Cannot edit a post i made from another machine - any ideas?

Some of the most controversial issues lie in environmental sciences which may include global warming, green energy, diminishing natural world resources etc. Why not have a subsection dealing with such issues?

I swear, there have been more than four threads posted on that board. Where have the rest disappeared to?

Would it be possible to create a different forum look? Perhaps something black?

I am very excited about this website because of the webpage. The page almost jumps out at me, I have bad eyes and I can see it clearly! Well down. My question is when my name comes up the word Baryon is under my name. What is Baryon mean? pljames

When you drag a thread to your desktop, which I do for a quick link that I can remember to look at in more detail at another time, it replaces the normal webpage icon with a SFN specific one. However I noticed it changed to this: (the blue is my desktop background) now the icon used to be the atomic SFN logo found in the top left of each page. Wondering why SFN changed to a V I'm guessing it's to do with vBulletin and that this is the default icon for all vB forums. Just thought I'd point it out that has changed!

For the past 4 days or so, I could not access this site. It would just come up with page cannot be displayed. This has happened in the past but never for an extended perios of time. Has this happened to anyone, and does anyone know whats going on?

I just relised that stuff on Global Warming is always in the Ecology and the Environment section; which is under the Biology section. Wouldn't it be more relavent in a section made for Atomsphereic Science, or are the two topics close enough for the difference to be neglagable.

I haven't been around in a while, but I'd like to know why some of the other forums were closed. I don't understand why positions and status of things on the forum have changed. Could someone give a link within certain threads that discuss the reason for certain forum boards closing? To tell you the truth, I see the religion board as important. However, I'd like to take a different view at it. Lately, I've been studying religion, politics, and philosophy. My posts keep disappearing after I sumbit them and refresh/change page/etc. What I am doing wrong?

I am finding the forum is bahaving oddly. When I click 'quote' to quote a post I often am seeing what looks like html, eg. < br /> without the spaces. I am also finding that my posts don't format correctly unless I include html in them. Has something changed recently?

Sounds like a results oriented philosophy. We are afraid of the 1.6 billion Muslims so, for god's sake, let's not be critical. Maybe it will take a few Bill Cosby type Muslims who have the courage to address the problems. In the mean time, our self censorship is going to keep us from winning any war of ideas. Some kind of refference system, what with this being a science forum. typing [ sup][ url=ww.blah.com]1[/sup][/url] all the time is annoying, on the admittedly rare occasions when i do. I was thinking something simple like [ ref]ww.blah.com[/ref], being automatically superscripted, linked to the url, and replaced with 1, 2, whatever.

When looking at the main index of fora, I notice that there is a little bracket after the name of each forum telling me how mant people are viewing that forum, eg (2 viewing). How is this calculated? Since you cannot constantly check people's browsers to see what page is open, it must presumably be measured by number of times the page was loaded in the previous x minutes? Is this right?

Like, so recent posts in the debate and project forum would be listed as well as the ones in all the other forums. Hi guys, I add this here because this is relevant to all scientific aspects.. hope I'm in the right place. I had an idea: How about creating a site 'wikistyle' (or the likes) that contains simple and advanced scientific experiments anyone can do. We can have easy experiments meant for kids, or more advanced experience for the purpose of understanding a subject (woelen has a GREAT site with experiments he made!! go woelen), or explaining past-experiments for everyone to learn and try for themselves some of the ways scientists made new discoveries. I have been having trouble with the IRC chat lately. I get the error message 'Applet IRCApplet notinited' (whatever that means) followed by 'Loading Java Applet failed'. Anyone else? I haven't changed anything that I am aware of.

I'm having issues with seeing all the posts in "Accuracy of An Inconvenient Truth" I've adjusted my "views per page" but when that was set to default or 10 or 20 per page, I wasn't able to get to the last page or two — the same page would keep reloading. I had to set it to 30, and now 40 per page, in order to see the latest posts. I also see that SkepticLance had some posting issues, as there are two sets of multiple posts. Anone else reading that thread having trouble? (I'm on Safari on a Mac). I haven't had issues in other threads.

I've noticed if I post on a science related forum (so not general discussion, P & R et.c) it doesn't appear on the home page. Is this because I got a couple of things wrong recently, or is this an error ?

I just posted something in computer help and 5 posts were created at once. It was crazy. I'll leave the errors there. Maybe there is some problem.

This seems like the right place to look for help about this. When ever i log on to SFN on any computer(just tested it on the uni computer) and it goes back to the home page i get automatically redirected to http://www.scienceforums.net/profile.php this addy produces a 404. every time i try to access the home page this happens. its really starting to **** me off. i tried deleting cookies etc but since it also doesn't work on the uni computers, i doubt its that. Any ideas/solutions?
