Took me a couple tries to just post this. On the brain/protein thread I couldn't post at all. Sometimes the text box wouldn't open or the quote selection feature would refuse to work. Seemed to relate to drop-down ads atop the page that would freeze all activity until I closed them, but sometimes not. And of course there seems to be a new and aggressive wave of full page blocking ads, a lot of them seem to want me to join a popular service that rhymes with snick-snock (don't want to inflame them further by including actual name).

Hello. What is points; where do they come from? or is it posts ? What is 9/13 ? A date? And what is 'Retained' ; is that different from rank ? And "Senior" is neither a rank nor a retained nor a 'level'?

Google vignette is driving me mad and away. How do fix it so every second attempt to move page, post, change forum section... does not lead to blankout.

I opened a thread on spacetime and presented what seem to be a simple straight forward mathematics to illustrate fundamentals of spacetime.math that would have shown how Christoffel symbols used in general relativity are affected...it was just a tip of the iceberg...and just like that Swanson disregarded my simple math without further questions and blocked the thread. What make fear to develop when issues concerning nature of the universe are to be revealed, when it's time has come.you can't tell a single person to give a model of the universe at once or at ago,it has to be developed bit by bit and with possible help and input of other people, Swanson should review the m…

When I choose to ignore a member's posts, their posts still appear in the Activities list, e.g., Is it possible to make them disappear from my view?

I have some heavy weight textbooks that I don't need any more and would be glad to give them away for a cost of shipping. Is it OK to post such information on SFn? If so, where?

Is posting links to files permissible? I ask because I have Mathematica files on the web that can be downloaded safely and securely. I have been inserting the Mathematica files into the code on SFN, but for clarity I would like to share the notebook files themselves. I posted the following idea as a teaser. I believe the protocol would work. But could someone invent math to make it secure? My odometer turned 10099 to 10100 to 10101; then 100999 to 101000 to 101001 An odometer is like a combination lock, Caesar Cipher, Pagoda, M209, Enigma Machine. But what if the odometer was set to an equation. Different combi…

Hi, good day. Has to be a years old post or thread I (Externet) participated in or started about questioning if Alzheimer disease was related to aluminium. Tried the 'and' underlined terms with no success; and a few times got a rejection of waiting a number of seconds to do another search which was repeatedly wrong. Can I learn the trick to a successful find ? Like searching only within my content ? "My content" mentions 'attachments' Is 'attachments' non-text files added to text of a post or 'attachments' means posts ?

Why you deleted my posts??? Your modern country will be lost. I speak face to face with Arabs and Pakis and Afghans face-to-face about new technology and how they can fight with new technology. When you deleted my post about 9/11 you never understand what i have learned to Islamic persons.

Hello, The 9th page of simple yet interesting has multiple posts over and over. The single post was the intended to reply to Ghideon. The rest was a loop, that I don’t know why it happened. So could you leave the post and delete the copies? Thank you, Trurl

I am new to the forum and have received a - score from someone. I find that very Pettie and I look forward to receiving more of the same as it is like a badge of honor. Give me more thumbs down and show me just how pettie you really can get. John John is the name and getting my message across is the game.

After running into the problem numerous times of my latex getting changed to rich text format. I noticed a couple of repeatable and consistent causes. For example if you have latex in your post and try to insert an image or hyperlink to another website this will more often than not cause the latex instructions to drop and the post entirety seems from my end to switch the post to RTF. Do not know if this is repairable but I mention it for everyone's awareness. (010) The last switch occurred simply due to thread merge. The latex was placed in a separate post but the merge operation switched it to rtf. This was what I had actually typed m…

I have understood in last several years to now: Many forums have banned many users and have deleted many useful topics and posts (moderator have been AI and AI do not know some of these posts is very important?) Post of forums and blog have most decreased since several years ago. Many important users of forums have been hidden in internet and they have not answer they emails and WhatsApp and other web communications. Millions of Afghans and Pakistanis with their family and their guns have come to Iran in last 3 years and they have been start fighting with native people in all of Iran even in west! of Iran. Internet of Iran have been very sl…

I have a request of the Admin. I have a post that is locked. Probably because no one understood what I was trying to do. That is bad communication on my part. The post is: Prime Products just one last tine by Trurl, June 18, 2016 in Mathematics It was locked 5 years ago. This post preceded the post Simple yet interesting. I know it has many mistakes and many failed attempts, but it remains the supporting work of my entire efforts. I know no one believes that I solved the Prime factorization problem, but I request this thread to be unlocked not because I wish to add to it. Instead I want to bump it up to be near to the Simple yet …

re. How does a person get expert status? Does the same process apply to losing status, or is it permanently applied with no possible further consideration? Say for example an expert is consistently posting pseudoscience, specifically of the type "Use of misleading language -- Using established terms in idiosyncratic ways, thereby demonstrating unfamiliarity with mainstream work in the discipline," in a way that misinforms readers. Is it appropriate to "report" such posts as pseudoscience? Or is there a better way to call staff attention to the behaviour? Or is it allowed that resident experts can consistently reply to questions in the mainstream science forum…

It has happened again, just as I clicked the submit button the typing vanished. At this point I was allegedly still logged in. A quick look round pages without leaving the thread, and then I found I was no longer logged in and invited to sign in. When I did I clicked on the reply to post again and all my typing was restored, including that which was typed in immediately before trying to submit, so there was no period of inactivity. Since this has happened before and if it genuinely can't be avoided then can someone at least add in a line of code to place a warning popup along the lines of "You are about to be logged off. Do you wish to con…

Tired of harassment-level ads that constantly drop over the page one is trying to navigate to. Is there a way to get some feedback to @blike and go back to the usual banner ads or other formats one can scroll past? Does anyone really think they're going to sell a product by shoving it in our cyber-faces over and over? I would think there is an inverse relationship between rudeness of ads and sales generated. SFN is better than this. And no, I don't want to change my wifi provider, thanks.

I doubt there is much help for this unusual problem, I suspect I will have to wait, as earlier. This is the 2nd time I've encountered it. I am unable to contribute to the topic on 'the Nature of existence' in philosophy forum. I can navigate or contribute else where, but once into that topic trying to post a reply, the curser will not register. This does not appear to be an issue in any other topic. Strange.

Got this in my email: First, I saw this joke from TheVat from this thread: I thought his squirrel joke was funny, so I laughed at it with a squirrel image macro: ..................and somehow that was "TROLLING." Now I don't know which windmill who was tilting at and I frankly don't give a flip, but unless someone was using some obscure meaning of the term "TROLLING" that I was (as still am) utterly unfamiliar with, there was no "TROLLING." Laughing at someone's joke isn't "TROLLING," and I've no idea where this nonsensical "rebellion" label came from either (again, don't know what they're on about, and don't care ei…

For the second time now in recent weeks, when logging in I get a message towards the bottom of the screen saying "help me", with a note that I have a personal message. This message disappears after a few seconds, without any further keystrokes from me. On neither occasion has there been any unread personal message in my In box. I don't like this. Is it a feature, a bug, or has the forum, or my laptop, been hacked?

I've a horrible feeling we are being suckered by a bot here. It makes no sense to speak of "solving" a chemical equation, nor of describing one as having "terms" in it. This is terminology from mathematical equations. The previous enquiries from mcrestroom were also odd. It's hard to think that anyone who is actually attending classes in organic chemistry would be asking these questions in the way he - or it - does. I think I'm going to send in a report, just in case.
