  1. Some of my clothes have "hand wash only" on the label, and until now I never really attempted to hand wash my clothes. But coincidentally, I found myself out of laundry detergent, and I didnt really feel like running down to the organic store to pick up anymore. So, I had a bright idea : use liquid dish detergent instead. So as a test, I filled up my bathtub with warm water and suds it up with dish detergent, and threw some clothes in. (And then I suddenly realized why I never handwashed clothes, because kneeding everything by hand is an intense workout!) I kept like colors with each other, so the first batch of clothes were a bunch of black skirts, dresses, and sweat…

Name the song and band from these lyrics. All answers will have something to do with a female (a specific one, or female(s) in general). And since I'm not a teenager or recently in college, these songs are from last century. 1. She's fashionably lean, and she's fashionably late 2. You'll see us together, chasing the moonlight 3. You could say she was attractively built 4. She's got a daughter and you're just not coping 5. Thursday night your stockings needed mending. 6. You've got your nuclear boots 7. Smiling Jack is driving by 8. There are some things you can't cover up with lipstick and powder 9. Her hair is kinda wild and free 10. So she fills up her s…

(Note: I'd ask this in a Health Sciences forum if there were one. If a mod knows where health science-related questions should go, feel free to toss this thread in there) After visiting Japan and using a Washlet (an integrated toilet/bidet/blowdryer combo) using toilet paper makes me feel like I'm in the stone age. Yet it seems like most of the western world still relies on toilet paper as the primary way of "cleaning" after defecation. When I have seen bidets outside of Japan, they generally take the form of a separate unit beside the toilet with a hand-operated faucet, as opposed to the electronically-controlled Japanese all-in-one models. What's the deal? A…

  8. At 5:30 in the morning a few days ago a woman and her seven year old son where walking through another person’s yard. While walking through the yard they spotted the naked owner of the property they where trespassing on naked in his own house, making his morning coffee. At this point they did the perfectly logical thing and decided to call the police and report the man for indecent exposure. The Springfield Police department proceeded to come and arrest the man for being naked in his own home claiming that he “wanted to be seen naked.” Does this seem reasonable to anyone? http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/news/local/101909_man_caught_making_coffee_naked_faces_charges I…

Hello everyone! I thought this would be a good place to talk about this. A year ago on the way to work I thought of a revolutionary idea, a new type of camera that does not use pixels to take a picture. I have spent the past year designing this camera and seeking funding to build it. So far I have constructed a rough prototype, written the code for it, acquired patent pending, had it approved of by a JPL engineer and found zero investors. My idea will without a doubt work, however, it is expensive to build and I need funding in order to build a practical prototype to demonstrate its main feature, infinite resolution, and resolutions exceeding 1 terapixel given modera…

  13. ...what would you have done differently while designing the human body? I'd install quick-access panels and shutoff valves for blood vessels, so surgery would be a matter of having the right size of wrench.

I am an 18-year-old female first-year law student in Australia. I am a fairly lonely student with only one friend. This friend tells me that I am very pretty and so she wants to set me up on a blind date so I can get a boyfriend and lose my virginity. I don't want to go on a blind date nor do I want to have sex because I don't feel ready and because I don't feel comfortable. My friend argued that having sex when I am young is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and if I don't take this opportunity it will never come again, so I should do it and I should not dismiss this opportunity because I have never tried it and therefore I cannot judge that it is inappropriate fo…

  20. What knowledge is applicable to more than one thing? Any property which can be found in more than one thing is a common property. Any property which cannot be found in more than one thing is a special property. The knowledge of the common properties is applicable to more than one thing because a common property can be found in more than one thing. The knowledge of a special property is not applicable to more than one thing because a special property cannot be found in more than one thing. No knowledge is applicable to more than one thing if things have no common property. Is no knowledge applicable to more than one thing? No knowledge can be applied by more …

  21. I'm not just referring to SFN here. I mean a community website in general, one that's not just "friends" from real life like Facebook or Twitter. So, what would your ideal Internet community have? Would members be anonymous, or would they use real names, like on The WELL, a 25-year-old discussion forum? How would moderation work? Would bad members be banned immediately or be given a chance? Just throw some ideas out. I'm curious to see what people think.

Has anyone ever noticed that the politics and actions of the worlds super powers don't coencide with how a power would act if it was in the same position. IE military testing, for military testing many of the worlds super powers tell the other countries that it is going to be testing and such on such 'n such day at such n'such time and they are going to be shooting such n such rocket/missle that doest make any sense to me, why would someone want to do such a thing when military stuff is supposed to be kept secret from other countries?

For anybody who hasn't already signed, or is even aware of the BCA libel case against Simon Singh, please click on the link below... http://www.senseaboutscience.org.uk/index.php/site/project/333/ Thankfully the debate has reached the House of Commons, but any extra support, in giving freedom of speech within the scientific community and beyond, is a petition worth signing for. The full story is available through the link above.
