When using the Mesh Current Method in circuit analysis and you encounter a loop with a current source that is going the opposite direction of the mesh current do you assign a negative number to that current source? For example in this circuit there is a 7.5 amp current, I was taught to go clockwise with the current, it really doesn't matter which way you go as long as you get the sign conventions right and put negative and positive where they need to be but in this case I am dealing with whether it is negative or not since I am going clock wise. Do I treat it as negative number, -7.5.

Polonium 210 has a half-life of 140 days which is the time that can be used to make a power generator; just a few grams are needed to reach temperatures of 500 degrees centigrade sufficient to produce steam that drives a turbine; after 8 months it is no longer radioactive and therefore does not produce waste. It can be produced from bismuth by neutron irradiation; you can even build cars at Polonium 210.

Derived from this circuits 3 nodes using the NODE VOLTAGE METHOD are 3 equations: 1) V1- -40/12 + V1/25 + 5 + V1+V2/20 = 0 2) V2-V1/20 - 5 + V2-V3/40 - 7.5 = 0 3) V3-V2/40 + 7.5 + V3/40 = 0 My question is what is the method for subtracting voltages from each other. Like why in the first equation is it V1 - -40 or in Equation 2 why is it V2 - V1 or Equation 3 V3-V2... etc. The guy teaching Circuit Analysis does not explain why he does this. Please explain to me. I will be very thankful.

  8. I am wondering what is the practical application of Ohm's law and Kirchhoff's laws and Node Voltage Method etc... Since most circuit don't just have resistors which is currently all I been dealing with in Circuit Analysis. Are electrical component s in a circuit all treated like a form of resistance "R"?

So I took an interest in brain neurons synapses computing. As you know there are billions of neurons and trillion of synapses in a person's body. To simulate the nerve impulse running in these synapses I turn to multiple GPUs as I believe it has enough power to simulate the brain better than CPUs like a Titan GPU Supercomputer compares to other CPU based supercomputer. But now to do an analysis on the neurons and synapses I will have to get down to track the neurons and nerve signals molecules(Na+,k+). To track these things require a 3D structural identification technique. For instance I leave a bag inside a building and I scan the entire build and store the points, …

  10. A beacon is usually a light source, in a rotating enclosure blocking emission in one direction and a window on another direction. Think of a police vehicle beacon. What other 'emissions' can be/are used instead of light ? As sound as Leslie effect, radiowaves, magnetism ? gamma rays ? that can be detected at -say 50- metres away ?

Im on a science camp and we are building an infrasound detector to collect some data on an incoming meteor shower. We already built the amplifier with some plans we found on the internet. The plans sadly do not show how to build the antenna. We have been searching for a while if someone leaked the info on it bu we cant really find anything. If anyone knows where to find some plans for it or anything of that sort pleas tell us as it would help out quite a bit. I will add the files we have been working with to this post so feel free to check them out. Thanks!!! INFRASOUND DETECTOR.docx

Hello everybody! Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC) need an accurate voltage reference to convert an input voltage into a dimensionless number. The bandgap reference is common Wikipedia It uses the Vbe of two bipolar transistors used as diodes and passing different current densities. Vbe decreases with the temperature but the difference of both Vbe increases, and at least in simple models, a weighed sum of about 1.24V for silicon is independent of the temperature and relates with the bandgap. Excellent special chips do that. I propose here to let software make the weighed sum and more corrections for further improvements. I didn't check if this is already done…

Hi my name is Mike I am 51years old and have been designing and building my mad inventions most of my life. I started contemplating a plasma gun about five years ago, I designed and began construction and after some time of deliberation I decided to use a shock tube design, It consisted of a charging circuit capacitor bank fired by an S.C.R discharging between two drilled graphite rods which are holding a magnesium wire inside a tea shaped burst disc sealed chamber it is holding back a high vacuum held inside a tapering barrell also fitted with a burst disk at the end, an intersecting tea junktion is fitted just before the end Birst disc to allow a vacuum to be draw…

  16. http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/38954656/brush-fire-in-lahaina-prompts-evacuations So apparently, in spite of the rain, wildfires are raging in Hawaii. There's plenty of water... it's just that most of it's not fit to drink. It seems inefficient to have to choose between "using tap water that had to be processed on the taxpayers' dime to be fit to drink, on a fire that can be put out just as effectively with impure water," and "trucking impure water from the flood to the fire." Why can't there be two separate sets of infrastructure; one for water that's pure enough to drink, and another that's adequate for firefighting purposes and doesn't have …

  19. I am doing a short course on Circuit Analysis and have currently learnt Ohm's law and Kirchhoff's current/voltage law (simple stuff, basic algebra). I am thinking up to this point, what is the point of learning all this when electrical engineers usually just use Multimeters to analyze stuff like power, current, voltage, resistance, all can be done with Multimeter. What practical application can you think of where using Circuit Analysis skills is better over a simple Multimeter device.

  21. I am wondering if multiple farts from a person who has eaten a lot of baked beans can run maybe a small sized generator. The wind force will be used to turn a turbine which in turn turns the coil through a magnetic field. This should be able to power a small generator right, like a hand sized generator.

How the automation will work where the train is driven without a motorman? If no, why? Is it because too many risks involved? Not feasible to automate ? Thanks & Regards, Prashant S Akerkar

  23. https://www.cp24.com/news/men-rescued-from-flooded-elevator-after-rain-storm-in-toronto-1.4044296 Yesterday's Toronto floods got me wondering about better flood control measures and/or better ways things could be designed to be harmed less by a flood. 1. It says people needed to be rescued from a flooded elevator. If they're not airtight enough to keep the water out anyway, why not put airholes in them so that people don't have to worry about suffocating from being stuck in the elevator? Why not make them out of glass so that there would be good enough cellphone reception to call for help, and if that doesn't work, to break the glass and escape? …
