but they sound repuls…

This was prompted by another thread, but I'm interested in hearing anyone's very first memory. I remember discussing this years ago, and there seems to be a myth that your first memory somehow shapes who you are...I don't buy it personally, but if anyone else would like to comment on that premise, feel free. My first ever memory was relatively traumatic. I went to a local park with my parents, and I remember going down the 'little' slide, I wasn't man enough to tackle the 'big' slide (being a child and everything), and through my blind happy abandon I didn't realise there was a boy still sitting on the end. I flew right into the back of him and knocked him off, and al…

Go to www.google.com and search for "failure" (without the quotes) and then press I'm Feeling Lucky..... hahaha! There are 2 others I know like that, but I think everyone else does too, if you search "French military victories" and "weapons of mass destruction" (both without quotes, both with I'm Feeling Lucky). Hey! The WMD one is not working anymore... shame because it was funny. It was a "This page cannot be displayed" try looking in Iraq, kind of page, I can't remember it that well, it was funny though.

I came across this site today. http://www.thebanmappingproject.com/ It has complete maps of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, some of which are still being excavated. Measuring tools on the maps, photos, you name it. I've been lost in there for the last 3 hours or so. I reccomend having a look at KV-5, the tomb for the sons of Ramses II. Amazing.

Ok, I have this essay to write and I was wondering if you can give me some ideas for things to include in the essay...The question is "What is the role and Ethics in science discovery? How concerned should scientists be about what effects or uses their discoveries may have??" .... What is your opinion? *AzOrEs*

why would any body get banned? I mean, even the unpleaseant people can have things to say too. but then again maybe their remarks are too radical for people to accept? or maybe i'm wrong? i'm not sure. could i get an answer. or would this be trolling?

He got banned! I wonder why? I was rather curious to see his theory. I know that he was dragging on forever and ever, but he was JUST about to post it last time I checked the relativity forum. Anyone knows why he was banned and his thread deleted? Did he, again, refrained from posting his theory?

Dear all, I am a 17 year old kid studying in Singapore. Currently, I am in a Junior College, Year 1 (that's what we call our high school I guess.), studying for my A'Levels next year. This part of my life has been filled with trials and I would say it had made me a stronger person. One of the challenges would of course, be academic. I love physics. It explains the world around me. I like to be able to relate things in theory to the reality. I delve into physics philosophy, asking myself questions why we study this, why things are like that but not like the other. But somehow, I cannot seem to translate this passion into academic grades. As such, I find myse…

Another day, another concept…it’s beginning to piss me off. http://www.pumpupthedots.com Have you guys seen this? Internet advertising based solely around a webpage based solely around internet advertising based solely around a webpage – it would be genius if you stopped the thought process before it became circular. I know the internet has room for plenty of strange concepts, but I do find this one faintly ridiculous. Been reading, http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com started it all – some student trying to go through Uni without amassing a large debt in the process, so I guess it’s fair to try, but is it just me or does the whole thing stink of a bubble infl…

I've been trying to find a rather large graduated container for performing oil consumption tests on combustion engines. I don't know where to find such a large container at least 10 liters or 10 quarts. I did see one on CSI the other night when they where draining the fuel tank on a murder scene car to check for blood in the gasoline. Any help would be appreciated.
