  1. Which supplies can withstand human-squashing forces?

  2. Thanks. Watched about half of it, up to the speculation on Von Neuman probes. (had to watch without sound...automated captions are entertaining - Lick Observatory was captioned as "leak observatory") Some interesting hypothesizing on such objects. UAO seems like a good name for them, unidentified astronomical object. If it's an ET artifact, then it's also a question of how distant (far enough that it shows as point images without any elongation along their trajectory) and if it is entering or leaving the solar system. The odds that any object's trajectory would be straight at Earth are extremely small, even if Earth is its destination. After all, a trip to Earth would involve first a path of deceleration, then a solar orbital insertion of some kind, then an Earth orbital insertion, with maybe some kind of maneuver like a Hohmann transfer or a lower energy transfer. Or it could be some kind of fly-by, without an Earth orbital insertion. A lot depends on the delta-v budget, as it's called, i.e. the amount of fuel available and the thrust it produces. Unless it's using some kind of solar sail, or other externally derived energy. I think the video mentions some speculation about an object that is quite flat and thin, which happens briefly to have its reflecting face pointed at the Earth observatory. What's needed are more UAOs spotted and recorded, to maybe narrow down some of this meandering speculation. Same old same old.

  3. Especially when it comes to the brain. As we know, deprivation inhibits neuronal development.

  4. From what I've read, neuronal migration, glial growth, etc are perhaps the identifiable biological factors at work when the frontal cortex is developing (up until about 25 yo in most individuals) that are very much affected by the environment. Nurture and nature are both part of Nature because, as George Carlin once pointed out, Nature includes everything, including the oft-misused and abused figure of speech involved in the dichotomy nature/nurture. Developmental processes don't occur in a Petri dish. So I agree with most people's observation here, if I understood correctly: Remove the nurture factor and the genius disappears.

  5. Your guess is not relevant... 🙄 The only difference is, you imagine you're right and say so, and I just ask if you know what you're talking about... 🙄

  6. Is it? I thought you didn't like philosophy; what does a gorged brain tell you? Real homeless people still have access to a fire, kitchen utensils (a knife) and space is no problem at all; besides homeless people aren't magically devoid of energy. Not as far as I can tell. And this is why it should only be people that understand, the judiciary is as close as we can get to that particular nirvana...

  7. Surely you mean absorption here. Photons can’t be at rest, and so can’t be adsorbed. Transition energies themselves do not have an arbitrarily small precision. They have a natural linewidth, which can be broadened by various mechanisms. The D2 transition in Rb-87, for example, has a ~6MHz linewidth, owing to the ~25 ns lifetime of the excited state. The transition probability decreases exponentially as you move off resonance. There is no mismatch in energy, as such. The atom absorbs all of the photon energy.

  8. Plus fear and scapegoating and “other-ism” There are, of course, exceptions, but the overall trend is and has been for a very long time exactly as you say.

  9. I think I read the other day Trump doesn't want the border fixing, he wants that to be his election issue. This seems to be why the GOP are in disarray; conflicting directions.

  10. The type of size measurement considered is also relevant. Overall volume seems to be less important than total surface area and complexity of the folds and convolutions, etc. Also, "intelligence" is a highly variable and oftentimes nebulous concept. Artists are often intelligent in different ways than mathematicians and plumbers are often intelligent in different ways from chefs or chemists, for example.

  11. Do you realize that this is just a lie? Your starved brain is lying to you.. It is irrelevant. Real homeless people don't have kitchens and the energy to cook dinners.. Isn't that what my above post was about? Are not 'judiciary" and "government" also people.. ?

  12. The way I see it, any kind of gun that the police and military have access to citizens should also have access to. So if you want to ban certain guns from citizens, ban them from the police and military too.

  13. Ok so apparently this is tied with solonoids apparently. What’s weird is I am getting very huge spikes in electricity. I tried this with some water in a glass and this weird wave kept flowing back and forth through the water it kept multiplying and I was just getting huge results with my oscilloscope that I fried the circuitry. I was also doing some math and this 2 to 3 number keeps appearing it also seems to be tied in with some fractal patterning going on. I must be really stupid because there is something happening here. If I am reading the literature correctly this phenomenon is basically some quantum effect that is tied in with general relativity and quantum mechanics. This dual nature is extremely bothersome. What’s worse is my water system I have designed is extremely efficient. I’m getting huge numbers I have never seen before just from adding these vibrations to the liquid. It can’t possibly be that what’s moving is not the object but space itself? That just can’t be, but this issue with paper having a poisson ratio of less than zero is making me believe that there is some knot action going on and that mass creates a fractal pattern that propagates through space time which leads to general relativity and can be quantized as qbits? I must be really stupid because I’m missing something here
