  1. Just another example of you not reading, no wonder you don't get Nietzsche.
  2. It's certainly obvious you haven't, Sherlock... If I could be arsed, I'd dig out my previous references in various fora.
  3. Only because Nietzsche was misunderstood, recently by you. What of the statement "God is irrelevant"?
  4. When did I say that? Nope, it's really not, any more than bald is a hair colour, to quote Inow. My argument is and has always been god is irrelevant. Did god write the bible? of course not, people did so even in terms of its book it's irrelevant. Religion can be a force for good, that certainly seems to be the intention of the people who wrote the book, unfortunately, god gets in the way when people believe its relevant, so instead of trying to understand the lessons of the stories and parables they just believe them without critical thought, just knowing what mathew 20:12 (whatever that is) wrote is not understanding nor is it any kind of argument. It may have done a long time ago; today it provides solace for millions and there's nothing wrong with that but unless you can detach god from the book you're unlikely to understand the moral guidance the book provides.
  5. Human nature is complicated: Firstly, what is culture? Is it what your family taught you? What your village taught you? What your region taught you? What your country taught you? What your mate taught you? Secondly, how is culture re-written/over-written?
  6. Now, do you see that God is not needed for a lesson to be learned? I'm not picking on you Raider (+1 for the inconvenience), your post is just a good springboard.
  7. You're conflating politics with atheism, the other extreme conflates politics with theism. However, you're extreme is more ignorant. I missed this post, never mind, it merely confirms my previous answer.

Until now I didn't think it had gone too far...
  9. Of course, the pros outweigh the cons: Pros, two people get to continue a clearly very strong relationship, enjoy that relationship and what Sensei said; and people who hate make themselves a target. Cons, people who hate get a target. So, as you can see, it's a stupid bloody question.

The age-old question, when does a joke go too far? This guy sums it up quite well. No-one likes a bully, but that sparks another question since we're grown-ups, when is truth cruel? The first 15 minutes, sums it up for me.
  12. TBH my part of the real world is just as cordial.
  13. Are you trying to turn my belief, in a pun?
  14. Does it? Cultural change, almost always, leads to legislation, but legislation doesn't always lead to a cultural change. The American civil war, slavery, seems to be a prime example.
  15. I think a culture only changes when it wants to, or is persuaded to, I'd argue that legislation is a result rather than a driver. Your examples highlight my point, seatbelts are an obvious lifesaver and doesn't have any impact on one's daily life unless one's old (set in one's ways) or extremely lazy, the same could be said of drink driving; it's the next generation that drives cultural change not legislation.
  16. P.S. that ones for me, not Raider. Xposted
  17. Indeed, I keep forgetting to add an emoji. P.S. that ones for me, not Raider.
