  1. Spare me the semantics and read back, please.
  2. And getting more unregulated every year, how else do you explain the exponential growth in the pages of our their taxes? now that's a strawman...
  3. And we come full circle, yes we do print money, unregulated capitalism means he took it from others and refused to give some of it back to those who did the printing.
  4. We can't all be self-employed given the complexity of our current economy, would that it was, some of us need an employer. Trickle down doesn't work because it depends on the wealthy using their money fairly, but we all know they tend to hoard it, that's where the government should step in to ensure they do just that, but instead of voting in someone who wants to do that, we're persuaded by fear and greed and that makes us just as culpable.
  5. I agree, there's nothing inherently wrong with wanting more, it can give life a purpose, it depends on how one goes about it. Unfortunately far too many people with that aim/purpose tend to go about it through deceit (hiding the profit to avoid paying their fair share) and selfish greed (ignoring the suffering of others to improve a number).
  6. Because it takes one to know one; I lie and have been lied to ergo people lie. We don't measure we judge and as often as not we get it wrong, yes they can be uncovered but we still don't know which lies get through, so my statement stands. Debt is a classic case in point, some keep it from a partner even to the point of suicide and some keep it from themselves putting correspondence into the bin unread, hiding behind the sofa when the bailiffs come knocking etc...
  7. Being deaf isn't as attractive as you seem to think.
  8. If you want that much you misunderstand the word need. If Berty had google how would Jeeves take a liberty?
  9. Unfortunately, faith tends to ban the sprinkles.
  10. If we stop thinking of it literally and think of it as an analogy (which was probably the writer's (human) intention) then it starts to make sense; knowledge is a delicious fruit and with understanding sprinkled on you can eat it in peace and enjoy, but if you eat it without sprinkles it's got a bitter aftertaste and you'll neither be peaceful or enjoy.
  11. There are things that are axiomatic, 2+2=4, but what is the value of 4, a square has 4 equal sides, but how big is it? Perception and truth aren't the same but they are interdependent.
  12. Since that's essentially what I've been saying, how come I get the shit end?
  13. Indeed, but I don't care either way so the burden of truth is yours.
  14. It always seemed to me that this was not God saying don't do that, but people saying if you want to understand why God is heavenly, understand why people are people and accept you are people and be content with that.
  15. I said the value went from 1/212 to 1/100. An arbitrary one. I'm confused if you don't know what the absolute truth is, how do you know it doesn't matter?
  16. I've just disputed it and you quoted me, so either you didn't understand or you didn't read.
  17. I posted it twice because you didn't seem to get it the first time. I've given a few so far, if you measure the truth arbitrarily it's both true and false, it depends on perspective and what you've been told. Who told you that? In 1971 the UK went from an imperial measure of money to a metric one, so overnight a penny went from 1/212 (if memory serves) to 1/100; which one is wrong?
  18. Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth. - Marcus Aurelius
  19. China has only one time zone so 12 noon can be both day and night (light and dark) which is true? The twin paradox means that one is 5 for 1 year and other is 5 for 20 years they're both true?
  20. Let's take the being 5 as an example, it's a result of a purely arbitrary measure of time, change that measure and it would be possible to be 5 again, or if different countries use different measures it could be true here and false there.
  21. Who knew a servant would resent an arsehole from the ruling class?
