  1. Yes, although it is worth noting that a hydride is, as far as I understand, more reactive (and thus less stable) than H+. You could not, for example, have something like NaH just sitting out in the atmosphere without it being protected in some way by paraffin or some such. As I said, I believe this due to electrostatic repulsion of the two electrons, and possibly something to do with nuclear charge. Anyway, point being that as you and I have noted, hydrogen has the capacity to act as either a Group 1 or 7 element to some extent, and is kind of in its own special category within the periodic table.

  3. It's even worse than that. ALL life eventually dies, so by that logic ALL life is evil. I suppose logic doesn't matter when it comes to belief in god(s), though.

  4. Likely referring to Turritopsis dohrnii, the immortal jellyfish, is a species of small, biologically immortal jellyfish found in the Mediterranean Sea and in the waters of Japan. It is one of the few known cases of animals capable of reverting completely to a sexually immature, colonial stage after having reached sexual maturity as a solitary individual. Theoretically, this process can go on indefinitely, effectively rendering the jellyfish biologically immortal, although in practice individuals can still die. In nature, most Turritopsis are likely to succumb to predation or disease in the medusa stage, without reverting to the polyp form.

  6. From my viewpoint, which is heavily biased due to the fact that I started work with microbes, I would say that in itself it is impossible to make clear and universal delineations. That being said, it is not the same as to say that existing categories are not factual. There is certainly divergence that we can measure using different tools (which may yield different results), but since everything is on a continuum, we won't find an universal measure to be applicable for every species with the same level of usefulness. I.e. while we could arbitrarily say define a certain amount of genetic distance as the threshold, it will most likely lead to categorizations that are not terribly useful in certain cases. E.g. using thresholds developed for bacterial species would probably lump almost all primates into one group. Doing the reverse would fragment bacterial phylogeny to an incredibly useless degree. So while certain groupings can be debated, they are not merely based opinion, at least no in an arbitrary sense. But the justification of one categorization vs another may depend on viewpoint, or more specifically, the objective of a given study leading to certain categorization.

  7. and resulted in new ideas. Idea 1: "rune stones" raised and attached by using holders. Using paperclip, "rune stone" and a tile from Settlers, without and with a light source. But it may still be possible to reveal runes by mistake. Idea 2: Try without a light at all, very low tech Rune cards and no light. Turn card to reveal the rune to the black player Another low tech idea; "pressure sensitive" runes. These are probably too sensitive to wear and tear. Using two or more layers of semi transparent paper (baking paper):

  9. Recently played this game which uses the technique described by Ghideon to reveal the results of blood tests to check if your character is hosting an alien. Might be worth checking out how others have executed this (it's a pretty good game too).

  12. Perhaps reality is the position of the photon when the universe splits and so virtuality would be the position of the same photon as the universe splits Perhaps the splitting of the universe, when the universe splits and as the universe splits need to be further considered within a temporal context Perhaps the splitting of the universe can be considered as the splitting of spacetime into absolute space and absolute time Perhaps as the universe splits space can be considered within the temporal condition of 'a moment in time' which has duration and so the position of the photon is virtual and the photon is a wave Perhaps when the universe splits time can be considered within the spatial condition of 'an instant of time' which has no duration and so the position of the same photon is real and the photon is a particle Perhaps when and as cohere to give now, which is the present or that reality in accordance with the relative temporal consistency of their relationship as well as the fundementals of this reality, which include wave-particle duality
