I think it is rather humorous when there is speculation about 'possible' 'life out there' when there is a plethora of UFO sitings and crop circles, which, if even a fraction are authentic (there is abundant evidence of this) then we have never been alone. Perhaps we do not understand the time/space continuum as much as we might think, and life of the cosmos arises in such a way we are not yet aquainted with. Our 'space brothers' MAY be trying to help us not destroy the planet! I think many watch too many violent movies about 'aliens.'

I thought I would start at the ionic level and show some basic relationships for some additional insight. If you look at the metals K (potassium) and Na (sodium), the metal K is more reactive in water. What this implies is that the K+ and Na+, ions, although both with a single positive charge, are not created equal. The Na+ will tend to hold onto its metallic electron a little stronger, implying that the Na+ ion has more apparent postive charge than the K+ ion. As we progress in technology, we advance in travel. To think nothing travels faster than light is madness. Any law of physics can be broken. So the question remains: is the whole universe a theroy or can anything happen in this lawless universe. As you know, sound was thought unbreakable, but we've broken it. Is the uncertainly principal in any way applicable to wave function collapse in that the collapse itself is related to the uncertainty? Energy is a measurement of two items, one entity (mass) and one action (speed). Entities can change form but not their total content therefore mass is conserved. Speed can be transfered between entities therefore although speed is conserved (conservation of momentum) it is not necessarily conserved by the same entity; but total content of the system (speed and mass) is conserved (decay does not occur). Heat is a measure of (particle) speed, sound is a measure of pressure. Speed and pressure cause changes of form (deformation).

Life at its simplest remove is essentially the storage of energy. This storing (a process) does not come free; Life has to use energy to store energy. This extra comes from the environment. Life is an ongoing balance between using stored energy to find more of it, but there's no free lunch.

Is it possible to make environments in which lifespan of particles change? I mean if you could make one that could expand a pion lifetime would that open up new ways of research?
